What a lovely place. Extemely well run by Kostas and his family. He really is a good host.
Don't miss his BBQ and Quiz night - Good value, too much to eat and very entertaining.
Small and friendly but spacious. Good pool - (maybe too deep for poor swimmers) Plenty of comfy sun loungers.
The resort itself is quiet. A dozen Tavernas spread out over a mile or so from the main road (quiet)
beneath Eleni down to the beach. Quite a hike back up though !
Only a few of the usual mini markets, nothing special in them though - just the usual.
You can hire a decent car from Express ( Frankie - big bald guy, say
his name straight away and you might get it even cheaper) 30 Euros a
day - that was the best deal I could find.Fully comp.
A quiet charming resort on a quiet charming island, run by charming friendly people
Kostas, Alex, Theresa and the one and only Illios.
Illios I know you read these - you are a fine fellah - take a note of
my email address and get in touch if you need any help in
England. Take care mate.
Returned from Kefalonia and the Eleni Studios a week ago and have to say we were not disappointed. Kosta and his family and staff fully deserve all the praise heaped upon them from contributors to this website. Kosta was very accommodating (we had my 80+ year old parents with us) and looked after us very well.
The barbecue night was fantastic, and especially when we won the quiz with Margaret and Malcom the second week. Shame you weren't there to see it Ray and Rodders!!
We had read the reports before we went and thought it must be great. Well what can we say, we were not disappointed! There was nothing we could find fault with. The service was excellent, the accommodation was great, the rooms were very spacious and clean, and there was enough room for all 3 of us. Kostas your cooking is out of this world. You really looked after my vegetarian wife and our daughter who had a taste for your desserts. We would recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a relaxing holiday with a bit of fun, good food and good friendly service.
I would like to say a great big thank you to Kostas and Alex for another wonderful holiday.
Many thanks Fred for the info. Really looking forward to staying in Lourdas and at the Eleni after seeing so many good reviews. Have been to Kefalonia twice before and stayed at Sami and Lakithra. I think the island is stunning. I'm sure we will be fine at the Eleni and will certainly be sampling some of Kostas menus. Regards.
Can anyone tell me how far the nearest tavernas and beach are from the Eleni Studios? Also, is the actual complex on level ground (I realise the surrounding area is hilly but we will have car hire). Would we be able to push a wheelchair around the complex? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
We have just returned from a fantastic two week holiday at Eleni, thanks to Kostas and Alex, Ilias and Theresa for such a friendly, warm reception. Do not miss quiz night, very funny!!. Kostas is a great chef, my husband is very difficult to please, but says that the food at the Eleni is the best he has EVER eaten is Greece. We were very sad to leave as all the staff are so nice, Keep up the good work guys, we will be back.
Myself and two friends have just returned from a wonderful holiday spent at Eleni Studios and we will never forget the excellent hospitality afforded to us by Kosta Alex Karlos Teresa and all the staff, the food was gorgeous, accomodation lovely and of course Kefalonia is a wonderful Island, Thankyou all from The Golden Girls xxx
Fantastic!!!!!!!!
Thankyou Costas and Alex for a brilliant time , your humour and friendship were greatly appreciated. The menu was the best in Lourdas and the waitress Teresa the Irish colleen makes the best honey I have tasted get yourselves a jar you wont be sorry. Car hire is a must the island is too good to miss even if the steep drops had the wife clinging on for dear life. Our room was clean and spacious with views to die for, the shower was hot every time it was used. I have tried not to mention the hill but alas it must feature in my writeup it was a killer making a few stops when coming back up to the Eleni was the only way to cope. The local elderly ladies made short work of it and put us to shame. Quiz night and barby must not be missed dont eat too much of the first course as there is much more to follow, the wine is not half bad aswell
just returned from eleni. myself and family enjoyed a wonderful week there and would highly recommend it to anyone, particulary if you are looking for r&r. alex and kostas are indeed exellent and thoughtful hosts.
Just back from 2 weeks at Eleni. Had a great time - Kostas & Alex stll there, as is Theresa. Food was top notch, rooms & pool were sparkling clean, everyone very friendly and full of fun. The views are still there (and the hill!) - couldnt ask for a better vista.
We went to Kefalonia last September and we stayed at Eleni studios in Lourdas for two weeks. It was a good standard of accommodation and must say it was a fantastic place.Lovely location with amazing views. From our room we could see the beach of Lourdas. Some luckier people had the rooms in the corner from which they could see the beach of Lourdas and the mountain Enos. The room was big enough for two.It was basic and very clean. The hotel has a pool and a bar-restaurant.You can sit under the shade and enjoy lovely snacks and really cold drinks. The manager Costas runs a B.B.Q. and quize night once a week.We went to the B.B.Q. twice and we had fantastic food.At the end of the one night we won the first prize of the quiz which it was a meal for two one of the follwing days.I want to thank Costas and the rest of the staff for their hospitality. We will be back.
