Vinaries Studios - (Accommodation in Lassi)

Fay W

I am interested in The Vinaries apartments in Lassi but the brochure says they only have baths not showers. Is this correct?

Horse Riding - (Kefalonia Excursions)

Fay W

Do these stables at Omala cater for
experienced riders i.e. Cantering, Gallopping,
jumping etc. My partner and I are keen riders,
not into plodding(!) We are visiting Kef in July
and always sample the local riding when we
take our hols.

Sto Psito - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Fay W

How can anyone rate this restaurant No. 1. I think we had our
worst meal here. After asking if they had the Octopuss and they
said yes, we sat down, ordered drinks which arrived and the
obligatory bread, then the waiter came back and said ‘sorry no
Octopuss’ so we had to order something else, if we hadn't
already started we would have got up and left. The food we
ordered was average and also the waiters could not be
bothered. Save the best meal of your Holiday for Monte Nero, by
far the classiest restaurant/ wine bar on the Lassi strip! I also
reccomend The Ionio with the blue checked table cloths and
also Phaedra, both excellent freshly cooked cuisine.

Phaedra Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Fay W

Excellent restaurant, the welcoming was genuine and friendly,
the service was excellent with very polite waiters and waitresses
and the food was delicious. Try the Octopuss salad, went back
twice for it!! My partner had meat dishes which were all cooked
to perfection. I would definitely recommend Phaedra

Liberatos Village - (Accommodation in Lassi)

Fay W

Just returned last night from Liberatos after having an excellent
holiday. The pool was huge, the snackbar/pool bar was excellent
and the apartments were spacious, clean and everything had
been thought of (including mozzi screens). Nothing was too
much trouble and though I had to report a broken shower hose
to George on the first morning, the handy man was around our
apartment like a shot to repair it! lovely guy!! Only complaint —
Tell people about the loo roll !! we were expecting the maid to
replace it, only to find when your first ‘free’ roll runs out, you have
to buy your own!! we only found out AFTER we had run out!! (we
don't mind buying it as long as someone tells us to start with!!)

Sad to hear about the feud with Oskar's. Didn't notice anything
myself but also didn't eat at Oskars as (due to reports on the
web) it sounded too pretentious. I suppose this is where the
internet has its downside, everyone has different needs and
taste.

THAT HILL!!! my partner and I timed it, 5 mins to walk down to the
main resort road, 8 mins to walk back up to Liberatos. Its not the
length, its the steepness! We only used a taxi twice, both times
coming back from a boat trip from Argostolli when we still had
sea legs!! 5 euros all the way back from Argostolli to Liberatos
or 5 euros just to go up the hill, its up to you to work out what's
better value and we'd rather put our money towards good food
and wine!! (Also felt sorry for families with small kids and
buggies).

All that aside, I absolutely loved the Liberatos Village and would
recommend it to anyone!

Melissani Lake - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

Fay W

Good value for 5 euro and you get a booklet explaining about the
caves of Kefalonia. Go in your own time with a hire car as all the
coach parties turn up at once at about 12.00 midday in their
hundreds!!! Germans and Italians all pushing and shoving down
the narrow entrance(and exit) tunnel. We got there about 11.40
and were in the boat by 12.05 making the most of the midday
sun on the water — beautiful!! oh and just sit back and enjoy the
singing boatmen, they obviously love their job!

Assos - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Fay W

Not much to do here except have an excellent lunch in the
restaurant next to the boat launch. Both my partner and I ordered
the stuffed squid which was fantastic (filled with big chunks of
mozerella and peppers) but the waiter got confused and only
noted for one, so when a dinner turned up, we thought the other
would be along shortly and when it didn't, we asked the waiter.
He was sooo appologetic that we still gave him a tip as it gave
us an excuse just to sit and feed the fish and enjoy a lazy
afternoon in a beautiful village.

