First time in Kefalonia, we eventually got to San Lorenzo after being dropped off at Lorenzo Hotel but a complete kid stranger, took us there in his car :/ he didnt look old enough to drive! but that was just one of many funny things that happen to us during our 14nights in Lassi!
San Lorenzo is gorgeous complex! the pool is lovely, and the sunbeds were always free, even when we woke up! After spending the night in Odessey & So Simple!
The ladies behind the recpetion and bar were lovely, they looked after us very well being to young girls on our own! they were fantastic!!
Aprt from the flies from your food, which can't be helped, eating at san lorenzo for lunch was lovely. we had tuna salad nearly everyday!
The hill, well with high heels on not good, you just fly down it. walking back up, just have a few and you'll be fine. Wont even notice it ;)

Highly recommend San Lorenzo, would go back!!

Have just returned from 2 weeks in August at the San Lorenzo Village appartments.  I have to compliment the staff on their friendliness and the quality and cleanliness of our appartment and the surrounding complex and pool area.  Having visited many other Greek islands over the years, this self catering accomodation rates amongst the best.  The island is beautiful and I would thoroughly recommend hiring a car to see it all as we did.  We had a very relaxing time, with temperatures touching 40 degrees.  The food at the poolside bar is most reasonable and portions substantial.  Tavernas in Lassi and Argistoli offer some great traditional food.  We have already talked about returning and would like to wish all the staff continued success.  Bravo!

Just got back from 2 weeks staying at the San Lorenzo Residence, which is just off the main road behind the San Lorenzo Grill, lovely clean apartments, great maid service. the only down side was the 10 minute hike up the steep hill to the pool at the Village, not very nice in 36 deg heat, the road noice was pretty bad too at all times of the night. facilities at the SL Village were very good and the staff very friendly and helpfull.

Just got back from my 7th visit to the San Lorenzo Village apartments and still say they are the best I have ever stayed in. Great staff everywhere is so clean and taken care of. We have booked straight away for next year and may even go twice!

What a lovely place,  it has the most wonderful views and stunning gardens and everyone is so relaxed.

The apartments are basic but very very clean.  The maid came in daily for around 20-25 minutes and never too early (usually around 11.30 for us).  I was impressed by the complex overall, the location was fantastic - away from the main road so not too noisy.  The staff were lovely, always cheerful and everywhere is just so clean and well kept.  There are two pools, the main one is 1 metre at its shallow end so they also have a toddler pool that is just right for the very little ones.  During our stay there were never more than about 25 people around the pool so it was always nice and peaceful and ample space to relax.

My children (7 and 4) loved the pool but the beach was also popular.  Its about a 5 minute walk to Makris Gialos, its a sandy beach that gently shelves so it suitable for young children.  The water is crystal clear and great for snorkelling as fish come in quite close to the shore.  There is a beach bar selling food, drinks and ice creams - all reasonably priced, they also hire the sunbeds.  2 sunbeds and a parasol are 7 euros per day, although you don't have to have beds they don't hassle you.

San Lorenzo is also within strolling distance of 3 supermarkets and many great restaurants and bars, it took us about 10-15 minutes along the main Lassi road with 2 slow children in tow.

Wouldn't hesitate to recommend the San Lorenzo if you want a great relaxing holiday.

this year will be our 4th time going back to these appartments. we have been on other hols in the 5 years since first coming here and nothing comes close. the island is beautiful but what makes the holiday is the appartments and staff working there. yes there can be some noise at nights . if your windows are closed you cannot hear it, the only music we have heard is greek music from the greek restaurant on the road below the complex, you occasionaly hear a guest coming back late at night being a bit rowdy but you only hear them because the complex is so quite. the staff there are only too happy to help, anything you want or need they will try their utmost to go out of their way for you - last time we were there i broke out in a coldsore on a sunday morning, i had forgotten my zoviroax, i asked the staff where i could get some on a sunday but they insisted they would pick it up for me and let me enjoy my day - they ended going to the only chemist open on that  sunday which was in the north of the island to get some for me. the restaurant owned by the family is highly recommended but go there to eat early as many of the specials often sell out. i realy cannot rate these appartments highly enough and several people have been there on our recommendation and been delighted.

The best place I have been to! Gorgeous complex & gorgeous views. The whole place is really clean, and the apartments are cleaned every day with frequent clean sheets & towels. The bar area does loevly snack food and the prices are reasonable. Staff were friendly & helpful. There is even a shower block & room to leave your luggage on your day of departure once you have vacated your room. We went a few years ago but are going back next month and we can't wait! It's obviously still as nice & the place tends to book up a year in advance!

Gina M

We got home yesterday.  First three days of our week I had my cardi on so that was a bit disappointing, but when the sun came out it was glorious.  The apartments were very clean with wonderful views.  We had an apartment for 2-4 people and when the children went to bed you could actually close off the lounge area so I thought that was a very good idea.  We didn't have to tiptoe around them in the morning.  We had the last week of the season so it was very quiet.  The pool was freezing but the sea was lovely.  Staff were very helpful and you could watch a video in the evening (although it was a bit awkard having the pool table in the tv room!).  There was a bigger screen outside in the bar.  Very enjoyable last evening at Zorba's across the road where we joined in with the Greek dancing.  Walked into Argostoli and eat at Premier Restaurant in the square a few times.  Very good food (and lovely toilets!).

Both the appearance and cleanliness were faultless at San Lorenzo.

The staff were very friendly.

Good facilities for our two year old. A small play area with swings and slides etc was visited daily. Lots of toys in the toddlers pool, although the water temperature was cold in October! (That didn't stop her going in though.)

Our only criticism would be that our beds were not particularly comfortable.