Hi Kostos. This is Heather and Marki. We are thinking of coming to Lourdas second time. Can you please inform us if we can book to Hotel Eleni individual or we have to book through Kosmar?
Hi there.I am Sue and I went to Kefalonia with my two best friends Sarah and Linda. We stayed at Eleni 3 appartments which are only five minutes walk through the olive-trees to main hotel Eleni. The rooms are basic but very clean. From our room we could see the beach of Lourdas, which is about three miles long, and the island of Zante. Hotel Eleni has a very clean pool and there is a mini restaurant at the side.Kostas is a fantastic man who cooks very good.We had dinner there every night. His wife Alex and the rest of the staff are very helpfuland they do their best to make our holidays special.Unfortunatelly we stayed one week only so this year we go back with our boyfriends this time.I definatelly reccomend to everyone.Thank you Kostas for making our holidays so special. We will be back in June.
FANTASTIC!!!BRILLIANT!!!SUPERB!!!What can you say about this hotel.I have been to Kefalonia once.I saw the nice comments for this hotel from the Internet.Kostos, the man who runs the hotel, made us feel very wellcome. His girlfriend ,Alex, had to wake up 7:00 a.m. every morning to cook breakfast for us because Kostos was lazy.(Joke jajajajaja). The staff was brilliant.Teresa,an Irish girl, was doing her best to keep the bar-restaurant in a very high-standard.Aspa as well was trying hard to make us feel very wellcome. The rooms were basic but very clean. We had the room No 16.What a view.Overlooking Zante and mountain Enas.e have only one compain. The bloody hill!!!But we have to thank that hill because made us to have dinner and be in the B.B.Q. night 12 out of 14 nights. The food was fantastic and very good value. This morning we just book to go back with some friends.Unfortunatelly it was fully booked so two of our friends have to stay somewere elsebut we all will spend our holidays around the lovely pool drinking cold lager.
P.S. Kostos,you should have GUINESS.
Kostas now has a new website up and running at www.elenistudios.info
the email of eleni studios is minetos@hol.gr
I stayed at the Eleni for a few days in June 2004. Have booked again for 2005 through Kosmar. Does anyone have Kostas and Alex e-mail address as I would like to contact them prior to my visit.
Can anyone let me have Kostas and Alex e-mail address. They have the Eleni studios in Lourdas.
We have just returned from two weeks of bliss in Kefalonia and whilst we were
accommodated elsewhere (Eleni was fully booked!) we enjoyed the full range of
Kostas first-class hospitality, cuisine and sense of humour. Every one of his guests
had the same opinion and many non-residents made use of his catering facilities.
Together with his wife, Alex, and staff member, Teresa they provided us with our best
ever holiday experience, NOTHING was too much trouble and his understanding of
the British sense of humour all contributed to this.
The island itself was beautiful, peaceful and more lush than we anticipated, the
weather was a little variable, but temperature reached 37 degrees - not bad for
September. Make sure you book a rental car as the terrain is quite hilly, and there's
plenty to see and explore around the island.
We'll be back!!
Best Wishes Kostas
Having first holidayed in Kefalonia 2 years ago, we decided to return to the Eleni Studios with 50 guests to get married. Kostas and Alex were as ever fantastic hosts and helped us make all the arrangements for our wedding. We block booked all of Eleni (apologies to any of you out there that are regulars during the week we booked) and were all able to enjoy a fun but relaxing week away. We have both struggled to find words to express just how perfect it was and we will have truly magical memories of our wedding day and the week spent with friends and family. The local officials were all very helpful and with Kostas' help the ceremony went off without any hitches. We got married in the town hall at Keramies and then ferried our guests by coach into Argostoli for photographs at the port before returning to Eleni for a truly maginificent feast prepared by Kostas, Alex and gang. We then danced and partied into the night having hired a sound system from som helpful chaps in Argostoli. For any of you who happened to be staying in Lourdas on 1st September, we apologise for the noise but can assure you that fun was had by all
Thanks again to Kostas and Alex and all who helped make our week so special. We can thoroughly recommend Kostas as a wedding planner (he was superb) and Kefalonia as the perfect destination for such occasions.
The only other one is Olympic who do the Fiona Hotel round the corner on the main road.
