Just got back from skala 6/7/2014. If anyone wants to book here they are on Thomas cook. The studios are abit basic and the beds are rock hard, but overall a nice quiet place to visit, takes about 10mins walk to the town centre, suited us fine. You do have to buy the a/c for 7euros a night, and the safe at 10euros a week. There are steps so be aware. Also take a holdall to carry the water back as it gets heavy.
Just returned from Skala, didn't stay at the Eleana but usually do. If anyone is interested they are under Thomas Cook at the moment, but Nikos seems to change tour operators every year.
We went to Skala 2 weeks ago and there were people staying in Eleana, we asked the barmaid how to book but she could barely speak a word of English and the Marietta reception was closed so the mystery still isn't solved!
Hi Sarah,
Does anyone know why we can't book Eleana any more? It's no longer on the Thomson or First Choice sites and I emailed them directly twice with no reply...maybe they have been sold off privately? How strange.
Absolutely brilliant. Clean, quiet, spacious and well appointed accommodation. Highly recommended - we will be back!
also adding to our last comment the appartments where very very clean and a pleasure to stay in .......... ignore the comments about the grumpy men they are long gone xxxxx go for it if you want a great hol
just returned from these appartments what can i say really class best holiday ever joanne was really fab very friendly (she is the very nice girl running the pool bar ) and the marrietta the sister hotel next door is really extra special xx with rania and pedros they are great people and its a fun but very nice place to be we will be returning next year best hol i have had and we have had a few ............. thanks to everyone including all the very lovely people we met xxx
just returned last week from the eleana apartments. a really nice place the rooms are spacious and the maids come every day to clean them and change sheets twice a week.there are no plugs in the sinks or bath............and there are no kettles grills or microwaves just a hot plate with two rings so when making a cup of tea it takes hours.................take your own kettle............
sounds like grumpy has left the pool area thankfully! can i just say that we were never 'rude or disrespectful of the rules of the accommodation and facilities provided' so the fact that they were not 'so welcoming' towards us is bizzarre (many of the other guests who were 'picked' on were not disrespectful either). it seems we just went at a really bad time of year. i have been to scala for the past six years and have never been targetted by hotel staff before, i think grumpy just had a problem with people with young families and also people in their mid twenties, but despite what people think we arent all the same! hopefully the ratings of the place will go up again now, it is dissapointing that one person can destroy the genreal atmos of a place and I am glad he appears to have gone!
Got back from a week at The Eleana Apartments yesterday, and I honestly cannot see what people have been complaining about!
Hi this was the third time that we stayed at the Eleanna in four years and the accommodation was excellent as on all previous ocassions. The apartments are kept extremely clean with the maids coming in every day. The rooms are spacious and well maintained.
Have just returned from a two week holiday to the Eleana apts - we had a lovely time! Reading the comments below I do sympathise about the 'grumpy old man' behind the bar, but to be honest we just ignored him, or gave as good back!
just returned after 2 week stay and have to agree with all the comments made about the swimming pool and the pair of grumpy buggers who work there. in fact the owner could do better by replacing them with the 2 lovely friendly cleaning girls ! any first day arrivals--allow 10 minutes to read the RULES of the pool to save grief later.after a few days most people had opted for the beach or other pools nearby with a bit more atmosphere, after all it is a holiday complex! can't fault the spacious clean appartments ,however if the temperatures are extreme you will be expected to pay 7 euros a day for air CONdition. one other thing was the howling/barking all night from the dogs on the hill next door so should i return(yea right) a shotgun would be a must to silence the damn things.
I HAVE RECENTLY RETURNED FROM MY HOLIDAY WITH MY CHILDREN AND WERE UNFORTUNATE TO BE STAYING AT THE ELEANA, I CANNOT FAULT IN ANYWAY THE APARTMENTS AS THEY WERE SPOTLESS AND CLEANED EVERYDAY. BUT THE POOLSIDE RULES WERE A SHAM!!!!!! THE CHILDREN WERE EXPECTED TO REMAIN QUIET AT ALL TIMES, LAUGHING AND JOKING WAS FORBIDDEN! NO USE OF AIR BEDS,OR BALL GAMES WERE ALLOWED, BASICALLY ANY FUN YOU WANTED TO HAVE BY THE POOL WITH YOUR KIDS WAS A NO GO! WE WERE TOLD ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS TO BE QUIET, (WE WERE HAVING A FEW SWIMMING RACES AND THE KIDS WERE EXCITED) BARING IN MIND WE WERE THE ONLY PEOPLE IN THE POOL AT THE TIME, AND ONE OTHER COUPLE BY THE POOLSIDE WHO EXPRESSED THAT WE WERE NOT CAUSING THEM ANY DISTURBANCE. THE ONLY ONE WE WERE DISTURBING WAS THE GRUMPY OLD GIT WHO SITS AT THE BAR DAY IN AND DAY OUT,WATCHING YOU LIKE A HAWK LISTENING TO HIS MUSIC! WE WERE MADE TO FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE AND THE KIDS FELT THAT THEY COULD NOT ENJOY THEMSELVES. THE OWNER OF THE ELEANA ALSO OWNS THE MARIETTA ACROSS THE ROAD AND THE SAME RULES ALSO APPLY THERE. SO IF YOUR THINKING ABOUT STAYING IN ANY OF THESE APARTMENTS WITH KIDS BARE IN MIND WHAT I'VE SAID. IF WE DECIDE TO VISIT KEFALONIA AGAIN WE WILL DEFINATLEY BE FINDING A MORE CHILD FRIENDLY ACCOMMODATION WERE YOU CAN SMILE AND LAUGH AND ENJOY QUALITY TIME WITH YOUR KIDS, AFTER ALL THAT'S WHAT A HOLIDAYS ABOUT, ISN'T IT?
