GOING TO OLIVE GARDEN IN AUGUST, WHAT ARE STUDIOS
LIKE, GROUND FLOOR VIEWS ETC.

MANY THANKS

Gail S

We went to the Olive Gardens for two weeks in october 2003, the weather was beautiful, we had already booked a car that we picked up at the airport on arrival, which meant we could tour the whole island. The food was wonderful, the people very friendly, and there was plenty for our three boys( 13,5,3 ) to do, including going to see the deer at the bottom of the hill from the Olive Gardens. The only disappointment was we found that the floors weren't cleaned in the two weeks that we were there other than that I think it makes a good base camp.

ATTN : THOMAS ADAMS
REF : OLIVE GARDENS

THEY ARE IN THE UNIJET SUMMER SUN BROCHURE(SUMMER 2004-1st EDITION)

IF YOU WANT AN EVEN QUIETER HOLIDAY,TRY GALINI APPTS IN KATELIOS
(THOMSON).IT'S NOT AS BUSY AS LASSI & APPTS ARE AT LEAST AS GOOD AS
OLIVE GARDEN & THE HILL IS A LOT LESS SEVERE.

Bill and his team made us ince again very welcome. We have been comming here for 4 years and will be back in 2004.
I can reccomend the Olive Gardens to people who want to let life drift by the pool side with a couple of cold beers.

Just come back from two most enjoyable weeks at the Olive Garden apartments in Lassi. The view from the apartments is spectacular especially at sunset. There is a steep climb to reach the apartments which is manageable (10-15 mins) but best avoided during the day. As there were only two of us we found the walk preferable as taxis charge minimum 3 euros just to climb the hill! Good choice of restaurants in Lassi - would definitely recommend Sirtakis.

we were in kefalonia a couple of years ago and stopped at the apartments over the road from the olive garden apartments. the views are great the island is beautiful but we cannot find the olive garden apartments in any travel brochure. If any one out there can tell us who to contact to get information about stopping at olive garden apts we would be very pleased.
hope to see a message soon

I stayed in the Ventura rooms a couple of years ago, but spent most of my time 9 when not out exploring) at the Olive Gardens. Can someone please tell me which travel company is going to the Olive Gardens in 2004, as I really want to go back!

Hi all
we have just come back from a two week break at the Olive Garden Appartments. We thought the accommodation was great very clean with daily maid visits. The view from the balcony is absolutely stunning.

We would say unless you are very fit you will need a car. We lasted 4 days. The hill down in to Lassi is very steep!!!!!!. If you turn left out of the car park go up the hill and walk down cross over the main road, then work your way down through the buildings (we walked through housing estates) to Argostoli this is much better than going into lassi. you can then wave down a taxi and get a lift back for 4 euros without climbing the hill. This is the best eating (in The Square) and the best shopping on the island. it is a very good atmosphere and people of all ages are around untill after midnight. The best resaurant in the square is the Italian. good food and comfy seats.

We did not find lassi very good for food though there were plenty of resaurants. The was one bar inparticular which catered for the young with loud music going on until the early hours. This was just a nice distance away so as not to bother you in the appartment. There are a few dogs that manage to wake you up some times.

You can only get toasted sandwiches and rolls at the bar. When you arrive the coach will drop you off at the first choice office in Lassis and a taxi will arrive to take you up the Hill!!! Had we Known we would have popped into the supermarket next door and picked up a carton of milk (pastueized 1.5% Fat) to go with the teas bags we took while waiting for the taxi. You can get english products but it is very expensive. Sun cream is also expensive. If at all posible do not buy much in the Lassis super markets go to Argostoli and go to the super market right on the main street through near the bridge across the road from the fruit and veg markets. It is a newish looking upto date building (Red) everything is so much cheaper. ie Amstel Beer (which is quite nice) was .70 of a euro for 1/2 ltr bottle. in Lassis it was 2.10 euro. Lots of other things 1/2 price.

It is best to buy a parasol and rush mats when you are there because sunbed and parasol hire is very expensive. 15 euro's bought us 2 rush mats and 1 parasol. this lasted all hols then we just threw them away. When you've got these you can stop any where at any beach. you will need them as the sun is very hot. 2 sun beds and a parasol hire will cost 9 euro's per day.

Lassis is great for a base as it is near Argostoli (20 Mins walk) but the other side of the Island is far the best SAMI, AGIA EFIMER, FISCARDO,SKALA. lovely places. The pebble beaches are best with loads of Snorkeling (Get a snorkeling set before you go, invest in a good mask). at Sami or along the road between Sami and Agia Efima little coves. At Agia Captain Corelli's resaurant was lovely.

We hired a jeep from CBR the one to the left of the appartments (when looking Down) The people are very helpful giving a map and advice on where to go. Do not swim at Mytos beach, it's very dangerous under current people have been killed.

The Glass bottom boat bbq trip is a must great fun.

Our jeep was 419 Euro's for 7 days we had 4 adults and one child in it and drove all over the island. This was one of the more expensive vehicles.