Just booked up for next May on the Kosmar web-site but it was not easy. If you want to find and book the Eleni Studios you have to do the following:
1. Choose "Click here for Quick Availability Search for 2004/2005"
2. Select dates, departure point etc choosing Kefalonia as the destination
3. Scroll down the full list of Kefalonis accommodation until you find "Eleni Studids - Lourdas"
4. Click continue.
I hope everybody finds this useful. Who knows why Kosmar have made so difficult to choose the best place to stay in Kefalonia??
PS. Kostas, I have booked the double bed studio. It would be fantastic if you moved the double bed to room 10!! ;-)
We have booked the Eleni Studios for 2005 (29 May - 5 June). Our friends also want to book but unfortunately the return flight is fully booked. The Olympic website does not show the Eleni for 2005.
Can anyone recommend any other travel operator and apartments in Lourdas that are near to the Eleni?
Definitely Kosmar next year.
It is definitely Kosmar next year. I have been on their website and the Eleni is listed.
Sometimes the pictures do not go in until the 2nd or 3rd edition of the brochure.
Cheers
can u help, i have just received the kosmar brochure for 2005 and the eleni studios are not in there
can u help, i have just received the kosmar brochure for next summer and the eleni studios are not in there, kostas said that he would be going with kosmar again next year.....
we have just come back from staying at the eleni studios, on our first visit to kefalonia. I must say that alex and kostas are the perfect hosts, they do everything to ensure that you have a nice holiday with them, we was staying at the eleni 2 studios which is about 5 minutes walk from the bar and pool area. We ate kostas' delicious food nearly everynight for 2 weeks, he must be one of the best chefs on the island. thanks for a wonderful holiday and hope to be back next year.
This was our first visit to kefalonia, and we was overwhelmed by the hospitality of Kostas and Alex, we stayed at the eleni 3 apartments, which was only about 5 minutes walk to the pool and bar area. Kostas made us some great food, we ate there most nights, as we found his food alot better than most of the nearby restaurants. We would not hesitate to go back again, we met some great people and seen some wonderful sights, thanks again to Kostas and Alex.
we had an excellent holiday/honeymoon. we actually got married whilst we were there and kostas and alex came to our wedding and looked after us very well.
i would like to thank kostas and alex very much and also thanks to tony (the best man) and his wife carole (the chief bridesmaid) - we have been to the eleni 4 times since last june as the people and the place is wonderful.
many thanks again to you all and see you in october kostas.xxxxx
This was our fourth visit to the Eleni since last June - we absolutely love the place and it was very sad to leave last Sunday.
We actually got married in Argostoli on 10th August and Kostas and Alex joined our celebrations, along with Tony (best man) and Carole (chief bridesmaid). It was the best day of our lives and to have these people with us on the day was the icing on the cake.
Kostas made us an excellent 2 course meal which was mouth watering. You will probably see the pictures of the food on the website soon.
We were not stressed at all and 2 hours after the wedding we were back at the pool.
I would like to say a big `Thank you' to Carole, Tony, Kostas and Alex for a wonderful day.
See you in October Kostas and Alex.
just had another great holiday at the eleni studios.costas and alex are fantastic hosts and nothing is too much trouble for them. Their staff are also the best, extremely helpful and friendly. Ray and Ann(our friends)had their wedding while at the eleni and everybody made it a very special day for them. Costas has a wicked sense of humour and his barbecue and quiz nights are not to be missed. He is also an excellent chef. All apartments have fantastic views of the mountains and the sea, although the hill is a killer. I guarantee you'll have the best holiday ever, if you can cope with the hill. We'll be back.
Carole and Tony
Had a fantastic holiday at the Eleni. It was our 5th visit to the island so we were quite prepared for the steep climbs. Kostas and Alex are superb hosts (nothing was too much trouble). As a rule we like to try as many local restaurants but the food prepared by Kostas was just so good we tended to 'eat in' at the Eleni bar and then wander down the the bars in the village. A 2 course meal was approximately £6.50 and during our 2 week stay there was never a repetition of menu. Starters included sea bass, smoked salmon, meatballs and mousaka and main meals such as traditional stews, steak, chicken etc and oh those desserts were to die for! Kostas was so accommodating and could basically rustle up anything requested.
And the finishing touch to our holiday. We arrived back in the UK to receive an email from Kostas and Alex wishing us a safe return.
Suffice to say, we will definately be going back in the very near future - Hazel, Martin and Bethany Evans (Bury, Lancashire)
Excellent
Just got back from 2 wonderful weeks at the Eleni. The studios were spotlessly clean and very spacious for 2 people. The pool/bar was great for a drink and you could get snacks anytime of the day. Kostas and Alex were wonderful host and Kostas is a wonderful chef.We sampled other restaurants but we thought that Kostas' cooking was the best. Made some great friends in that fortnight and no doubt we will be going back to the Eleni sometime in the future. Thanks Kostas and Alex for a great holiday.
