We stayed at Despina Apts. 18 May 2014 for the 3rd time. My wife is disabled and cannot walk at all, When we arrived Doris had a wheelchair waiting for us, she is the most helpful person we have ever met.The studios are basic yes but you get everything you need.We will be there next year all being well.Another good point most of the restaurants do take away food which is great for disabled folks. Looking forward to next year!!
Very basic, was rather dissapointed when I first walked into our room but you get used to it. Could do with a bit of a makeover.Make sure to ask the cleaner for things you need as she is very good at doing the minimal amout of work. Peaceful location though.
Forget all the restaurants in Lassi - they are terrible. Yes I am being biased being Greek myself but there is nothing there which has not been made up for tourists to eat. I was very dissappointed. Go to Argostoli - I sampled the best and most authentic food there on the island and there is usually something going on in the square. Why stay in a man-made resort when you have a very authentic capiltal just down the road??? You will enjoy!
charlotte, email me with your questions and ill do my best to help.. firstname.lastname@example.org
see my web page on despina/lassi 2004 at www.tinyurl.com/53jps by the way oskars isnt that brilliant, worth a visit once but there are plenty of other places with better food such as the sunset taverna down the road which is opposite phaedra on lassi high street, excellent food, good value, good staff. also portside opposite the port authority building in argostoli, near the ferry terminal. oskars seems to spend a lot of time littering the whole island with flyers and booklets telling everyone what a great time you will have. the great big bar development which has sprung up on makris yialos beach is hideous. it pounds out loud music every day and is full of the "beautifull people" all posing all day. i'd rather listen to the gentle lapping of the sea and children enjoying themselves than have music boomed at me and see plates of chips passing me as they are carried back to sun loungers,,urghh. the **** of kefalonia is well underway.despina is fine, not too far up the hill, only three minutes, apartments are very basic but then you get what you pay for..
We are booked to arrive the 7th of Aug, 1 week. Any tips etc? Best pool to use, car hire etc etc
Can anyone inform me if you can hire a portable Air Conditioning unit in Lassi or surrounding areas,as we are staying at the Despina apartments,I am to understand by some of the comments that we may require one.
Does anybody know if you can hire an Air Conditioning unit in Lassi as our apartment at Despina does not have A/C.
We have visited Kef several times now and going again in July 2004. Thinking of going to Despina apartments in Lassi can any one give location in relation to Dolphin supermarket. Thanks Andrea
buy toilet paper as the owners think 2 people use 4 rolls in two weeks take bath towels as u only get face towels changed every other day we were in room 7 and u get 2 single beds pushed together try to book room 4 as our friends were in there and they got a double bed but u do not get the sun at all in your room in room 7 u get the sun all day so decide sun or bed? beaches? go to the peaceful beach as there is a great kantena (the best g and t) and the cat is agood one
Just come back from 1 week in Kef and stayed at Despina. Was worried by the comments but when we arrived it was great! The views are amazing as its up a slight hill, sunset is just the best, v central to the most lively resort(don't worry its pretty tame area!), yet v quiet and relaxing. Rooms were clean, had to hire a fan though (1 euro a day) big fridge and freezer. Hot water all the time, rooms are cleaned every other day. We used Marianna pool (great 4 greek food by a pool)and Malibu Bar (ace diving board, and the best chips in Lassi!!)
Loved it will def go back again :)
We arrived back from the Despina apts on 30th August and all we can say is it was wonderful. We were concerned about the comments we had read before going but as soon as we got there we found out we had nothing to worry about, we stayed in room 3 and had a good sized two bedroom apt with fridge freezer, hired a fan off Doris (well worth 14euros) lovely veiws both day and night and safe patio area for our children to play out on. Doris is a friendly and helpful host and we look forward to having a return visit very soon. Used pool at Marianna by supermarket friendly snack bar and free sunbeds.
Wow! What a find! Lovely 2 Bedroomed apt overlooking the sea. Doris the owner lives above the apts and is very helpful - she has written a book about Kefalonia for children. Hire a fan for one euro a day - well worth it in the hot climate. Make sure you take bath towels with you as only hand towels are provided. Plenty of swimming pools nearby and loads of taverns to eat in.
Our apt even had a small freezer.
good location , friendly and helpful owner , hire a fan for 1 euro a day (a neccessity!!!!!) if u have kids with you they will love the dears below an of course all the affectionate cats... laready been to despina twice ps we loive lassi an the greek people .... oh an by the way , the views are breathtaking of the sea from the above despina appartments .
Panic! I've just booked to stay at the Despina studios in August and the reviews are not what I wanted to read!! Has anyone got anything nice to say?
I am about to go to Kefalonia later this week and i have seen some of the comments about the Despina appartments, some are a little worrying - has anyone been there in 2003 and could give further info
Clean but basic apartment (No5). Small things wrong like leaky shower tray and wonky sliding bathroom door but did not spoil the holiday one bit. Owner very friendly (called Doris). Walk up the hill not too bad. (Shortcut down the hill cuts out quite a bit of the walk and you can see the small deer in a little paddock). There is a pool just behind the apartments which you can use which is extremely handy. Hire a fan for the room.
Jane - your comment about Despina worried me! My boyfriend and I are going on Sat (29th July) any more advice about the place? What room number were you in? Any help would be much appreicated!
Self catering apartment for two, but facilities to prepare food not acceptable. Rusty cutlery and pans, kitchen next to toilet with only sliding door between. No table indoors, small patio table only, over drain. Owner friendly, quick to advise on plumbing problems (1 each week!), very friendly affectionate cat.Laundry only changed weekly and towels inadequate (take your own). Island beautiful, we will come again. Hope the castle at St George is open next time!
Information about Despina Apartments plus a photo if one is available
The apartments were set on the side of the hill a few minutes stroll down to the main road. The view across to the sea and mountains was breathtaking. The apartments were clean and relatively comfortable. The owner was very friendly.
