Truly excellent food and service. We eat here most nights when in Kefalonia - in fact 11 out of 14 nights this year (our 5th holiday on the island). The Stamnaki dishes are especially good, but don't let me influence your choice - it's all good and if you like Baklavas, then I would say Mi Abeli has the best that I've ever eaten. If only UK restaurants were this good - it would never happen in a million years!
This taverna seems to have gone downhill over the years (since 2001), but it certainly has atmosphere. We didn't try it this year as we knew there was better so I can't comment on the latest situation. Hopefully they will have improved.
We sometimes have lunch here - they do marvellous fried aubergines and tzatziki. Always a very friendly and attentive service. The Stamna (not to be confused with Stamnaki) was brilliant as well this year when we went one evening - first had that on Skiathos last year, so was pleased to see it on Kefalonia. Highly recommended though the taverna does look spectacular.
Absolutely brilliant. Clean, quiet, spacious and well appointed accommodation. Highly recommended - we will be back!
We stayed at Makis Studios in 2001, 2002 and 2004. Each time the accommodation was clean and the staff / owners very pleasant and friendly. Tour operator was Airtours - enough said about them! We paid them a visit this year, but there weren't many people around and none seemed to be English, so maybe it is no longer a base for Brits.
We stayed here in 2007. Everything was fine, though some neighbours were very noisy and the sound insulation between the studios was poor - not an issue the owner could really have dealt with. We were going back this year, but found better accommodation in Skala - I'm not telling you where, otherwise you'll all book it!
A very pleasant beach, though it can get crowded. The stones are a bit of a pain getting into and out of the water. We usually use this beach only once during our stay - then why should we when there are more comfortable beaches on the island.
Beautiful setting and yes there are lot of big waves, big stones and it can get very busy. Get there early and leave early! Walking on the small white pebbles along the water's edge is a unique experience. Worth a visit.
Also had two glorious weeks in Skala this year (our 5th visit) and we certainly enjoyed the beach and the sea once again. The water always is nice and clear.
Best seen from above - gets rather crowded. Excellent for the photo album, but we didn't stay.
Usually hire from CBR in Skala - very pleasant, car nice and clean and no problems whatsoever.
2001, 2002, 2004, 2007 and now 2009........ just brilliant! Excellent accommodation, tavernas, weather, the lot.