Just back from Eleni apts - 206 - 4/7. I can agree with everything that has been said previously on this list.Eleni is beautifully situated with lovely views of the sea and olive groves in front - like staying at a nature reserve with the noises of cats, asses, goats, birds and the many types of very noisy insects !
The apartments are extremely clean, large and bright. They were cleaned on a regular basis and new bedlinen and towels changed often. The swimming pool was very clean, with plenty of sunbeds around it. The outside bar was a lovely place to meet other guests, serving breakfast, snacks and drinks through the day. With a special meal each evening.
Costas and Alex are wonderful hosts, very friendly and helpfull. As has been said before don't miss the BBQ and Quiz night. I don't who hinted or complained while we were there but suddenly one day we all had kettles on the doorstep !!
The Kosmar brochure is correct when it mentions all the hills, you have to drag/pull your cases a few yards down/up the hill when you arrive and depart !! Be prepared.
It is quite a hill down to the tavernas, or there is a goat track through the olive groves. The tavernas, supermarkets and car hire places are all together on one road(track!) At night everyone seems to be walking to and fro around that area - it was great while the football was on !!! Fireworks after the matches !!!
Our Kosmar rep Emma was brilliant (We later met her Mom and Dad who were in Lourdas too!) very friendly, professional, helpfull and knowlegable. We booked a trip 'The Onassis Cruise' - an all day boat trip around many islands - great value at about £38.00 each.
We'll definately be going back.
We spent a week at the Eleni from 30 May - I chose the holiday from the Kosmar website and never regretted a minute of it. When we were there Kostas was having talks with Kosmar about next year and just before we left the agreement with Kosmar was concluded - hence we have booked up for next year, however Kostas was talking to Olympic about the Eleni 3 for this year and you can get booked up with Olympic - although from the website (I did not ask Kostas at the time) the studios only accommodate 2 people.Kostas did say that Olympic would be offering 'fairly cheap' holidays although when I looked at 2 weeks in August this year the price was £465 per adult - so Kostas if you read this you can do the maths to see what Olympic are making on the deal.
We spent a week at the Eleni from 30 May - I chose the holiday from the Kosmar website and never regretted a minute of it.The accommodation was adequate for the three of us (13 year old son included) and of course the pool and pool bar add to the facilities. There is plenty of room in the room although we found hanging space and drawers to be a little on the small side so spending 2 weeks may be difficult with extra clothes. However we liked it so much we have already booked up for 2 weeks next year. The views are spectacular - particularly looking back towards and along the mountain and when the sky is clear you get tremendous views of Zante. We never made use of the air conditioning but this must be of great benefit during the height of summer.

We spent a week at the Eleni from 30 May until 6 June.We were the last to get dropped off by Kosmar and at 10pm in the evening you literally had not a clue where you were going after the other people had left the coach. No need to worry though,a short walk down THE HILL,turn right and we were shown to our room by Kostas himself. We had a lovely room on the first floor and in the morning the sea view was out of this world - see the photograph 'room with a view' on this site.We did not bother to unpack but went straight over to the pool bar to enjoy a drink (or 2) and have someting to eat - together with the gas heater which Kostas had provided as it was a little chilly. The pool was adequate and there were plenty of sun loungers although the weather could have been a bit better. The nearest restaurants are only 5 minutes down the hill and there is a wider choice a further 5 minutes away.Lourdas beach is pebbly rather than sand and the sea shelves away quite quickly although there are plenty of places to eat/drink.The walk back only takes 30 minutes although you do need to stop a couple of times for a minute or two. Trapezaki beach is sandy although a slightly further walk and with less in the way of facilities.Probably the better option if you hire a car - but why just go there if you have the whole of the island to explore. We used Maria's supermarket for provisions and found this to be quite cheap - not often you go to a shop and come away with a gift ! THis was our first visit to the Ionian isles, let alone to Kefalonia and all I can say is what have we been missing for the last 5 years or so. The Eleni is like staying in the countryside as you are woken up in the morning with the noise of donkeys, chickens, cockerels, sheep and goats,Kostas laughing!! - sorry Kostas!! and the whole of the area is just so peaceful, relaxing you will honestly NOT want to go home. Now the really good news - we are going back to the Eleni on 29 May 2005 for 2 weeks - booked up through Kosmar last Saturday and already looking forward to that. However because Kosmar have changed the return flight time for our Rhodes holiday on 17 July to a Sunday morning flight instead of a Saturday afternoon flight we have switched our July holiday to August and we are going back to Kefalonia although not staying at the Eleni as they are fully booked for the dates we wanted. We are staying further towards the beach but that won't put us off and we plan to visit the Eleni a few days to relax around the pool and enjoy Kostas' cooking.
