The location of these appartments was good. Lassi has one main street with a few bars, nice restaurants and shops. The Katerina appts are situated up one end. They are up a steep hill, but it is only a short way from the road. Not for people with walking problems though. They are typically Greek - very basic. Only stay here if you plan to eat out in the evening. You can't really cook here! Also, the cutlery and crockery is very bad - could just about make up one set from the bits and bobs in the drawer!
We stayed in the only 2 bedroom apartment; the location was good, away from the busy centre of Lassi and away from the main road, but still within easy walking from all facilities. The hill up to the apartments is short but fairly steep, you don't have to be fit but I would not recommend it for anyone with walking difficulties. The apartment itself was very basic, cooking facilities are well below anything suitable for a family of 4. But if you plan to eat out, like we did, this does not matter. Hot water was a bit hit and miss, showering before 6pm was usually cold.
We did experience a bit of noise from the owners, who live above; this was usually between 11pm and midnight. Also their children would play outside our apartment. On the whole this was not too much of an issue, but it is best to be aware of this extra Greek experience!
Don't go here if you are want to laze around the apartment, this is an ideal base from which to explore Lassi and the rest of the island. The closest beach is about a 6 minute walk to get to and about 10 to come back from (it is all up hill coming back).
My advice is to hire a car. There is an off road parking area attached to the apartments for about 4 cars (there are about 14 apartments in the block.
The picture is the view from the far end of the apartment block; near the 2 bed apartmentRoy, think you have the wrong place cos Katerina Apartments don't have a pool
These are really excellent apartments. Although they are situated at the top of a rather steep hill, the location is quiet with magnificent panoramic views of Argostoli and the surrounding countryside. The pool is regularly clean and the apartments are cleaned regularly and thoroughly. My wife and I have always go to Kefalonia for our holidays and these apartments are our first choice every time. Basic, but clean and well practical. Well worth it.
4th time on Kef but first time staying here.Location was excellent at one end of Lassi just up a small hill. (and to all of those moaning about the hill , just try Liberatos!!)Room was very basic but adequate as a base and given the price we paid was fine.Unfortunately there were a few noisy groups there at the same time as us which did slightly hamper our enjoyment.Sheets and towels were only changed once a week which was unsatisfactory. There are better places to stay at similar prices.
Can anyone tell me if there is a casino in Kefalonia?
how far up are these apartments?
can anybody tell me where abouts the katerina apartments are? what else is near the apartments ie. shops, beach. it would be very grateful if anyone could pass this information to us. thanks x x x
Can anyone give the exact location of these apartments? I know they are at the end of Lassi where Gradakia beach is and we have stayed in the Sissy apartments before. We have just got a brilliant deal for next summer from Kosmar and have booked.
We have just arrived back in England from a fantastic holiday in Kefalonia. We were both a little nervous about arriving at the Katerina Apartments after reading several bad reviews but we were pleasantly surprised. We had room No.19 which was really quite big and spacious compared to all other Greek apartments we've ever stayed in. The rooms were clean and basic but all you need for a base. The family upstairs could be a little noisy at times but in the two weeks we were there they only really disturbed us one night. I would recommend the apartments as they are a good price and in a good location for exploring the island.
We stayed here last week and it is one of the best studios we have stayed in in Greece. It was spacious, clean and comfortable with good views of Lixouri. An ideal base for the beach, shops and Argostoli. It is up a steep hill so perhaps only for the fit !
The apartments were cleaned twice a week. The kitchen equipment was not brilliant but we got by. The bathroom was good with lots of hot water all day and a normal loo.
People in other apartments situated under the owners accommodation did say that they experienced noise from above but our studio was quiet.
Stayed here for a week in May and found the accomadation excellent value for money. We had an unpstairs room (No. 6) which had a kitchen (with huge fridge for beer storage), bathroom and large bedroom. Views from the balcony were superb and the room was light and airy. Hot water every day, a real novelty in Greek apartments. Bins were only emptied twice a week so take sandwhich bags to wrap up toilet paper in-cures smells in the bathroom!
We have stayed at these apartments twice now and have found them to be very basic. If you aren't too concerned about comfort then these apartments are okay for a base to explore this lovely island. However, the hygiene is not that great and the owners, who live upstairs, are often too noisy!
My partner thought the Katerina Apartments were fine as a place to put your head down. I thought the cleanliness left a lot to be desired - only changed sheets, towels and most importantly sanitation twice a week! Lots of cats around therefore if living in ground floor apartments could be pestered, which is not very nice especially if you are not a cat lover! Position of apartments we found quite good. Ours was on the ground floor at the far end therefore had quite a nice view over to Lixouri. Are trying different apartments this year still based in Lassi. We love Kefalonia!
Downstairs rooms were dark, small, poorly equipped and with some alarming electrical wiring. Upstairs rooms were slightly better with some good views and attractive sunsets. There is a steep climb up the hill from the main drag which would not be good for the elderly or those prone to over indulgence. However, if you are not too concerned over the quality of your rooms, the location makes an excellent base for exploring the island.
does anyone know what the Katerina Apartments in Lassi are like? and are they suitable for a family?
