To Arthur Hopkinson, or anyone that has visited Lourdas (especially Vrissida) recently. Have read some not so good reviews about the apartments are they ok? Have u any good advice for our trip, particularly about where to hire cars, which is at the end of July.
Thanks, hope your holiday was good!!!

I am making a trip to Kefalonia in July (staying in Vrisida)and would appreciate comments from Arthur Hopkinson about his holiday in June. Am a bit concerned about some comments about the apartments etc., hope your holiday was good!

We are booked in at these studios for June 2004 for the first time.

Can anyone tell me if there are studios on the back side of the building? Or does all the accomodation face to the front (as shown in brochure photos?). Also, are there studios on the ground floor as well? are they better or worse than those above?... Any advise welcome.

Happy holidays,
regards, arthur hopkinson.

After reading the other comments i cant believe this is the same place. When we arrived our room was filthy!! the bathroom hadnt been cleaned ( there was still soap skum and shaving stubble welded onto the basin) the toilet was black and there were cob webs hanging from the ceiling! we complained and the owner spent 15 mins cleaning the bathroom (whilst smoking a fag!!) but after he had recleaned it the toilet was still black, someone elses hair was blocking up the plug hole in the shower and you could tell from the welded on scum around the taps that this room had not been thoughrally cleaned for a very very long time. Luckily our manos rep was fantastic and imediatly agreed to move us to other accomodation. we stayed in one of only 2 room at ground level and it smelt of dog, presumably the owners which wanders aound unchecked i dred to think of it on the beds! The only view from the window was of the lara hotel accross the road ( not a pretty sight)and although this accomodation was quite near the beach all the good restarants are a mile hike up the side of the mountain which Lourdas is built on. if you have already booked to go here i hope you have a better stay than us, and take my advise head to the Ionian sun hotel just off the beach, they have a lovely pool bar open to the public, and it was the saving grace of a nighjtmare 2 days in lourdas!

WE STAYED OVER THE ROAD FROM THE LARA HOTEL, IT WAS CLEAN AND FRIENDLEY. THE LARA HOTEL WAS IDEAL FOR FAMILIES AND COUPLES, THE OWNER ISNT UNFRIENDLY AT ALL BUT CAN SEEM QUIET. IT HELPS IF YOU CAN LEARN SOME BASIC GREEK, I THINK THEY APPRECIATE THAT.
WE WOULD MOST DEFINATLYT GO BACK!! BUT THE HILL BACK UP FROM THE BEACH WAS HUGE (NO LIE THERE BELIEVE ME).
LA MAER WAS A NICE PLACE TO EAT, AND ONE OR TWO PLACES ALONG THE BEACH FRONT....

We arrived in the resort on an allocation on arrival basis and when we found out where we were staying couldnt believe it. These are definatly the best apartments ive stayed in greece, exceptionally clean, spacious, and the balconys get the sun in the morning. Great for breakfast! The Lara hotel pool opposite it very handy with a pool bar serving snacks. Great location, 5 mins to the beach, but on a steep hill. Helps work off all that greek food!!!

It was a great experience.I will recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fine, simple and natural environment.

A clean, simple and traditional place to stay and relax.

The apartments were basic but clean and well presented. The swimming pool at the Lara Hotel is just across the road and you can use it free of charge. The sun bathing area at the hotel is very handy, especially with the pool to cool you down. The beach is about 5 minutes down a steep hill (about 10 minutes back!) but can get very windy. No night life at all apart from local bars, restaurants and tavernas. Very friendly people who speak reasonable English. The traffic can get a bit noisy (especially motor bikes/scooters) but you get used to it. Overall a good holiday 8/10.