Kosmar is the tour operator. We have stayed at the Eleni 3 times since last June and getting married there in August.
Unfortunately Kostas is totally booked up - we went again in May and on returning to the UK we checked his availability - the only week he had available was 12th September but not sure if this is still the case.
We are going again in October but because Kostas is closing we have had to book other accommodation.
Myself, Jules, Melissa and Hannah have just returned from a lovely relaxing week at the Eleni Studios. This was my and Jules second visit to Eleni Studios (we loved it so much the first time!!) and were pleased to see that after 3 years it was just as lovely and Alex and Kosta's were as accommodating as ever.
The only one comment I would have is that due to the increasing popularity of the poolside bar and the excellent meals Alex and Kosta's serve - the noise levels could be a little high. However, as we were leaving glass panelling was being put in place around the bar and hopefully this will rectify this.
We are all looking forward to coming back again very, very soon!
Does anyone know which tour operator is doing the Eleni in Lourdas this year, 2004?
Hi Kostas and Alex! Trying to book the Eleni again this year. Can you tell me which tour operator you are using for 2004? Love to you both, Therese & Stewart Skirving, Edinburgh, Scotland
We have just returned from as fantastic two week break staying at the Eleni Studios. We have totally fallen in love with the island and plan to return same time, same place next year. Alex and Costa were great fun and the perfecthosts. We also found ourselves in great company which helpedake the holiday really special.
The apartments themselves were bright and spacious and all have outstanding sea views. The facilities around the pool were excellent with the bar proving a variety of snacks through out the day. The night time menus were outstanding and exceptionally good value for money.
We were quite suprised at the number of resturants/tavernas on offer in Lourdas as the brouchure only indicated one or two. There were also a couple of well stocked mini-markets and souvenier shops. Lourdas beach is very pretty and had a number of beach side tavernas dotted along the front (although the walk back from the beach is literally quite breath taking!!!)Trapezaki beach is also worth a visit as it has a wonderful sandy beach andery shallow waters.
We would advise hiring a car as you can get round the majority of the tourist hot spots in a couple of days. Head to Agostoli for a good selection of shops and spend the evening in one of the resturants positioned in the square. Further up the coast Assos was just "marvellous" and well worth a vist. Very quaint and scenic. As is Fiscardo that can be reached in just over an hour. Skala was also a nice resort with a fantastic beach and interesting shops.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish Alex and Costa the very best for the rest of the season and hope to see them next year.
We have just returned from a two week holiday staying at the Eleni Studios and all I can say is we are already booking for next year. The combination of excellent food (thanks Costa!!!) great company and a fantastic setting made for an outstanding holiday.
Lourdas itself was a breath of fresh air. Personally I was pleasantly suprised at the number of tavernas/resturants on offer as the Kosmar brouchure indicated very few. I have to stay we were rather spoiled with the food on offer at out apartments and stayed at "home" most nights. Alex and Costa were the perfect hosts. Their relaxed and informal approach was just right. Costa's cooking was just exceptional and Alex makes the best hot chocolate on the island!!! Lourdas beach is very pretty and has a good selection of tavernas although Trapezaki beach was better for soaking up the rays. There are also a good selection of mini-markets which are v. well stocked and a couple of souvenir shops.
We hired a car and managed to see the majority of the island over 3 days. Assos is well worth the visit as is the 1hr 20min drive to Fiscardo. Skala is a 20 min drive and has a nice beach and a good selection of "tourist" shops and a number of tavernas/bars. We also had a couple of excellent nights dinning in the capital Agostolli.
We would like to wish Coast and Alex the very best for the rest of the 2004 season and can't wait to go back in 2005!!!!
Lorraine and Frankie.
Kostas and Alex, congratulations to you both on your recent wedding.
Sue and I were just scrolling through the website for old times sake and noticed the comments from one of your guests this year, which suggested you may have recently wed. Very best wishes to and good luck to you both for the future. From the comments so far this year, it is evident that your service to your customers is still secvond to none. Keep up the good work until we see you again sometime.
By the way we are still in contact with Jayne and Steve (The Champions), and will be seeing them again shortly.
Best Wishes Fred and Sue ( Libra Warriers)
Kelly & Jason Eleni studios email is minetos@hol.gr
For 2005 as far as we know the studios are with Kosmar holidays
You can call kosmar direct and book with them direct. The price is even better than the travel agencies. Enjoy your honeymoon in Lourdas
David
Have recently returned from a fab holiday at the Eleni Studios. 3 of us shared a room which was very spacious and had good facilities considering the usual standard of Greek accommodation!
