Had a fantastic holiday at the Eleni. It was our 5th visit to the island so we were quite prepared for the steep climbs. Kostas and Alex are superb hosts (nothing was too much trouble). As a rule we like to try as many local restaurants but the food prepared by Kostas was just so good we tended to 'eat in' at the Eleni bar and then wander down the the bars in the village. A 2 course meal was approximately £6.50 and during our 2 week stay there was never a repetition of menu. Starters included sea bass, smoked salmon, meatballs and mousaka and main meals such as traditional stews, steak, chicken etc and oh those desserts were to die for! Kostas was so accommodating and could basically rustle up anything requested.
And the finishing touch to our holiday. We arrived back in the UK to receive an email from Kostas and Alex wishing us a safe return.
Suffice to say, we will definately be going back in the very near future - Hazel, Martin and Bethany Evans (Bury, Lancashire)
Stayed at Lourdas. Our rep Emma was very informative and professional and was more than happy to assist, if requested. She had a very good rapport with the holidaymakers. Even when 'off duty' she was accessible. We have travelled with Kosmar on a number of occasions and have found them to be a very good operator.
Our return transfer journey slightly took the edge off the holiday as it took us so long to get to the airport due to resort congestion (and irrate coach and taxi drivers) but this was really out of the control of Kosmar and just one of those things you have to accept on a Greek island.
I would however like to make a comment of the Kosmar website as it is very difficult to negotiate.
2004 has been particularly difficult for tourism in Greece. There wasn't the same hustle and bustle as in previous years and resorts were realatively quiet. On returning home, I spoke to a number of work colleagues who were contemplating last minute holidays and I therefore recommended Kosmar and directed them to the website. I was surprised to hear that it was indicating no availabilty for a number of dates.
Also we tried to book online for next year to the Eleni Studios in Lourdas but the accomodation didn't even exist on the website.
It is disappointing that not all available accommodation seems to be available online and it tends to require a phone call or trip to the local travel agent to check.
Kosmar I do think that you are losing valuable business because of an effective site!
We had a very disappointing meal. Starters were very nice (meatballs and fried cheese). We had Lamb for the main meal and it was absolutely disgusting - just a big piece of fat. Unfortunately for us I just think it was the wrong choice of meal.
The service was extremely poor. My 5 year old was looking forward to the Greek dancing as we had passed the restaurant so many times and observed the waiters encouraging the diners to participate. But by 10:45pm we left as this hadn't materialised.
We have booked the Eleni Studios for 2005 (29 May - 5 June). Our friends also want to book but unfortunately the return flight is fully booked. The Olympic website does not show the Eleni for 2005.
Can anyone recommend any other travel operator and apartments in Lourdas that are near to the Eleni?