We have just returned from our second stay in these apartments. As with last year we cannot fault the rooms, clean, spacious all that you need. Unlike last year though the pool is now a no fun area. My 2 children were using a small rubber boat in the kids pool and were asked to remove it. One day we were the only people in the pool so we had a couple of races, this time we were told "calm down", there was only 2 other people around the pool area and they said they did not mind. The very friendly English lady "Sharon" has now moved to the other apartments over the road, leaving just a misrable old sod, who if he smiled may need to go to A & E to get checked out! He has tip jar on the bar which if he did more than just grunt when serving and maybe collected empties from the pool area (you have to take back your own) would probably get a tip. The same can be said (apart from the service at the bar) about the sister apartments over the road. We were in there one evening and my children were playing on the swings and the whole time the owner just stood staring at them, so much so that my children felt uncomfortable and decided it best just to sit down with us. These are great apartments if all you wish to do is go to the beach and have somewhere clean to sleep, if not then keep your kids on a short leash, dont smile to much and dont expect to have to much fun around/in the pool. Also just another point to add, wish that the weather is cool as the air con for the rooms cost €7 a day! For a two week stay thats €98! Nearly £70. I think the owner may need to rethink some of his ideas before this goes further down the pan and turn into a 60+ only complex.
Hi, The only ones I can immediately are the Marietta which is right next door. I must admit I have stayed at both and the Marietta is no where near as nice but for the location it would be idea for you. I think they are with Airtours.
Could you tell me some of the apartments in walking distance from Eleana Apartments. I am staying here in September but it appears it is booked up so my friends needs to find alternative apartments but I cannot find a detailed map of Skala, any information would be appreciated.
Didn't stay here, but had cause to visit the bar - Sharon was lovely as was the cider Wish we'd stayed here instead of the Andreas!!!
Just returned from 2 weeks stay at the Eleanna Studios and we were really impressed. The rooms are really spacious (we had a room with a double bed and a single at no supplement) with loads of storage space and a balcony overlooking the road.
We stayed at the Eleana Apartments in July 2005, I was a bit worried as they had been newly built and had no pictures in the Airtours brochure. Anyway i was surprised at the high standard of the apartments, very spacious, clean, lots of wardrobe space and even a Hairdryer !!! which for Greece i thought was very good. The pool area was really nice and quite and the English lady that runs the bar area is very helpful & friendly. The beach is a 5 minute walk and the town 5-10 minute walk and you can also use the facilities at the Marrieta hotel which is owned by the same family. They downside is that when you walk out of the main town at night the payment ends so you have to walk along the side of the road (which isn't lit) and when you have had a few drinks i thought was a bit dangerous, but their was never loads of traffic !! Anyway me and my husband are going back to Skala again this summer and staying at the Tara Beach Hotel, we are addicted to Kefalonia.
RE: ROAD NOISE and GENERAL COMMENTS I saw a recent question regarding road noise when staying at the Eleanna. I stayed there last year in August and although the apartments are on a main road, it is so quite and secluded you would hardly know the road was there, apart from the odd coach of tourists and the odd tractor or two. The only thing i will say is that you have to walk along the main road into the town, not far, only 5 min walk, however for some of the way there is no pavement, so be careful. It was a fantastic place to stay, traquil and excellent serivice provided. The english lady who runs the apartments is lovely and is always willing to answer any questions you have. The pool was clean and the poolside food was superb value for money. The room we stayed in was larger than we expected and was cleaned daily. The maintenace man provided excellent viewing!!! Looking forward to returning this year, if all goes well.
I have booked the Eleanna Studios in Skala, Kefalonia through Kosmar for June this year. Can anyone tell me anything about them i.e where they are - I have been to Skala a couple of times before but I don't remember seeing them. Also if anyone has stayed there recently would they recommend them. Thanks