The company was excellent and Alex and Costas very good hosts. The food is superb and the quiz night good fun.
I'm not sure I'd like to go during the school holidays as the pool tends to be full once 4 or 5 people are in it - especially with the Lilos as well.
If anyone reads this who was staying at the Eleni between 23 and 30 May - Greetings from Jackie, Karen (the Tia Maria queen!!) and Tina.
We have just returned from a week in Eleni Studios where we had a wonderful time. The studios are basic but very clean (which is more important than gadgets in our book) and all have a fantastic view. Listen out for the strangled cockrell though (so funny as it crows at random times and not necessarily on a morning!). The food was so good at the Eleni Studios that we only ate away from there one evening, a few others staying there at the same time had tried other places and they didn't come up to Costas' standard.
Costas and Alex were the perfect hosts who were very keen to please all the guests. The only negative thing I can say about the apartments is the hill to get either down or up to them. They are in the middle of a very steep road. After the first day or so you get used to that and the views are worth it. Its quite a walk to the nearest beach but Trapezaki beach is worth the walk. Lourdata beach is not too good but has more tavernas etc there, but yet again there's the steep walk up hill to get back to the apartments.
Gordon and I are hoping to return, meeting up with the new friends we made at Eleni Studios next year. Best wishes to Costas & Alex for the future.
CAN ANYONE LET US KNOW WHAT TOUR OPERATOR THE ELENI STUDIOS IS UNDER FOR SUMMER 2005 AS WE WOULD LIKE TO RETURN THERE FOR OUR HONEYMOON. WE FIRST VISITED IN SUMMER 2003 AND LOVED IT THAT MUCH WE PROMISED OURSELVES WE'D GO BACK THERE FOR OUR HONEYMOON! IF ANY ONE CAN TELL US THAT WOULD BE GREAT.
KELLY AND JASON, LINCOLN
BEST HOLIDAY WE HAD FOR MANY YEARS. LOURDAS IS A GREAT RESORT WITH VERY FRIENDLY PEOPLE. WE VE BEEN VERY LUCKY TO CHOOSE ELENI STUDIOS FOR OUR HOLIDAY. EVERYTHING WAS VERY CLEAN AND THE ATMOSPHERE IN THE BAR VERY NICE TOO. WE NEVER GOT BORED EVERY NIGHT SOMETHING DIFERRENT
AND THE B.B.Q NIGHT WAS THE FAR THE BEST. ALLREADY THINKING OF GOING BACK THIS SEPTEMBER.
DAVID AND LORA
Justs got home after a great holiday at the Eleni studios & I had to share my feelings of happyness after the warmth & service that my wife & I recived from Costas and his new bride Alex.
The hill or K2 as we called it is very steep but why go any where when the Greek food that costas serves is so excellent.
Hire a car see the island just be back for dinner we hope to go back soon!!!
My husband and myself stayed at the Eleni last June, we had a wonderful time, everybody is very welcoming and friendly. The view is fantastic, Costos is a terific cook, the BBQ is something else! It is wonderful fun and again fantastic food. We enjoyed it all so much we are going again this year(we have always gone somewhere different each year.)
Just booked our holidays at Eleni studios for second time.
we allready dream the lovely beach of lourdas and our cold drinks
in the bar.wish a nice winter in all our friends in lourdas.
see you soon.
Tom & Linsey
Last July we stayed at the Summer Dreams apartments, and spent most of the holiday in Eleni Studios Bar, Restaurant and pool area.
This has been one the best holidays we have ever had in our lives the relaxed atmosphere kindness of Alex and Kostas coupled with the fine food and fun has been a holiday to always remember. In the words of Arnie - we will be back!!! this coming year.
Our two week holiday in Kefalonia ended in the first week of September 2003. We thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing break - Elini Studios was the perfect location for adults and children. The studio swimming pool was excellent for us and our 4year old daughter. We hired a car from CBR to explore the beautiful island. Kostas and Alex made us feel very comfortable and catered for our family needs. The barbeque and quiz nights were great fun and Kostas' jokes were all Greek to us!!! (ha ha British humour)The sea bass was divine.
Thank you for a wonderful holiday Kostas - enjoy the winter in Yorkshire.
Many thanks to Kostas and Alex for a fantastic holiday. It was our second time at the complex (room 10 what a view!) the place gets better every time, pitty the bank is still as steep, how about an esculator for next year! If you ever visit try Kostas bbq & quiz, with the help of Kostas mam Eleni & "mamma dracula" Marina and not forgetting Alex who all give a night you will never forget. We met some fantastic people, John and Sandra (Gary's mam and dad from Southampton!), the three golden girls, and the workey ticket scousers who couldn't sing to save their lives and not forgetting Fred and his wife for making the stand against Libra and staying all by themselves. Well done!!
