Also Oskars on the fanari Rd is delicious, never had a bad meal and the entertainment is fabulous,

Great place - a bit up market with linen napkins etc.  We tried the Meatballs which were superb, a lovely evening would recommend to anyone.

On a wet and windy night we dodged into the first restaurant that caem our way, which just happened to be Monte Nero. It was our best meal in Lassi, by far. The whole place is rather smart, with proper napkins, and so on. The access to the loos was through the kitchen and the smells were rather enticing[the food that is]. Veal with mushrooms in orange sauce was very good; Coq au vin also; lamb in a flower pot [thats what they called it on the menu!] also very good. It took ages to order because the menu was so extensive. Prices on the high side but good value in my book. Its always good to see locals dining in a restaurant, and there were quite a few here.

Wonderful meal chicken with cream and mushroom sauce.Thank you Banos it was great to see you 15 years later you have not changed

My wife and I ate at the Monte Nero once during our stay.  The staff were relatively friendly, and the service OK.  I had lamb in honey which was very nice, my wife however had the swordfish.  As soon as it was served I could smell it was off  (this was from the other side of the table), even though they had overcooked it to disguise the smell.  There is no way that the chef could not have realised that this was a seriously decomposing piece of  fish, it was completely rotten.  The waiter eventually came over and asked if there was a problem, and we explained.  Even he screwed his face up when he smealt it.  Needless to say we weren't charged for the swordfish.  Other than this, the rest of the meal was OK, but we thought it best not to return.

FANTASTIC - Came to Kefalonia to get married. Family from England & Denmark. Spent last two weeks in Lassi and ate at Monte Nero many times and could not fault the food, service, or price. After the wedding (05/09/06) we held our reception for 37 people at the restaurant. The pre-discussions were so easy, nothing was a problem to organise. On the day everything went well, with many compliments from our guests about the excellent food and good service. We wish to thank the management & staff at Monte Nero for making our wedding day so special. We can recommend this restaurant highly for special events. Email them at: montenero@acn.gr Thank You Monte Nero, From Lee & Bettina.

We ate here twice during our Weeks stay in Lassi.  We loved it, it is a little more expensive that the other restaurants but well worth it.  Proper table cloths, linen napkins and comfortable seats.  I work in the hotel trade and these things are important.  The bread comes with lovely garlic butter and olive paste which my Nephew thought was out of this world.  The lovely red carpet leading up to the Restaurant is a nice touch.

The waiters were pleasant and polite but as with every restuarant we visited it takes forever to get the bill!

Seriously bad food. Arrived 5 minutes after ordering and seemed like it was lunch time or the night before heated up in a microwave. Had a briam that was luke warm and flaccid. Wife had some sort of doughy spaghetti that was also foul. Wished I hadn't eaten here and stopped me from eating out in Lassi for the rest of the week. Argostoli is only five minutes away after all.

We have just come back from a week in Lassi and went to Monte Nero once during our holiday. The restaurant looks quite upmarket but that it just the image they are going for. The service we recieved was extremely pleasant and quick and all the staff we came across were very friendly. The meal was absolutely superb (a certain type of meatballs - can't remember the exact name ) there was so much flavour, it was cooked to perfection and it was presented wonderfully! It was something you would expect to find in a top restaurant back here, and I'm sure you'd be expected to pay around £20 here too (it was 17 euros for that specific dish). So I disagree with people who say the prices are a rip off, as I believe you only get what you pay for! And there are cheaper dishes available, starting at around 6 euros, should you have a tighter budget. It was definately the best meal I had that week and would definately return.

Have visited this restaurant at least once for each of the last 5 years and seen it's steady decline to become probably the only one I won't re-visit within a 2 week holiday.Food is poor, service slow & prices not value for money compared to others.

Just got back from Kefalonia today with my fiancee, we went there twice and had a great meal there both times.   There were a lot of nice restaurants in Lassi which we went to but would say this one was the best!!!!....Good value for money and plenty of choice...Service was always very good!.

PS - Chicken Fandago and Lamb Mediterrean - both really good!!!!

Visited Monte Nero once during our holiday and to be honest, did not really enjoy the experience. It is trying to be a little to posh and it doesn't work very well.

Emma M

This place not only had great food but it had great service too. The food was excellent, we went there twice. The first night unfortunately my partner didn't like his starter very much but didn't make a fuss and the waiter was adament if he didn't enjoy it he wasn't paying for it. We just left an extra large tip instead

We went to Kefalonia  over 5 years ago now and am so pleased to hear the Monte Nero has kept its charm and great food, we ended up eating there every other night.  Not only for the food, but also to watch the sun go down, it has the most beautiful view.  No-one else seems to have mentioned this, so make sure you go at sunset! We  hoping to return again this year(2 children later!)

We were recommended to eat here by a few people and we were glad we came. The food, service and atmosphere was all great.

Cat N

Lovely food and good service here, view over Lassi and the sea is good from here. wish we had went here earlier in the holiday.

Rich C

We found this place on our second night there and then ate here a total of 5 times in the 2 weeks. Without a doubt I would say these were the best meals I've had in Greece. If you like your seafood you've got to try the sole normant.

The owner is a funny guy and staff always friendly and helpful.
Service isn't the faster you'll ever experience but why do you want to rush romantic meals!

  Forgot  to do the grading!!

We visited this place towards the end of our holiday as we had heard good reviews and all I can say is they must of been having an "off" night. My husband ordered the Risotto which was very salty and the kids food was lukewarm almost cold, mine was ok but nothing special. we didnt complain but opted not to go again. To cap it all when we got the bill they had charged us for a t bone steak at 15 euros instead of the risotto which was around 7 euros. I dont know if this was accidental or they werent expecting us to check the bill but it just added insult to injury.

Michelle

Went here due to all the reviews I had previously read.  Service is not rushed and you are given plenty of time between courses.  We ordered saganaki and tzatziki for starters and the meatballs with spaghetti and the chicken fandango for our mains, my only complaint would be that the rice was crunchy in places.

Bill H

simply wonderful. atmosphere, staff, food, perfect.  been twice to Lassi now and it is our favourite.

Ken B

this is the place we always go to on our last night in Kefalonia because the food has always been so good, and this year was no different.[Cant understand why we dont eat here more often].The grilled octopus was absolutely superb as was the octopus in vinegar, and i must have had the biggest T Bone steak I have ever had in Greece.Service was great considering the time of season. No doubt we will eat here more often when we return next year[our 10th visit]

Wendy T

THIS WAS DEFINATELY THE BEST RESTAURANT IN LASSI, THE MEZES STARTERS WERE BRILLIAN, LOADS OF FOOD.. WE ONLY FOUND THIS RESTAURANT ON OUR LAST NIGHT BUT HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT.

Peter H

We were in Lassi for the first two weeks in August and tried Monte Nero at the end of the first week. We ate there most nights from then on. Even though it was slightly more upmarket than some, (Proper napkins and tablecloths etc) and the service and food excellent, the prices were very reasonable.
We stuck to traditional Greek dishes and it was all excellent, tender meat, frsh veg and good quality house wine.
