Ammes Beach

Svoronata rocks, Ames beach is brill and Sotiris Studio apartments and the family well you couldnt ask for anything more.The whole of the holiday was wonderful,ARGO travel company, you did well everything ran smoothly from beginning to end. Met some wonderful people and made some good friends as well.

By far the best beach in the area (and possibly on Kefalonia) has to be Avithos Beach. The golden sand is very clean though sometimes hot at midday. The sea was warm, very clean and lovely to swim in. Facilities were great aswell sunbeds and umbrellas for hire but the best bit was the little beach bar which sold everything from cold drinks/beers, ice creams, snacks and sweets. It was the ideal beach to relax and enjoy the sun! The two restaurants were good aswell, great food and great views on a night time!

The sand was clean, the water was incredibly clear, warm and you could walk out for miles without it coming above waist level.

Angela's snack bar on Ammes was the best out of all the beaches we tried - she was always friendly and the food was fresh, tasty and excellent value for money. The view across the bay was great too.

we tried all three of the beaches, helis and avithos being the better 2. our favourite is the aptly named avitoff,try going beyond the large rock on your far left.we where there late september,nudism is ok there also you could be lucky and have the beach to yourself as we did.

Avithos and Aghios Helis are brilliant - you'll be exhausted getting there, but then you can just crash before you have to try and get home again. Take your own lunch and drinks though, as the beach hut is not cheap if there are more than 2 of you! My kids LOVED Ammes beach; for them, the jets coming in to land so close were a bonus (maybe four in a day)and after 16:00 there is virtually no international traffic anyway. It also has the wonderfull asset of being only about 20 metres down from the road - and you will only know what a blessing that is when you have visited the other beaches in the area.

We found the Avithos beach the best in Svoronata - most of the locals will inform you of this if you ask. The sand is nice and golden and the water is clear. It can get a bit choppy at times in September though.

Thankfully were are not beach people because the beach is at the end of the runway, you can actually see the pilot as the plane passes overhead! Take a stroll to the other side of Svoronata the beach there is much better.
