My friend and I stayed here for two weeks in September,2015. We had ground floor studios numbers 1 and 2. The rooms are quite big and spacious but lack of lights over the mirror and a bathroom mirror at least 6ft up the wall did not make it easy for getting ready to go out at night. These rooms are quite dark too as only one window at the front to allow in light. My friend had studio 2 and on our first morning there she discovered a leak coming from above. It dripped down the wall and caused a puddle. It was reported to the owner and also to the rep but nothing was ever done. A plumber did appear but nothing was done. With only a couple of weeks till the end of the season we were'nt really surprised but if it had been dripping along electric wiring or into a socket it would have been really dangerous. Sheets and towels were changed three or four times during our holiday and the bins were emptied every other day. The hot water was amazing...so hot all the time. There was never any lack of it. The studios are about a five minute walk from the town square and plenty of tavernas but there are two tavernas within 100 metres of the property,Apostolis..lovely meals at great prices is just two blocks away and Maki's which is really friendly with huge portions just round the corner. Skala was bigger than we expected with well equipped supermarkets and plenty of tourist shops.we got the bus to Poros and were the only passengers both ways !!!! The bus time table, again due to the time of year was a bit hit or miss. The only down side to Skala is the beach. It really is very pebbly..beach shoes are needed...and there is quite a deep shelf to get over to get into the water, which, once you are in , is quite clear. As I said earlier we were here at the end of the season and although new people were arriving many places were closing down..tavernas and snack bars where we had been one day had closed and were cleared out and locked up the next. Skala is a very nice place..if I was to return I'd go a little earlier in the year however I would probably find somewhere in Kefallnia with a sandy beach and visit for the day.
Have just returned from 2 weeks staying at George Studios. We were in room 5, this seemed to be the smallest room there and was like an oven especially during the night when we had to sleep with the doors open. Fan hire was available at 10 euros a week, you will need it! It honestly was so hot in there though I think the fans should have been free.
It is in a nice location out of the way of everything, just tucked away round the corner and a brief stroll up the hill from the main square by the internet cafe. There were lots of farmyard noises during the night and a mad dog too but the sound of the fan blocked them out! I'm not sure if it was just the location of our room, but it was very noisy indeed. I think this was because the family live directly underneath this room and they spent most of the time having very loud chats into the early hours. I was phoning home from inside and the person on the other end asked what all the noise was!We stayed at the George Studios - just off the main road near to the Apostolis restaurant - a slight incline to walk from the centre of the village (uphill - 2 minute stroll from the corner between the internet cafe and Sally's Restaurant Bar)to the apartments - but nothing too strenuous for anyone with walking difficulties. Lots of fruit trees to look at en route and a "Lambourghini!!" tractor.
Simple but very clean. Very nice man runs the appartments. Slightly off the beaten track (i.e. 2 mins walk from the main road) which means that it's in a nice quiet position. Very close to a nice taverna which is definitely worth a try. 5 minutes walk to the beach and all the bars and restaurants. Recommended.
Hi - We are looking to book this accomodation next year in August 2005 - Can anyone provide information regarding this accomodation - Is it basic and clean? Can anyone describe where it is? Is it near to the Michalsi Apratment Studios?
