Beware!!!!!!!!!!
The swimming pool that you see is a fraud!!!It does not exist. It is located to another hotel rigth near this one where the residents of "BELLA VISTA" are not allowed to swim there!!!When we got there and asked about the swimming pool the owner told us that we could use the swimming pool of another hotel another km away from ours!!!!!!!This is not definately a hotel that you can enloy the swimming pool!!!!!!!!
We stayed this year at the Bella Vista for the second time and loved the position. Yes, we had to hire a car for the duration because nothing is close. We did walk to Lassi on a couple of evenings when we were both likely to have a tipple or two but got cabs back. The taxis are cheap and frequent with friendly drivers. The town of Argostoli is lively and cosmopolitan with a range of good quality restaurants, mostly Italian. There is even an Indian but we wouldn't ever go there. We ate out on all but one night and apart from one occasion the service was friendly and as fast or slow as you wished. We were constantly surprised at the good value in the restaurants we visited.
Maybe the cooking facilities are a little basic[but we ate out every
night]. Maybe the shower is a bit temperamental. But the beds are
comfortable and the views from the balcony are wonderful. Thoroughly
enjoyed staying at the aptly named Bella Vista. We had a 2 bedroom
apartment - one double bed for us parents, and 2 singles for the
teenagers. The pool was a bit cold but it is October after all. Not far
from the main street in Lassi, five minutes from the beach, and close
to supermarkets and eating places.
We thought the appartments where nice, yes the Bella Vista does seem the poor cousin to Panorama, BUT the Bella Vista has Air Con, where as the Panorama does not, nice and relaxing, but as with most Greek Islands you do need a car, up over the hill, past the Italian war memorial into Agastoli takes only a few miniuites in the car, and is an easy drive back at night.
Apartments were basic but had everything you needed, very clean on arrival and very happy with them. Great restraunts nearby and beach is well within walking distance. If you are going look out for tabby and white cat who is very friendly and lives nearby! Great base to explore from if you have a hire car. Also take a trip to the Indian Restraunt (one and only indian) in Argostoli-very nice.
lovely hotel in quiet location with .beautiful views also a wonderful pool only remark is that it could do with an extra pillow in rooms and also an extra socket in kitchen
I'm of to the bella vista apts in september with my wife and two year old daughter and we were wondering if it was suitable for a childs buggy also a few tips for the resort would be appreciated tks hope to hear from someone soon
On arrival at Bella Vista apartments we were shown in by the owner, to be told the fridge did not work but to try it anyway. It discharged a brown liquid on to the floor until it was replaced 3 days later. Bella Vista Aptmts look like the poor cousins to Panorama Aptmts next door, whose pool you are allowed access to. Fanari itself is a beautiful spot and very quiet, and I mean quiet. the nearest shop is at least 1/2 hour walk away, decent beaches are a 15 min drive away in Lassi. We spent about 150 Euros on taxis in the week we were there just to get to beaches and into Argostoli at night, because there is absolutely nothing to do in Fanari itself.
ANY INFORMATION ON THE BELLA VISTA APARTMENTS LASSI WOULD BE GOOD BEST BEACHES RESTARAUNTS ALL THAT STUFF THANX
We've just returned from a weeks stay at The Bella Vista apartments and must say that it was a lovely place to stay. The plug in the kitchen area was a little dodgy with one plug and a 3 way adaptor(the kettle plug smelt of burnt plastic the first time we used it!) but we just used others around the place for the kettle and toaster. A couple of cups were cracked and the cutlery was a little well used, but we enjoyed ourselves none the less. The views from the balcony are beautiful. The pool is in need of some umbrellas as it gets quite fierce in the baking sun and hardly any shady spots.
Highly recommended as a "get away from it all" place. The hill isn't that steep to the Bella Vista, but it is if you are further up at the Liberatos Village - heart attack central.
Oh, and we had a cockeral crowing at the most bizarre hours of the day and night and masses of crickets competing for loudest chirup - but go and enjoy.
We have just come back from two weeks staying at the Bella Vista apartments. Lovely location with smashing views of the sea and Lixouri peninsula. To get those views, you do have to pay...in sweat. The apartments are up quite a steep hill, although not too far up. Works off a bit of the excellent food from the nearby restaurants so that you can enjoy an Amstel or two and those lovely peanut crisps you can only get in Greece, from your balcony. The apartment was cleaned regularly and although the furnishings were a little tired, it had everything we needed. A hint though, take an inflatable pillow or your own spare, the pillow provided (one per person) previously belonged to Fred Flintstone. Mostly quiet, you can occasionally and faintly hear the nearby Greek nights, which to be honest only adds to the pleasure. The pool is great although it does not have any umbrellas so get under the two nearby olive trees for some shade. Plenty of sunbeds.
Bella Vista is located 10 minutes or so from Lassi or Argostoli by car and close to several beaches. It is in a very pretty setting surounded by gardens with a sea view across the bay to Luxori. The only sounds you will hear will be the goats' bells nearby and crickets in the trees! Sounds idyllic doesn't it? Be warned however, do not enter the pool unless you have showered first-Gerry will tell you in no uncertain terms and do not think about pushing the beds together-his wife will be up those stairs before you can say holiday romance. Happy Holiday!!
I just spent 2 weeks here. It was very peaceful and relaxing with only 9 rooms. The rooms were clean and spacious and reguarly cleaned. The kitchen was well equiped, although probably best for just preparing breakfast and lunch. The swimming pool was a nice size and made a nice change to the beach. Lassi's shops and restaurants were only 5 minutes walk down hill. Argostoli is a 30 minute walk or 5 Euro taxi ride away. The apartments are slightly uphill but nothing too strenuous. There's plenty of room to park hired cars too.
The beach is about 10 minutes walk away. Don't go down the nearest turning to Makris Gialos beach -walk further along the road away from lassi for 5 minutes and then head down through the woody bit and the the parasols are much cheaper! If you go to the nearest beach in the centre of lassi you will pay 10 Euros as opposed to 7.50 EU. Go into Argostoli to the produce market for you food unless you want to pay the over priced tourist rate for everything. The nicest nearest restaurant is the Olive Press- 5 minutes walk away-they do super taziki-it's seriously garlicy.
However, if you want to experience the real kefalonia avoid lassi of an evening-it's a souless superficial tourist made resort where there are no locals! By contrast Argostoli really comes to life in the evening with its trendy cafes and lots over fashion conscious Greeks it makes for fantastic people watching! Don't forget to try the ice coffee it's really tastey and all the locals drink it.
Bit out of the way no shops or supermarkets near - Approx 15 mins walk from Agostoli and 40-50 mins walk from Lassi (Taxi costs 5 Euros from Lassi at night.) - Very quiet (this is not Benedorm) - good swimming pool able to buy snacks and drinks. Nice beaches in Lassi Kids should like it.
