Casa De Blu Studios

Accommodation in Lourdas

Howard S          8/10

We went to Lourdas last september and had an amazing time.  although we did not stay at casa de blue, we did eat here three times, and each time it was really good.  we even got given extra food (stuffed vegetables etc.) which were really nice and not asked for and were not charged - a really nice touch.

The owner was a friendly guy, and he even lets you borrow his canoe on the beach in lourdas where he runs some of the beach umbrellas - which he does not have to do.  i thought it was a great place and had no trouble at all with him - he seemed a perfect gentleman.

Do you know of any Travel companys who are going back to Casa De Blu apartments in Lourdas next August 2007, as I have tried everywhere????

I have just came back from staying at this hotel and I can't believe these reviews!!! I went with my mother and we had a fantastic time. We are actually trying to book to go back next August but at the minute we are unable to book as no travel company are going back to Casa De Blu in Lourdas. I would strongly recommend to anyone to not take these comments on board and just see for yourself. Ok the rooms were not cleaned regulary but the towels etc were on hand if you needed them and sheets all you had to do was ask. The pool was cleaned every morning as I chatted with the lady who cleaned it.  The only fault I had with these apartments was that you had to be out of your room by 10 am which is awful when your flight isn't until late that night.Myself and my mother were very lucky we got the first apartment just at the pool. The pool bar was busy but not packed and the people on holiday at the same time as myself were lovely and friendly. The owner was never about until night as her worked on the beach during the day it was his wife I seen mostly, and his children. I would reccommend this place to all my friends and family as I had a fantastic time infact this was the best holiday ever!!!!!!!!!

Myself and my husband have just returned from spending two amazing weeks in Lourdas.  I have read the comments about Casa de Blue (?) and can only share our own experiences...... we loved it!

We had gone on an allocation on arrival holiday and were delighted to arrive at C de B having watched our fellow passengers get off the bus in the 'middle of know where'.  We were over the moon to reach civilisation!!

We were delayed and arrived quite late (merci beaucoup to the French Aerospace!) but still were welcomed and greeted immediately by Marinos (or Super Mario as you'll soon see ;-)  we have never seen a guy work sooooo hard!).  He carried our bags to the room and left us to get settled with an invite to come down to the restaurant for a drink 'on the house'.  First impressions last…

The apartment was clean, spacious and well equipped, air con, TV, fridge, hob etc.  You can imagine our delight when we woke up the next morning to breath taking views that can only be believed when you are there!...... Missing that so much!!

The pool was very clean (a lady came every morning to check the water, clean it etc.. !) with plenty of sun beds and a lovely little pool bar where Marinos' daughter, Eri, and son served drinks.... quite a few nights and (early mornings) were spent here... try the Kiss cocktail….

The apartment was cleaned frequently however Marinos' wife, Marie (who worked in the restaurant everyday), assured us that if we ever needed anything (towels, sheets etc.) then all we had to do was ask.

We ate in the restaurant on a number of occasions (served by Jerry - a Danny de Vito look-a-like and a firm favourite with all of us!!) and cannot fault the food.  One evening my husband ordered a mixed platter for one person… Marinos must have thought he looked very hungry as he served enough food to feed Captain Corelli’s army…. I don’t know who was more surprised when my husband cleaned the plate!!  The Greek hospitality was second to none.   Marinos was kind and generous beyond the call of duty.  He went out of his way to help us when we were looking for a car to hire (we went to Neptune and got a little jeep – super!) and offered us lifts to the beach when we car-less!  On our last few days at the beach he insisted that we use his sun beds (even though we had bought a parasol etc) free of charge.

One incident which occurred and in light of the other comments I have read regarding Marinos’ temperament may prove interesting.  Whilst on our way to Argostoli  we spotted Marinos at the side of the road and pulled over – it was a busy junction.  He came over to speak to us and told us someone had ran into him – it wasn’t until we saw the damage to the car that we realised it was quite a bad accident.  Anyone else would have been angry and near hysterical (a guy did a U-turn on a busy main road!!), however Marinos spoke to us as normal, directed traffic and got on with it….

All in all we had a fabulous two weeks – met people and made friends we will never forget…(we couldn't anyway as we have photos as evidence!!) and hated leaving…..

As we had no idea where we were going we couldn’t check out reviews which was just as well – all I would say is go there with an open mind and see what happens……. Oh and….. YAMMAS!!

