Hi John - The Nine Muses is situated along the beach road in the direction of Poros, just past the open air cinema
Just got back from two weeks at this amazing hotel. Everything about it was wonderful. The staff are polite and helpful, our maid was lovely and she kept our room spotless. The bathrooms are beautifully fitted with the most amazing showers. We had a small kitchenette area (as we were self catering and had a studio), a lovely main area with twin beds and plenty of room and although the balcony was quite small, it was more than adequate for us to have our breakfast in the morning and a glass of wine late in the evening. The pool is clean and warm and because this hotel caters for mainly adults, it was lovely to swim around without being splashed by children. The location is right on the beach and with temperatures up in the high 30's every day, it is nice to get away from the sweltering heat around the pool. At least there is a breeze coming in off the sea! The Aeolos restaruant is excellent and if you are staying at the Nine Muses you also get a 10% discount - and you can sit out on the terrace and watch the sun sink down over the Ionian sea. We had a truly wonderful stay at this hotel and have already booked up to go again the same time next year. If you are going soon, you will not be disapointed.
have stayed at captains house 3 times(wont be going back!)..need a place that doesnt invove going uphill just where is the nine muses???
The Nine Muses was a fantastic hotel. It was top quality with great rooms, some with double beds, wonderful power showers with hot water and immaculate grounds and a great pool. We loved our room and woke up every morning to see the sun rising over the sea from our balcony. Very friendly and helpful reception and restaurant staff. The restaurant was in a lovely location overlooking the sea which made breakfast so enjoyable.
We have just booked up to return next year!!
We have just returned from a 2 week stay at the Nine Muses and it is the best hotel we have stayed in in Greece. The rooms were clean and unusually they have doubles. The showers were brilliant as we are used to a trickle in Greece with a bit of hot water if you are lucky. Here they are more like power showers with hot water whenever you want it! The grounds were immaculate and the pool lovely. Great view of the sun rising every morning from our balcony too. Situated just opposite the beach where I got stung by a jellyfish on my first day!
We stayed at the Nine Muses Hotel last year for a week and have just returned from a two week stay this year. Another excellent stay at an amazing complex with the most friendly, helpful staff you could wish to share your holiday with. We will return again.
Has anyone stayed at the Louis Apostolata Hotel? Any info would be gratefully received
As previous enquiry we are visiting scala 3 oct 04 and are curious about what kind of weather to expect. Any first hand knowledge of this time of year?

the e-mail address of the nine muses hotel
just come back from nine muses. we found it to be a good 4 **** hotel. It seemed to be the best in Skala.Nice and small and clean. The grounds were quite pretty and the location was very good, right opposite beach. We did not try food there[apart from breakfast]until nearing end of hol as we like eating out. We then went twice as the food was very good.We found a week in Kefalonia was enough ,as we had seen whole island by then.Very pretty.Would go again to same place as it was the best.Beach not suitable for children.
Elaine Payne asked which type of room would be best to stay in, i dont have the answer to that but i thought i would let you know that i booked up this hotel for 15th june 04 and i got the last place in the whole complex and i booked it over 2 months ago.
Excellent standards at hotel and restaurant is better than a very poor average in the area of Scala.Have not been to Greece for two years but restaurant prices up 75% by my reckoning with no change to quality.Scala beach a dissapointment and unsafe bathing for little ones.Despite all this and Scala being a British colony, the holiday was very good and hotel great.
I would like to go to the Nine Muses hotel in Scala in June 2004, as it sounds great, but am not sure if it is better to book a twin room with bed and breakfast, or to go self-catering in a studio. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks very much for your help Rebecca.
European Air Charter were OK, I wouldn't rave about them though. Flights were on time both ways (in fact coming home it left 45 minutes early !!). Food, however, was dreadful so take some sandwiches with you !!! Enjoy the Nine Muses though, that more than makes up for the flight !
Due to stay at this hotel in late August with First Choice. Did anybody fly using European Air Charter (EAF) - Boeing 737. I believe that Monarch were the original carrier. If so what were they like - good/bad/on time?
Thanks in advance.
Message for Edwin Sherwood. See my message below on 9th July for website and email address. Hope this is helpful.