Fiskardo - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Fay W

Pretended to be a rich yachie and tried on vastly overpriced
jewellery!! Sat and had a fresh orange juice on the balcony of the
cafe with the sunflower tablecloths, came to 7 euro for two but
worth it for the surroundings and views! Found the only shop on
Kefalonia that sold ’Zoe’ T-shirts, excellent quality and selection
of colours, they feature ancient greek images, The Trojan Horse
is the best one! (though all look good on blokes!!) do all your
prezzie shopping here, its sooo unique (!)

Myrtos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Fay W

Posing potential? What's that all about? anyway back to the
beach (this is my first beach review!)..... Pebbles hurt like hell to
get into the foreboding sea but was well worth it. Lovely wild
beach! part white sand part large/small white pebbles Don't take
your kids there, we saw some stupid parents letting their
toddlers get smashed about by fierce waves. Even though I've
given it below average ratings in the given categories, my partner
and I loved it and had a great sundrenched afternoon there.

Fiat Seicento - (Hire Cars in Kefalonia)

Fay W

A great little car especially if you are small framed. Perfect for
driving up the notorious mountain roads near Assos and
crossing the water break road in Argostolli.
We hired ours from CBR in Lassi (opposite The Olive Press
restaurant). We searched for the best deal and CBR offered the
best. Yes they did have an excess charge (so ignore the Rep!) of
£300 euro if you had an accident but only if you are found to be
over the alcohol limit which is fair enough.
We hired our car for 3 days, got the fourth free and a full tank of
petrol. We were told to bring it back with at least a quarter of a
tank of petrol, we gave it back with half a tank, seen the whole
island and hadn't put a drop in!!!

Sirtaki Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Fay W

Have left all categories unvoted for as we never had a meal in
Sirtaki. Just reading their menu totally put us off, completely
uninspiring.

Glass bottom boat trip - (Kefalonia Excursions)

Fay W

First bit of advice if you are staying in Lassi—don't book through
the Rep! Book at the boat in Argostolli harbour. You save
valuable beer/taxi money of 12 euros per couple and you can
walk to Argostolli harbour and get a cab for 5 euros back (and if
you get there earlier than the reps coach you get the best seat!!!).
One of the guys who worked on the boat had visited my local
pub, The Malter Inn on the Medway at Maidstone (Sorry didn't get
your name, you looked Greek but had a Wiltshire accent!!)
The boat trip itself was excellent, the water volley ball a complete
hoot and the food was enough for an army. All in all an excellent
day out (p.s. I ate so much I couldn't eat that evening!!!)

July - (Best Time to Visit)

Fay W

We took July 13th-27th (just before school hols!) and stayed In
the Liberatos village in Lassi. It was Hot Hot Hot! But being at the
top of the hill, had a lovely breeze which kept our apartment
bedroom at the back of the lodge nice and cool! Our balcony
from the lounge at the front overlooking the resort had the sun all
day. PERFECT!!!

Lourdas Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Fay W

Only stopped for a Greek salad in a beachfront restaurant so
have left votes unchanged. Looked OK, but nothing to write home
about and the hills are steeper than Lassi. Just glad I wasn't
staying here!

Makris Gialos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Fay W

This beach is breath taking when you first walk down the steps
to it. We found if you go to the right, the sunbeds thin out to
having their own little coves in between the rocks. Further on just
put your towel down on the beach and go snorkelling in fantastic,
fish filled waters. EXCELLENT!!!

Skala Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Fay W

I was a bit disappointed with the south of the island, its obviously
still a developing area. We only stopped for a look here as Pine
trees mean only one thing....WASPS! But the beach looked
spacious and clean. Again, glad I wasn't staying here.

Lassi Resort - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Fay W

To Faye Haigh
Don't worry about your apartments, they are centrally located very
close to the main beach and Malibu pool bar just to the right
about 100yds away.
My favourite restaurants are: 3rd Phaedra— The best Octopuss
salad I have ever tasted!; 2nd— The Ionian (Blue checked
tablecloths) just the best freshly cooked food, no microwaves
here! and finally, 1st— Monte Nero. just pure class, from garlic
and feta butter to the best fillet with Fois grasse. Save this one
for your last night!!!