Stayed for 2 weeks in May 2006
Beautiful island
Food in Casa de Blue restaurant was very nice
Owner (and his family) there throughout most of our stay
Apartments adequate although change of linen/towels only into 2nd week

Weather was brilliant, very hot and grateful for pool which was thoroughly cleaned at least three times during our stay

Local beaches are beautiful though inaccessible for those with walking/health probs  - no buses early in season, only 1 taxi in area

Hiring of a car is essential as you need to see what the rest of the island has to offer - breathtaking views especially in the north, best beach is at Antisamos, shingle beach but beautiful setting.

DO NOT STAY AT CASA DE BLUE.

The apartments were extemely dirty and cleaned only once during our stay of two weeks. The rubbish was taken out very infrequently too (every third or fourth day).

The swimming pool was dirty and not cleaned while we were there.

We got around 3 hours sleep per night due to the noise of dogs barking (the owner did nothing to stop them when we complained).

The following incident highlighted Casa de Blue's owner as being on the verge of lunacy. The man is a psychopath... At about midnight, I heard the screams of a woman coming from the street below the apartment. I immediately went to her aid (as did several other men from various locations) and found that it was our chambermaid. She was absolutely hysterical and was being restrained against her will by the owner of "Casa de Blue". Upon seeing me, the owner released her and she ran screaming towards me, saying that he had threatened her with a chair and that he would not pay her final wages (she was leaving the next day). Apparently he had asked her to sign something in Greek, which she did not understand (I believe she is Estonian). I asked them both to calm down and said that we should all go into the downstairs café at Casa de Blue to work things out and perhaps call the police. We all walked to the café (the owner Marinos, myself, the chambermaid and another couple from the downstairs apartment and several other English people). The owner was absolutely frantic and barely containing his anger. Eventually we got to the café and everyone sat down. After several tearful and fearful minutes, she calmed down. Marinos did not, however. Eventually we managed to persuade him in an extremely calm manner to pay her what was owed and she signed a statement to the effect "I **** have been given the sum of 450 Euros by Marinos". My girlfriend and another girl then walked her to a house where she knew she would be safe (away from Marinos) and then returned. She said to my girlfriend on the way that we should not call the police as Marinos would become even more psychotic and probably do us all harm. We believed her. At this point, when everything seemed to be settled, I went to shake Marinos' hand to signal that I thought he had done the right thing, then Marinos grabbed hold of my hand and squeezed it extremely hard. He then pulled me forward, pushed me backwards several times, swung me into a table, pushed me against the wall, pulled my arm around my head and got me in a head-lock. He then released me, grinning all the while. His two waiters looked pleased to see me in pain. The other couple heard the commotion and came running again, and witnessed this occurring, as did my girlfriend. We left immediately and went to our room. As soon as we saw out rep the next day, we informed him of the incident and filled out an incident form. I have to say that the First Choice rep Jeff was absolutely brilliant and tried to help all he could. However he could not get us moved to another hotel, and that is what we really wanted. Also, my shoulders and the left-hand side of my neck were extremely painful. After being told that we could not be moved, we were extremely worried. The owner was extremely menacing, as were his two waiters. We basically stayed in the room for the rest of the holiday (when we were at Casa de Blue) and kept all the windows and doors shut at night with a wedge under the front door. We were basically very scared to be in the place and around Marinos. This really affected our holiday in a terrible way.

Comments about needing a car are fair, though there is local shuttle bus available to the beaches. The apartments are basic and we were on the first floor above the pool so could leave the windows open. Like everywhere in Greece, the building gets dusty but it seemed to be swept most days.

We have just returned from one week at Case De Blu. We had a car for the whole time, which made life a lot easier. The Studios are quite a walk from the beach and would not recommend the walk. We gave lots of lifts to folk attempting the walk back up the hill.
The apartment was basic. Our apartment was located by the pool and so we were unable to have the doors open during the day, and there wasn't much privarcy. We had to buy a fan (shame they don't rent them). Apartments are in a good location and the pool is nice. I would stay there again but would request a balcony.

Just arrived home from a fortnight at the Casa de Blue Studios (lourdas) we found the accomadation in an excellent location for bars and resturaunts. The studious are however around 2kms from the nearest beaches (you have three to chose from. We walked on a couple of occasions to Lourdas beach and at a slow pace we achieved this 25 mins on way down and 40 minutes on way back. As to the studios. the is no air conditioning and can get warm throughout the day. We had a fan from the local supermarket. (this helped). There is a pool bar and a resturaunt withing the studio complex. The pool is small but nice with room for around 12 sunbeds. Marinos the owner is great. During our time there they had slight problem with the cleaning services and went five days without but this definatly got better the second week. We had a fantastic two weeks, enjoying the GMT (Greek maybe time)and the Casa de blues location added to our enjoyment we give it a 6 out of ten