The e-mail for the Nine Muses Aparthotel in Skala, Kefalonia
Another Message for Margaret Ellis. I have just booked up 2 weeks for the begining of July next year on the First Choice web site. You will get availability and confirmation immediately. Check it out on www.firstchoice.co.uk. Good luck!
Message for Margaret Ellis. Only First Choice do this hotel now, or you can book direct. See my earlier message for the website and email address, although I think a package holiday from First Choice works out cheaper. Hope this is helpful.
Can someone please advise which Tour Operator goes here
What a top place to stay, from Peter the manager & staff to Christos and Co in the restaurant, nothing was too much trouble, do not change a thing.Looking forward to returning, if we can get in?? stay away people it is awfull really hee hee.
We returned on Tuesday and can't wait to go again. As everyone says the accommodation is great, even down to having a vase of fresh flowers left in your apartment. The best place we have ever stayed in.The Aeolos Restaurant is excellent, the food well presented and very good service too.
The Nine Muses is a fantastic place to stay. The apartment is really comfortable and the complex is the best I have stayed in- I would recommend it to anyone!. The only down point is the beach- its sand/shingle and there are pebbles/stones to negoiate when getting in and out of the sea. Apart from that Skala is wonderful; nice and relaxing with lots of good places to eat such as the excellent old village (Zorbas). A good bar to visit is the folie cafe- it does buy one get one free!
absolutely brilliant holiday. the hotel was first class when it came to friendliness, location to Skala village, cleanliness, beautiful swimming pools, a manager who makes the effort to greet you when you arrive and hug you when you depart. wonderful holiday. would recommend it for people who are looking for relaxation away from the hub-bub. ideal for couples.
Message for Clive. I have just returned from 9 Muses and it's fantastic. Owned by American Greeks so you can imagine the standard. Remote controlled air-con, fridge, kettle and hairdryer in all rooms. The website is www.9museshotel.com and email address is 9muses@aias.gr. Hope this is helpful and enjoy your stay.
Hi there, having read the excellent comments on the nine Muses Aparthotel, I would like to contact the hotel directly by E'mail to arrange accomodation there.
If you have their mail address could you forward it to me?
Thanks for your time - great site.
Cheers for now
Clive.
This was our first visit to Nine Muses, and I hope it will not be the last, everything about it was excellent.
This is a excellent place to stay just dont go around telling folk
Lovely hotel, lovely people, friendly service. we are returning in June 2004 only 3 rooms left already!. We had an excellent holiday go for two weeks, a week is not enough.
this hotel is like visiting a dream come true! we ahd such a great time and all the staff are just soooooo friendly. you cant get cleaner or quieter than this hotel, it is "simply the best....doooo,doo,ddoooo do....better than all the rest"
it's so great i cant wait to return in August!
A MUST GO......trust me!
Having just returned yesterday from a 2 week stay at the 9 Muses, I have to say it was the most luxury I have ever experienced when visiting a Greek Island. The accomodation is lovely, power shower, air conditioning with a remote control so you can set it yourself, a TV(Ready Steady Cook is quite amusing in Greek although there are a few English channels if you like to keep up with events and weather at home),and a real king size bed. The self catering equipment appeared brand new too. The staff are very helpful and I was amazed when, alighting from the coach on arrival, all our cases were collected by a guy on what looks to be a flat bed golf buggy, and delivered to our room. There are 2 pools here, the main one which tends to get busy, and 'junior' pool which is at the back of the complex(just up the hill from the chapel). This pool is smaller and only 6 feet deep but it does have a bar and toilets. The gardens are excellent and you will regularly see the 2 young handymen clipping hedges, sweeping up leaves etc. The location was perfect for the 2 of us, lovely and quiet, a 5 minute walk from the main streets and 2 minutes from the beach. This hotel is lovely and I can't wait to rebook for next year!
The hotel is owned by 3 Greek/Americans, so the service is a professional, customer focused set up. Amenities great, the rooms are astonishing for a greek hotel, marble in bathrooms, large power showers, maid service every day. 2 minute walk from the beach, 10 mins into town. Cannot fault this gem of a hotel, we will be back, and we never normally go back to the same place. Please go and enjoy like we have.
It truly is the most wonderful place you can imagine. Not like being in a hotel at all as each "room" is like a separate apartment. The setting is glorious with all manner of flowers cascading down over your patio or balcony. Very private with excellent facilities. The staff are very friendly and professional.
