We stayed at the Minas Studios for 2 weeks and were very lucky to get apartment number 4. Numbers 1 to 4 are on the top floor and I would agree with earlier comments that the views really are spectacular from them. Can sympathise with the chap who stayed in number 11 - we thanked our lucky stars we weren't put there as it really is a bit tucked away.
Couldn't fault the apartments at all - very spacious and clean with basic kitchen equipment, but everything you needed (except a corkscrew!).
Can't understand anyone needing ear plugs due to the road noise - what road noise? Also, music from Olive Press restaurant next door wasn't imposing in any way - in fact it was quite pleasant to listen to whilst getting ready, and generally finished by the time we went to bed anyway. Slightly louder on Greek night, but again it finished at a sensible time - maybe the people who were bothered by it spent there evenings in?
The location is spot on - turn left for the bars/restaurants and turn right for the best beach.
Would definitely go back and would book early again for the best chance of a top floor studio.
We didn't visit the So Simple until the end of our holiday, because it gave the impression of being a bit too trendy and also the drinks were more expensive in there. However, we decided to give it a go - and didn't go back again! The atmosphere was good, but the drinks seemed to be a bit of a con - beer and wine were more expensive than the other bars and the cocktails tasted like they hadn't even been shown the alcohol. We weren't on our own with this opinion and did here other customers complaining on their way out that it was "a con"!
So Simple? More like 'So Sober'.
Nice bar but drinks slightly more expensive and the measures were slightly smaller. Only went once as there were equally nice/nicer bars, charging less money.
Food and sevice good here. We visited 3 times in 2 weeks. Only thing I would fault is that the meal is a bit rushed - you feel as if they know they can use the table 3 times in a night if they get you in and out. Would definitely recommend though. The Sirtaki Garden bar, which is next to the restaurant, was lovely for a drink or too before dinner. Plus, if you eat at the restaurant, they give you a card to use in the garden bar which gives 10% off. Worth having if there's a large party of you and you stay for a couple.
Visited here twice in our two weeks - food was good both times. Service was very good and the location is excellent as with being higher up, you can see the sun setting and people watch along the main road too!
This restaurant has a nice setting, but can be a bit too open on a windy night. It was the only restaurant we went to where we felt a bit short of privacy as the tables were a little closer than we would have liked (maybe we just had the wrong table?) We had a bit of a nightmare with my meal as I'm not a fan of fetta and they seemed to put it in everything! Even the bread came with Feta Butter! However, my partner had penne pasta arabiatta and said it was one of the best meals he'd had in Lassi so all was not lost.
This restaurant is just so run of the mill and I think it was only so busy because of it's very central location. The food was really average - far better meals in other restaurants in the resort. The service was awful - not a smile to be seen. They made us feel like they were really doing us a favour by serving us. Would go back to Lassi, but would definitely not go to the Phaedra again.
We had a pretty average meal in here - didn't get a lot of it either. Didn't go on Greek night but I would imagine the atmosphere is a lot better then, as it was very quiet when we went.
First Choice were neither here nor there really. Much the same as other tour operators - I don't really think there's much to choose between any of them. We re-named our Rep 'Dolly Daydream' as she just floated around and didn't seem to know much about anything. Didn't have a lot of faith in her, but then we didn't really need her for anything thank goodness!
Really nice surroundings and the service was good. We went in here most nights and the only thing we could fault was that they could never leave a song on until the end and kept changing the music half way through, which was a bit irritating! Perhaps one of their staff hasn't got enough to do! Nice place though.
Fantastic beach - lovely soft sand in and out of the water. The sea was perfect for swimming and you could go a long way out before being out of your depth. Views are also really lovely.
2 sun beds and a brolly are a bit expensive at 10 Euros - also the sun bed man really does need to get a proper system going as he can't remember who's paid and who hasn't and was often offending people asking them for money when they'd already paid (us included).
However, this didn't put us off and we thoroughly enjoyed our days on the beach, especially our morning 'fresh doughnut' - absolutely delicious!
We visited from 8-22 July and stayed in Lassi. The beach was quite busy but never uncomfortably packed. The resort wasn't packed either - there are enough bars and restaurants for everyone, even at peak season. Very hot - first week the evenings were cooler with no humidity, but the second week was boiling and not easy to sleep at night. Would still go again at this time though as we love the sun!
What a beautiful place. Fiskardo is slightly more expensive, but then so are most tourist attractions. It's worth paying the extra though to be part of the atmosphere and appreciate the scenery. A really pretty place and one of my favourites in Greece so far.
Interesting and enjoyable, but a bit over priced for how long it lasted. The boatman dropped that many heavy hints for a tip, it's the wonder the boat didn't sink! Ended up costing us 12 Euros in total for about 10 minutes! Worth a look though.
Lassi is an ideal resort for 2 weeks holiday. More than enough bars/restaurants to go somewhere different every night - although we did have our favourites after a few nights!
The resort didn't seem that busy, even though it was the middle 2 weeks of July - there's enough space for everyone, even at peak season.
We hired a car for 3 days and had a good look at most places on this beautiful island - Lassi has definitely got the sandiest beaches and is an ideal base with being only 15 minutes from the airport and 5 minutes from Argostoli.
We will definitely go back in the next few years.
