We have booked an inland view room with Olympic Holidays (arriving this Sunday 14/06/15) as this was all they had available. Is it possible to request/ upgrade to a sea view room?
We have just returned from stunning Kefalonia and already want to be back there..well didnt want to leave really!!! We had a fantastic time at the Maria Anna,Jenny and Gregori cant do enough for you. We had one of 3 ground floor rooms but it had a sea view and was level with the garden. I think there are only 4 rooms that do not have sea views. Lovely clean pool with sun beds, brollies and sea views and also a pool bar.We hired a car and visited most of the island although didnt get to see Ithaca...good excuse to go again.Drive to Lixouri and Xi beach then take ferry (with car/2people for 8.10 euros back to Argostoli)runs every 30 mins approx.
i just wanted to add that to get the most out of your hoiliday and see all the island has to ofer you must hire a car it works out cheaper and you have a fun packed day
hi all my new mates !! well all the people i annoyed while staying at maria anna hotel lovely hotel and nice people who run it nothing was too much trouble for them the earth shaked for me too ha ha will definetly go back you know who you are we had a good week and a good laugh love nuty lynn xxxx.
We have just enjoyed a last minute girlie week here and after the initial shock that Lourdas was quiet and peaceful - we had a fantastic time, after all, a holiday is what you make it.
Can i just start by saying never better. Ive been going to kefalonia specifically Lourdas for 11 years every year and im still only 18.
Mmmmm ????!!!!! Now then, where do I start??? Just returned from the Maria Anna Hotel in Lourdas.
This place is awesome!
what was a worrying for?? ive just got back and that was the best holiday ive had in years!! deffinatly go to the hotel if you are planning to go to lourdas. the staff at the hotel are amazing and so helpful. the rooms were basic but clean and bed sheets were changed everyday. the pool area is clean and the water was always clear. the bar meals are simple but filling and cheap. the drinks are also cheaper than bars around the resort. try "the greek island taverna" or "la mer" or "afrodites grill" for evening meals. this is a quiet place and the bar is only loud on a monday and thursday night- monday being cocktail and pool party night and thursday is the quiz- you dont have to take part in these and the music cannot easily be heard from all room, maybe one or two at the most. try and book a room with a sea view. it is amazing.
Hi. i am going to the Maria Anna Hotel in three days with my family. i have just read the comments made by the two girls which claim to have been sexually assulted. can someone please put my mind at rest asap and assure me that their stay at this hotel had no trouble of this kind or any kind at all. please please put my mind at rest! thank you
Hi there everyone,
Do thay have safe deposit box's at the maria ann hotel as we are visting soon
We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Maria Anna and had a great time. Last year we had stayed at the property next door and were very surprised to see Anna who last year worked behind the bar next door, was now working at the Maria Anna. Both Anna and Ross are so helpful, nothing is too much trouble for them. Gregory the owner is also very friendly and cooks a mean barbeque! The rooms are quite small but very clean. They have fridges but we did not have any tea making facilities. This is not really a problem as the bar sells tea and coffee as well as the usual and great food. The only down side to this hotel are the vines which cover the outside of the building, especially the balconies. They are not difficult to remove as my hubby pulled some down with his hands. I did mention it to the Olympic rep so i hope she will pass that on. Anyone going to this hotel will have a great stay, but you do need a car if you are going to make the most of the island. One thing the rep didnot mention was the risk of jellyfish. My hubby got stung in the sea on a beach near the airport. They are not harmful but he said it was quite painful for a few hours.
I would be interested to know if the Maria Elena Hotel in Lourdas has air-con facilities availaible in the rooms as I will be there from June26 this year for 2 Weeks!
Michele,we had tea/coffee facilities in our rooms, and only half of the rooms face the sea,my kids were in the room above us.Ask for a sea facing room on the top floor and you won't go far wrong.Enjoy,it's a cracking place(i'm green with envy),Wyn Jones.
My family and i stayed at this hotel in July of 2004,for 2 weeks and had a wonderfultime,my daughter of 17 made good friends, with Ross the young guy that works there,my 2 boys 14 and 11,had a great time,Lana is a lovely person "the greatest russian i know",which was what i referred to her as.Gregory is a smashing bloke,Jenny his wife, lovely too,and Panayoutis their son(nicknamed Frankie,by my boys),played together with us in the pool all the time, the hotel was fairly basic but very clean, the rooms were cleaned every day, beds made, the pool was clean, the guests were english in the main, and easy to befriend as it wasn't over crowded. The breakfast was o.k. a little basic and repetetive, but filling and did the job,the overall atmosphere was very laid back, and nothing was too much trouble,we were there the night Greece won Euro 2004,Gregory broke out the beers, what a night, great memories,a beautiful island, hire a car there's plenty of it to see,i would not hesitate to go back,my kids said it was totally unlike Florida the previous year, but they enjoyed Kefalonia more.(the reason i've posted so late,is we've only just discovered this site)
We stayed at the property next door to the Maria Anna last year, but this year we are going to the Maria Anna. Can anyone tell me if there are tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms?, and also do all rooms have a sea view? We really loved Lourdas and cant wait to go back. Any idea what the temperature will be like the first 2 weeks of july?