Lassi Resort - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Fay W

We stayed in The Liberatos village. I found Lassi to be the ideal
base to explore all the island. It is a great resort to come back to
after a hard days sight seeing as the majority of the restaurants
and bars are top quality and most have sunset views. The beach
is superb and ideal for families with small children as you can
go quite far out without going out of your depth!
Lassi comes to life at night. The resort is also within walking
distance of the capital Argostolli for great shopping and booking
boat trips. I would definitely go back to Lassi!

Liberatos Village - (Accommodation in Lassi)

Louise C

Loz — Why don't you just write to him direct at the Liberatos, I'm
sure he wouldn't want his address splashed all over the internet
(oh and don't be too disappointed if he doesn't reply, he looked
like the type of guy that could have a different girl every week!!)

Anti Samos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Fay W

This looked great from the approach road but couldn't believe
they charged you to park! We were only passing anyway.
We found the beach between Sami and Aghia Efima to be one of
the best on the island (even though it was a pebble beach). I
don't know what it was called but it was the only one and was
landmarked by The Saint Friday Restaurant/Bar. We had a
superb meal there and great snorkelling for the rest of the
afternoon (and the restaurants' car park was Free!!!).

Argostoli - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Fay W

Visit ”The Portside” taverna opposite the Port Authority building,
its where the locals eat and you get the most friendliest service
from the fluent English speaking owners (and the food was
excellent too).
DO NOT go to the first restaurant on the promenade itself (if
you're walking from the direction of the waterbreak road). We
sent our meals back and walked out. The Kefalonian meat pie
and the pastito were both reheated in a microwave, dry pasta,
burnt at the edges and soggy fat filled pastry DISGUSTING!!! (first
time on any holiday we have ever had to do that!)
Lassi is the local beach, Shopping is excellent and Café Culture
nightlife is enjoyable.

Makris Gialos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Fay W

Have a look at my photo of Lassi Beach that I have added (see
top of page). Just says it all really!!!!

Glass bottom boat trip - (Kefalonia Excursions)

Fay W

To Sarah Powell
The Glass bottom boat can be booked on the
harbour front in Argostolli (you can't miss it!)
but it will be a bit of a trek in a hire car if you
want to book it yourself. I would book with the
Rep if you are staying in Lourdas, the extra six
euro with the rep will probably cover the
hassle of DIY. The dolphins would all depend
on sea temperature, I didn't see them on the
glass bottom boat trip but did a week later on
the Zante trip in mid July

Glass bottom boat trip - (Kefalonia Excursions)

Fay W

50 euro each, 56 with Rep. Only one boat trip a day with only one
coach load a day. Plenty of room and food for everyone. 9.00am
-5.00pm. you won't want to eat in the evening!!! LOVED IT!!

Liberatos Village - (Accommodation in Lassi)

Liberatos V

Lisa Jacobs...you must be a fat lazy cow!

Glass bottom boat trip - (Kefalonia Excursions)

Fay W

NO.... we found it was 12 euro cheaper (per couple) booking
direct with Captain Makis at the boat itself!!

Liberatos Village - (Accommodation in Lassi)

Fay W

This is getting ridiculous now, its obvious someone from Oscars
is trying to hijak this site from Liberatos.
Once again.... I stayed in the Liberatos July 13th-27th. The
complex is excellent, the staff go out of their way to make your
stay as enjoyable as possible, nothing is too much trouble. The
apartments are first class and very clean especially the newer
blocks. The pool and snack bar are excellent and Dennis is a
normal friendly bloke who speaks to couples, women, men,
young or old, he just makes sure you are enjoying your holiday!!!
Liberatos offer a BBQ every Thursday with greek dancing and a
pool party on Saturday nights, the bar is open till late every night.
Liberatos is located in an ideal position, it is not far from the
resort centre and I have stayed up far steeper hills in Gran
Canaria!! The supermarket is more expensive but aren't all
family run shops just like over here!
All in all this is an excellent location for a holiday for couples or
families alike!! and no, I am not being paid by Liberatos!!
I would definitely go back to Liberatos if I was staying in Lassi
and would recommend it to anyone.