We also went on the onassis trip which was quite nice too. We also went to the wine tasting factory which is signed on the route to Sami.

The Snack bar on long beach had quite nice food.

My last comment would be You have not seen Kefalonia if you haven't been to East side of the island both south and north very very beautiful. You just can't believe how clear, aqua and blue the water is. If you hire a car and look around you will have a great time. Don't forget your licence!!!

Myself and my wife are arriving at the Olive Grove Apartments on 2nd September 2003 so will probably see you there. We are looking forward to our holiday as we have been told by many people that the Island is spectacular.

Mark F

we have just come home from an excellent time at the olive gardens.the whole place was fantastic. The view from our room was just out of this world overlooking the town below and the sea.The pool is the best in lassi very clean.the people who run it are so freindly. Can!t wait to go back next year.Allthough it is up the hill the walk down is ok and if you dont want to walk back up just get a taxi only two to three euros.

Michelle N

We are visiting these apartments in september and have heard a lot of mixed opinions on this place!! how far (in minutes) roughly is the walk to the beach? are there many bars and restaurants around? can somebody please reccomend a good car hire place and would it work out better hiring a car over here over there? see you there if youre there between 7th and 21st of sept 2003!!!!!!!! :-)

Mark C

ATTN : COLIN DIXON. HOPING THAT THIS HELPS. OLIVE GARDENS ARE IN GREECE,WHERE THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SAFETY,EITHER CHILD OR OTHERWISE .THE APPARTMENTS ARE GOOD,BUT THE STAIRS ARE OF A METAL SDIRAL DESIGN WITH NO SAFETY GATE.FLOORS ARE ALSO VERY SLIPPERY WHEN WET.A MAN NAMED BILL OWNS THE APPARTMENTS.HE WAS BORN ON KEFALONIA BUT EMIGRATED TO AMERICA WHEN HE WAS 6 MONTHS OLD BECAUSE OF THE EARTHQUAKE.A LOT OF THINGS ARE THEREFORE UP TO AMERICAN STANDARDS,NOT GREEK.

John S

Just a further note, I see somebody asked if the apartments had a safety deposit box, well unfortunately they don’t, but we were able to securely lock all the windows and doors, so not really an issue. Also Colin Dixon asked about the room layout, well the apartments have two floors linked by a metal spiral staircase. Upstairs are two double bedrooms and a bathroom, and down stairs a single bed, table, 5 chairs and a kitchen area – hope that helps.

John S

Stayed here for two weeks (August 2002) – I have mixed views about the location – being half way up a mountain the views were spectacular – but it was a steep walk up and down the hill to the resort in the evening to find a restaurant. The accommodation was spacious, but not very well equipped; the kitchen area included a fridge, kettle and an old mini oven. The pool area was great – no fighting for the sun beds (BUT watch your fingers – the sun bed backs had a habit of collapsing!). I felt the bar prices were high – Olive Gardens charged 3 euros for a large beer, the same beer was only 2.5 euros in Lassi and only 1.10 euros in the supermarkets. The Olive Garden bar offers a range of excellent bar snacks, but unfortunately only at lunch times, so there’s no avoiding the evening walk down the hill! .Would I stay here again? Not sure, but if I did I would hire a small car (Lassi has more car hire outlets than shops!).As for Kefalonia - it has some great locations many far better then Lassi.

Does anyone know if the Olive Garden Apartments are equipped with a room safety deposit box? The brochure we’ve got doesn’t mention one.We like somewhere to store all the essentials things that you need on holiday. (The Brandy, Whiskey, etc)

Colin D

We will going in September to the Olive Garden apartments with two young children, one and three. Can anyone help to explain the layout of the split level apartment we will be staying in ie many stairs, difficult for children, is balcony child safe etc? Thanks

Wilma J

DOES ANYONE OUT THEIR KNOW IF IT'S POSSIBLE TO BOOK THE OLIVE GARDEN PRIVATELY. I SPOTTED THEM FROM A TAXI WHILE ON A PACKAGE TO KEFALONIA IN MAY BUT GENERALLY WE TRAVEL INDEPENDENTLY BUT I HAVE TRIED EVERYWHERE TO FIND A TELEPHONE NUMBER. I HAVE ALSO TRIED TO FIND THEM ON GREEK ACCOMMODATION BOOKING SITES BUT NO LUCK - ANY HELP WD BE MUCH APPRECIATED

Michelina P

location is appox 1.5 km up a steep hill side.car hire is recommended although the walk down the hill is pleasent taxis are qiute cheap about 4 euros. the appartments are quite big but the studios are very small. the views from the olive gardens are fantastic and all the staff are very friendly. for a good night out i recommend the olive press on a monday or wednesday for there greek night food is good and is not that expensive.Argostolli is good for shopping and has lots of bars and restaurants and ask vicky behind the bar about booking a table at her restaurant as the food there was best meal we had while we were there

My family and I will be staying at the Olive Garden Apartments in Lassi on Kefalonia this July. Could anyone who has been there give us an honest opinion of the place and what are "must do" things on the island. We have a car for the two weeks. Thanks, Steve.