You get what you pay for! This is not a luxury hotel and doesn’t promote itself as such. It should be judged on that basis.
The Maria Anna and the staff provided every thing we expected and more. Lana was a helpful and enthusiastic Manager.
Can’t comment on what has gone on before but there was absolutely no problems at the hotel when we visited Sept 2004.
The poolside bar was great, food pretty good, plenty of drink choices.
The view from the room was superb. The room was reasonably clean - well the maid scared us a bit!
The bar got a little noisy some nights but overall was relatively quiet considering people were on holiday and out to enjoy themselves (which we certainly did).
There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, and also four supermarkets that were very handy. We liked the Le Mar best for the quality of the food although the service was better in some of the other Tavernas
A couple of tips:- Mind your step! Several people went a*se over t*t, tripping on badly maintained roads or on the walks down tracks to the beaches. Also BIG tip - the water closets in the rooms 'trickle' which you can hear during the quiet of night, which can be annoying - the trick is to turn off the water to the cistern buy turning the tap on the feeder pipe. (Just don’t forget to turn it back on again in the morning!)
We would recommend this as a cheap holiday destination.

We have just returned from a fantastic week at the Maria Anna Hotel. We would like to thank both Lana and Ross for making our stay such a pleasure. The pool was a good size and not too crowded. the rooms are small and would certainly benefit from a ceiling fan, as they do get very hot at night. We enjoyed all the food we had and a different meal of the day is described on a blackboard in reception each day at very reasonable prices. The rooms were cleaned on a daily basis. The atmosphere is very friendly, and as all the guests are English, making friends was very easy. The relaxed setting of the pool bar was enjoyed by several guests from neighbouring apartments, but at no time was it overcrowded or rowdy. Please disregard comments from last year, as all the staff and owners are new. If we were to return to Loudas, we would not hesitate to choose the Maria Anna...Recommended.
We stayed here on a late deal, and do not wish to stay here again, the place was old and in need of refurbishment. we give this place 4/10 we did visit next door the Antoneer and the Fiona which both had swimming pools. We liked Lourdas and will come back, we did our drinking in the Muzes Bar and Astra, and we tried most of the resturants.
What a fab little hotel, clean rooms, nice seaview balconies, fridge in the room and permanent hot water for your showers! The pool and pool bar is a great little place to be day or night, serving good food at any time and the breakfast here is good. Lana is a fantastic hostess and basically runs the hotel. The hotel is in a good location close to three supermarkets, two bars and about eight restaurants at the top of Lourdas. The trek to the beaches downhill is ok but coming back is a bit of a struggle even for the fittest in the blazing sunshine! On the road down from the hotel is the goat-track which takes you the prettiest and most scenic route to the beach as it does provide a little shade and a natural spring at the top to drink once you've arrived there! I would definetly go back to Maria Anna. Everywhere/everyone gets bad press at one time or another so it's not unusual to hear bad things after all everyones opinions are different. Also, The management at the hotel has changed since last year. Excel airways are fine so are Olympic, however we had little contact with the rep as we didn't want to do any tours etc. Only one word of warning, for your flight home, when you arrive at the airport, we had to queue to check in, outside the airport, in the blazing sunshine for 50 minutes as the airport is tiny!!
I thought it necessary to add my comment to this site after almost cancelling my holiday to the maria anna hotel because of the comments i read after booking it. Can i firstly say, i am so glad i DID NOT cancel. Obviously after reading this site i was, shall we say anxious, but decided to give it a go and find out for ourselves. i was more than pleasantly surprised. The accomodation was perfect, beautiful views, a clean, well sized pool, a bar with snacks, the maids came in every day, a choice of breakfasts, friendly and helpful staff; everything we could have wished for!!! I never even heard of anyone called Yannis!
The beach is absolutely gorgeous, a bit of hike but definately worth it. I would recommend hiring a car from CBR (only book when you get there as it is on the main road and booking through Olympic was a bit of a hassle). The Island is only small and you could easily travel the whole place and see so many different beautiful places.
The best restaurant we found was the Oinopolis, right next to the Maria Anna Hotel. There are lots to chose from on the main road but we found this one to have the best food, prices and service (all the restaurants get very busy after about 8pm so if you don't want to wait for your meal eat earlier).
Please do not go off the bad things that have been written on this site, this a great family run business with many qualities, see it for yourself!