Despite my comments (19th Sept)and the action taken by our tour company, I can say unreservably that Sue and I had a wonderful holiday at the Eleni. As has been said by all those who have passed comment before me, our hosts Kostas and Alex were first class, as was the accommodation, the location, the resort and of course Kefalonia.
However, I wish the Eleni could be transported down to the bottom of the hill, but then of course you would loose the terrific views over Lourdas Bay. We had a fantastic first week, when we enjoyed the company of some really great people and a special thanks to Steve and Jayne with whom we shared a lot of laughs, and sorry to those who were kept awake in the early hours by the ABBA revival!
Our second week was very different to the first and a good deal quieter, having said goodbye to every single one of our co-guests at the Eleni, by courtesy of our tour operators. However Kostas would not dream of letting us move out to another location as had been arranged, kindly letting us stay on at the Eleni. But I have to say it was a trifle lonely with only the cats for company!
I know it's a bore repeating what's been said before, but I can't sign off without saying that Kostas is not just a great guy and a lot of fun, but probably just about the best chef in Lourdas.
Good Luck Alex and Kostas thank you for making our stay so enjoyable and lets hope all goes well for you in 2004.
Fred and Sue Barnes, (Sept 27th to Oct 11th 2003).
P.S as a bonus our return flight left early and we even got home in time to see the highlights of the England v Turkey match.
Firstly, apologies to Tim Glister from one of the 'small minority' who kept him awake on the last TWO nights by singing Dancing Queen, but hey at least we made a lasting impression on him. It was the last week of the season for Kostas and I think the bar regulars wanted to close the week with a 'bang'. HI to all the lovely people we met during that week at the Eleni - John(Grandad), Gary's family, Michael,Fred,Sue,Helen,Gordan, not forgetting 'the girls'. We had the best holiday ever. The atmosphere at the pool bar was great - the quiz (we were robbed) was good fun and Kostas' food was always top class and good value. The rump steak was amazing. We have never had such good food in 20 years of visiting Greece. Alex and Kostas are wonderful hosts - Kostas has a wicked sense of humour and an infectious laugh - he had everyone in fits of laughter most evenings.
We stayed in KYRI Eleni which is a separate block about 3 minutes walk away, across the olive grove, from all the action - so is probably quieter when things get a little lively at the bar. The apartments are typical greek with usual equipment - basic but clean.
Supermarkets and tavernas are within 5 minutes walk, but the beach is a good 25 minute walk downhill (steep!!)There is a bus that runs several times a day for one euro - catch it if you can. We preferred Trapazaki beach to Lourdas. We loved Myrtos beach (1 hour away by car), but I think our favourite was Anti Samos, next to Sami, where the snorkelling was amazing. You do need car hire to get the best out of Kefalonia - the main town Argostoli is 15 mins away.
We would recommend Eleni to anyone - look out for it in the Kosmar 2004 brochure. Thanks Kostas and Alex - hope to see you next year!
Have just returned from two very relaxing weeks at Eleni - just the tonic. Studios are spotless (although three adults would be a little cramped) and the view from the balcony over the olive goves across to Zante is stunning.
It is a hell of a walk to the beaches. 2km the signs say. Trapezaki is the nicer with a less steep road and a more gently shelving sandy beach. Lourdas beach has about five tavernas along it - very developed for the island! The road down to Lourdas beach is much more steeper - jarring on the knees as you walk down. But there is little there. The main centre of the `resort` is 200m down from Eleni itself - although the road is a good 45 degree`s! And by resort centre we`re talking 5-6 good tavernas, 2 supermarkets and a few car hire places. And lots of olive trees.
But whatever you do see the island. Jaw-droppingly spectacular, very under-devloped and the locals very friendly.
Very relaxing two weeks only slightly marred by spending the last three nights kept awake into the small hours by a small minority of the residents enjoying a `karaoke` at the open pool bar. The massacring of `Dancing Queen` at 1am one night will live with me forever! But someone has to ensure the stereotypical Englishman abroad lives.
But that is the only tiny complaint of the two wonderful weeks we had - and it`s just a matter of personal preference.
Wow what a wonderful week, thank you Alex and Kostas for making our holiday so fantastic you are perfect hosts - your hospitality is second to non. And as for the food this is lovely - one of the best places to eat in Lourdas.
We strongly recommend these apartments, nothing is to much trouble for these guys, although we need to warn people of the mountain, it is extremely steep, and well done to those people who managed the walk back up from the beach. (35 mins down, ??mins up). The BBQ & quiz night is as everyone else has said a great evening. Thank you again to you both - Mich & Andy.