Portside Restaurant - (Restaurants in Argostoli)

Fay W

A big Thank you to Rosa who rescued me with the best fresh
whole grilled Octopus in town after I had been to a nearby
restaurant and had an argument with a greasy woman chef and
had to send my meal back ! (it was microwaved and burnt). Rosa
even added extras for free as I was so shaken by the experience!
We had already eaten here once before and remembered the
friendly welcome and excellent food also the locals eat here
which is always a good sign! Portside is on the waterfront road
opposite the Ports Authority building.

Chinese Dragon - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Fay W

The manager was so unfriendly it was unbelievable!! Our drinks
took ages and when we asked about them he said " You'll get
them in a minute!". When we ordered our meal (just some rice
for two and two main dishes as we had a boat BBQ during the
day) He said "so you don't want starters then!" (in a huffy voice)
and on leaving I spotted a beautiful pinky coloured Gheko on the
wall and as I studied it, he said " Its only a damn Lizard!" We
didn't say anything to upset him and were not rude in any way.
This place was AWFUL, don't go there unless you want to have
an extremely expensive pig out (more expensive than your
average Chinese restaurant over here) and be publicly insulted!!
The food was nothing to write home about either!

Ionio Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Fay W

BLUE/WHITE CHEQUERED TABLE CLOTHS AND BLUE OIL
LAMPS!
This was my second favourite restaurant (nothing compares to
Monte Nero!) we loved the traditional taverna setting, the waiters
and waitresses were friendly as were their little helpers (two six
year old Greek girls) and the food was exceptionally good (fresh
stuffed squid to die for!!) no frozen food here. prices were
excellent for quality of food and wine. Eat here at least once on
your holiday!

Monte Nero - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Fay W

This is "The Ivy" of the Lassi strip! They serve the best wines of
Kefalonia with an extensive wine menu giving full descriptions of
each one. You know when you walk up that red carpet, you are
going to get the star treatment!
Right from the first sculptured ball of feta and garlic butter, you
knew you were in for a treat. We had the perfect grilled Octopus
for starters then I had a Fillet steak with Fois Grasse (Goose
liver) on a savoury sponge bed. Delicious!! My partner who is not
too adventurous but likes hot spicy food, had the meatballs
Mexicana. Huge spicy minced beef balls covered in a hot
mexican sauce with the biggest King Prawns on top that I had
ever seen!!
If you are very rich, eat here every night and just go through the
menu!! I wish I could have done!! BEST RESTAURANT 10/10

Chinese Dragon - (Restaurants in Lassi)

Fay W

So I didn't rate your restaurant! maybe this will teach you a bit of
customer service (you never know, you could be serving a
journalist!).
OK you didn't say "Damn" but the way you said it and the tone of
your voice, you might just as well had. If the Gheko is a regular by
the light, give it a name maybe, make light of it, us Brits don't see
lizards everyday so to us they are interesting and we do have a
closer look.
If I return to Lassi I will give your restaurant another go and I will
make sure I am very hungry as I do love Chinese food. We just
fancied a snack on this occasion but were treated as if we had
commited a crime.

Liberatos Village - (Accommodation in Lassi)

Fay

Just a little note to all at Liberatos.
Hope you had an excellent season and wish you all an even
better one in 2004. Keep up the excellent standards in your
superb apartments (spotless, modern and spacious) and the
beautifully maintained pool area.
Ignore all the morons who insist on using this site to boost
Oskars, most of them are so stupid they can't spell or speak
English correctly (so they are probably Greeks employed by
Oskars!)
I would go back to Liberatos and I will recommend the village as
a place to stay to anyone who wants to holiday on Kephalonia.
Good Luck and see you again one day.