Would not hesitate to recommend San Lorenzo.

Jane T

Have to admit I was disappointed given all the rave reviews here. Yes the staff and grounds were fantastic, but during our 2 week stay we lost, at various times, water and electricity. The pool was taken over by kids, who frankly should have been at school, and who made lots of noise in their rooms late at night. The self catering facillities were minimal and the apartment was TINY. I knew it'd be small, but not that small! The 'kitchen' and bathroom combined were around the same size as the average hotel bathroom.

It does have its good points though:
We hired towels for the duration save taking our own to the beach. 10 euro returnable deposit. You can order groceries for collection from reception save you carrying them up The Hill. They supply a welcome pack of sweets, fruit and washing up liquid on arrival. Mind you dont drinnk the latter though!! Films are shown daily for kids and adults. Good place to take small kids as there are all sorts of toys to play with in the paddling pool. Bigger kids seemed to enjoy the stock of inflatables in the big pool.

Lassi was a good base and we were spoiled for choice in restaurants. Best meal was at Monte Nero at the far end of the road towards Argostoli.

Local amenities were good, ie supermarkets selling recognised brands. English newspapers are not hard to get.

Beach Club area of the Long Beach was great, with a decent cafe, plus beds and umbrellas at the going rate of  8 euros. Fab! There's more space between beds here than there was further along the beach towards the main water sports area. We found it pretty peaceful too.

I'd go again, but only for 1 week - and I'd take some earplugs for night times!

Have  a great time there yourselves

Rob

Wow what a place to stay in its by far the best we have stayed in. Staff our superb will return one day as this is the second time to lassi. we arrived back on the 10/09/06  go enjoy yourselves as we know you will

Claire S

Have to say we liked it even though haven't been there yet!  After reading several reviews I am so glad that I have chosen San Lorenzo village for me and my family.  I'll be taking my brother and my two children (7yr old and 7mnth old) in mid October this year.  Managed to find a last minute deal :-).   It seems as though, from what I've read, that this will be the perfect place for us as it won't be too noisy for the baby and it's close enough to the beach for my son.  I'm not looking forward to the hill but then I could do with the exercise! :-).  Have only rated it average as obviously i don't actually know what it's like for myself yet but i'm sure when I return I will be able to upgrade my rating to Excellent :-).

We have just returned from San Lorenzo Village in Kefalonia. This has been one our best holidays ever.

The apartments were fantastic and very well maintained with room service every day.

The owners and all the staff were brilliant and couldn't do enough to help.

We wouldn't hesitate to return.

Liz V

My husband and I have just returned from Kefalonia within the last few days having spent our honeymoon there.  We stayed at the San Lorenzo apartments in Lassi.  On arrival we were greeted with congratulations from the receptionist and found a card, bowl of fruit and champagne in our room which was a lovely touch.

The apartments are well laid out, although they are in blocks of six, you don't feel overcrowed or too close to anyone.  They are painted in a typical bright Mediterranean style which adds to the appeal.  Our apartment was serviced every day which was something I was not expecting have read reports that apartments in Greece are not well maintained.  The room was plenty big enough for the two of us, well equipped with kettle, microwave, hairdryer, clock radio/CD player, safe in the room and although there is no air-con the fan and the breeze make a difference.

There is a small bar area with a games room, snack bar, books to borrow, a decent sized adult pool and plenty of sunbeds around the pool if thats your thing, we were out every day visiting different sights and some of the most beautiful beaches I've seen in Europe - Petani is a must.

In all, we rate this as being one of the best holidays we've had and although I have a rule whereby I don't ever go back to the same place, this is something I'm willing to relax for Kefalonia.  The island is truly magnificent and has plenty going on to keep everyone happy, no matter what type of holiday you are looking for.

Just got back from San Lorenzo Apartments. Apartments were spacious and very well equipped. There is a celing fan in the bedroom which is adequate and a small fan in living area, not quite as good.I have been to Greece quite a few times now and these are by far the best apartments I have stayed in.

Krissie E

Hi everyone!! - you're comments have really helped us to decide that this is the place we want to stay at, next July when we get married in Lakithra (about 10 mins away from Lassi)

One question for anybody who can answer... We are trying to decide between booking a studio for 2, a studio for 2 + 1 child, or an appartment for 2-4 people. In the Thomson brochure it states that some studio's have shared terraces - can anyone enlighten me? As it's our honeymoon thought we'd be better off having a private one!!

Are the studio's on one floor and appartment's on another?!!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Stayed at the San Lorenzo last year and there is a childs pool and a very basic play area.  The apartments do not have air conditioning but have a ceiling fan which was fine because as you are up the hill there is normally a slight breeze.  The windows have mesh netting on them so you can also leave them open without getting bitten alive!  Loved the apartments and am going back again in August this year - three weeks to go and can't wait!  Have been coming to Kefalonia since 1988 and have fallen for it in a big way.

Deb

Stayed here in August 2005 and loved every minute.  We will be returning in July 2007 (you have to book early to get in here - I tried for 2006 but it was fully booked)!!  I didn't see any other accommodation that came anywhere near these apartments.

Debbie T

We went in May 2005 - holiday was best we have ever had. Honest! Beaches lovely, crystal clear water, good food (Das Veronicas especially) Went with husband, 17yr old and 12 yr old sons, both thoroughly enjoyed it.  All sad that we can't go this year as it's fully booked, that will teach us to book earlier!

Don't worry about the 'hill', it honestly isn't that bad, and i'm not the fittest person in the world, you just get used to it!

P.S.  If Brigitte is still working at the San Lorenzo pool bar, she makes the best pizza and greek salad ever!