A very relaxing week Kostas Alex & Anita were very good hosts food superb. The walk up the hill gets steeper as the week goes on!Next year the Elini is in the Kosmar brochure.Do not miss the barbaque and quiz night Kostas sets some ammazing questions!
We had a wonderful time at the Elani everybody is friendly and helpful, Costas is a wonderful cook and the BQ night is great fun.
The apartments are lovely and clean. Lourdas beach is a bit of a walk and the area itself is not very good for walking if you have walking difficulties, but you can hire a car easily and driving around the island is good. Then in the evening it is wonderful to sit by the pool at the Eleni and enjoy a good meal.
We are going back next year and have booked already!
What a excellent place. The food was second to none. The BBQ and Quiz night what a laugh. Kostas and Alex were the best. Such a good place to relax and take it easy or you can hire a car and see this beautiful Island. The beach is a bit of a walk but there is a mini bus that runs through out the day if you cant make it up the hill home:- it is one euro each, but its not that bad. Remember Kostas give us a ring if you come to England and we can all meet up again for a drink etc.

We have just returned from staying with Kostas for the second time this year.
We love the place so much we are booking again today for next year. Kostas and Alex are perfect hosts and they are always willing to help you in anyway they can. The atmosphere is so relaxed that we felt as if we had stayed for two weeks instead of one - we were hoping we had missed the plane on Saturday so we could stay.
Thanks again Kostas and hope to hear from you soon.
We have just returned from our third visit to Eleni Studios, Lourdas. Kostas and Alex continue to be perfect hosts, fulfilling all our requests. Nothing is too much trouble. The studios, as usual, were immaculate and maintained so throughout our stay. Kostas food is second to none, and if we didn't fancy what was on the menu he endeavoured to provide what we requested. The Wednesday night barbecue goes from strength to strength, inproving from year to year. The quiz, isn't hard, but good fun and even if you don't know the answers it's a light hearted way to learn something about Kefalonia and it's history.
Even if you aren't staying at Eleni, it's well worth the climb up the hill to sample the first class food and hospitality provided at the poolside bar (which is transformed by night into a friendly, cosy bistro type eatery) at a cost which competes extremely well with all the other taverns(sun beds are free).
We have made sure we can enjoy a guaranteed relaxing return visit to Eleni next year. We made our booking two days after our return. Eleni is featured in the Kosmar brochure for 2004 (actually costing less than with Libra in 2003) but note that the picture in the brochure does not do the property or pool justice. We will add a couple of our photos when we get them back. It looks even better in the flesh!
We have travelled widely throughout Greece and her islands, but have now found our own Utopia in Kostas, his Eleni studios and in the dramatic and beautiful surroudings of Kefalonia.
We are sure that should you choose to visit here you would agree wholeheartedly with us and also, as we have, gain genuine friends in Kostas, Alex and their family.
Dear Fred,
I am very suprised with what you mention.
Here at Eleni we defently would like you to spend your second week with us. This is my email address minetos@hol.gr please contact me as soon as possimple.

Having seen and heard all the good comments about Eleni Studios on this excellent website, I tracked down the tour operator Libra and booked two weeks 27 Sept - 11 Oct. All was well until yesterday, when Libra phoned me to say(with only eight days to go),they had cancelled my second week, because, and I quote,"it was not cost effective for them to run holidays at Eleni for the week 4th-11th Oct. They have offered alternative accommodation for our second week which is clearly inferior to Eleni and they are not prepared to help any further except for £30 compensation pp.
My wife and I are very dissapointed and unhappy with the attitude of Libra, who in my opinion clearly have no ethical or professional code of conduct, and put financial gain before any thought for their customers. Because they have left it to the 11th hour to inform us of this cancellation, it is impossible to re-book with another company and therefore we have had to accept their offer.
I would be interested to hear if others have been "dumped" by them and what was the outcome.
I would also be interested to know if the Eleni Management were aware of the shabby treatment their potential guests were receiving.
Despite all this we are still looking forward to our holiday at Eleni, it is just a shame Libra could not honour their contract and provide us with the holiday we booked!
We have just returned from our holiday at The Elani Studios and we can't say enough about what a wonderful place it is. Exactly what you want if you need to relax and take things easy.Kostos and Alex are wonderful, the studios are very clean and well maintained and the food is so tempting that it often makes it difficult to go anywhere else. The B.B.Q. and quiz night on a Wednesday were really well organised and a lot of fun. Our children, Becky, Sara and Sohpie loved every moment and when we did venture out continually asked when we would be going back to the studios. Thanks so much...'The Howies.'
