Captains House

We have been for holiday in Captains House and i strongly recomment this hotel to anybody going to kefalonia for holidays and looking for 2* hotel.you can't find in better value for money hotel.
The hotel staff are friendly and efficient and the hotel itself is clean and well designed.the location is great in central of skala with all amenities around.
 Overall a fantastic holiday . We thoroughly recommend Captain House Hotel in general.

My husband and I stayed here from 20 - 27 October and had a wonderful holiday.  Our room was clean and comfortable and continental breakfast as expected.  The location couldn't have been better, how lovely to sit on the verandah having breakfast watching the sun rise with relaxing music playing in the background - does it get any better?  The only criticism I could make, and its hardly a criticism at all, is that it would be great to have somewhere to make a cuppa during the day, just what you need after a full day excursion or a hard day on the beach!  Would definitely recommend this hotel,  but can't understand why Thomsons have doubled the price for the same week in 2006 though, so may go elsewhere next year, pity.

I have stayed in many two and three star hotels all over Europe, and I would recommend this hotel.

We liked this hotel very much.  We found it to be very clean, friendly and very convenient for the beach and restaurants etc.  A great location for anyone going to Skala.  We hope to return one day.

We went there in July 2004. Yes, Captains is a nice bar, but staying there? You would not want to spend a night trying to sleep in the night club, would you? It's a good place to stay if you never go to bed before 1-30 a.m. (when the music stops). Otherwise, avoid it at all costs- you will not be able to sleep even with the ear plugs as the music from the bar is so loud (it's the loudest bar in Scala). we will return to Scala and go to Captains Bar, but as far as accomodation is concerned, I will stay somewhere quieter...

We had wonderful time at captains last august me and my wife.
Typically Greek friendly helpful staff made us feel really welcome.We couldn't fault it and will be returning again next year.

Well, it was no convent or monastry! Perfectly places to be near everything without having everything on top of you. Best of all, it was opposite the fabulous CaptainsBar. What more could you ask for?

Well it was cosy and run by the nicest people you could meet!

have stayed here 3 times previously,and, because of its location have tolerated fannies surly attitude and the abysmal breakfast.
however this year, my brother got the room we had last year, and the shower is still broke!!.
towels are changed once during the week, and the cornflakes and orange juice, are still inedible!...straight to the pines for me!..the same place vangelis goes for his breakfast!!!well done THOMPSONS.your influence(and rep)have changed nothing!.

Would you believe it yo walk out the door and ther's a bar. Now that's service.

If you want to go and have a nice relaxing beer this is the place the Bar staff are friendly not to mention drop dead gorgeous

Well 2003 came around I we went over to see if there was any changes. The whole front area was now very stylishly redone

I came back from skala on the 9th of october 2003 after staying for a week at the captains studios and i thought it was a really nice place to stay.The staff were very friendly and the location of the hotel was perfect.Literally two minutes to the beach and right round the corner from the main high street. I am going back in june and staying at the captains studios again,except this time it will be for two weeks!

Great location, overlooking mountains one way, the sea the other. Nikos, the owner is very friendly. Basic accomodation, but clean and well maintained. Only problem is the rooms get very hot at night. On the edge of town, so a pleasant stroll to the centre (although a bit of a hike back). We will be returning.

We booked the apartment through the internet, so were wary about what we would find. We had nothing to worry about; the owner Nikos was very friendly, the views are mountains to the rear, and the sea to the front. Apartments basic, but clean and well maintained. Only complaint is they get very hot at night. Safe for children, and a pleasant stroll down to the centre of Skala (but quite a hike back up). We will be returning.

We asked for a view and got it - arranged through JMC (Thomas Cook) - breakfast a bit basic but thats continentals for you (if you wanted more then you could just help yourself) Vangelis is a real character (looked forward to the weather reports from him every morning) Room basic but you don't go on holiday to stay in your room all day do you? Opposite is the Captains Bar run by Tina and Monica - brilliant location for crawling back to room after a cocktail or 2 (or 3 or 4...) Would definately recommend to others - Location of hotel could not be better.

Any information on the captains studios would be gratefully recieved, they are in the golden sun brochure, and I am not sure if they are linked with the captains hotel and bar, although the description appears to put them no where near them?

we went in 2000 for the first time and it was alright, basic but all that we needed. Last year though we were very dissapointed.it was Our honeymoonand even though we requested a balcony like the year before, we were put in the basement with a tiny window and there was a lot of mozzies as the window lay ajacent to the grass outside.location was super 5 mins from the beach although up a hill. Rooms cleaned 2 a week.
