We went here in the summmer and loved it!/rte/clap.gif We went to Skala for 14 nights and ate at Scandinavia around 7 times! The variety was great/rte/tongue.gif and the staff were lovely (especially the young lady!) On our last day we decided to eat at Scandinavia for our last meal, when we were paying the staff brought out a bottle of wine and told us we had been great customers and they wanted to give us this for free! Great! /rte/wink.gif
Having been to this taverna several times now I find it hard to believe that some people can make such comments which paint it in a bad light. The food has always been good and the service excellent, at its busiest things take a little longer but this has never been a problem. George and Jimmy are excellent hosts and always make you feel welcome. It does seem that some of the comments made by others come from people that have nothing better to do than moan.
I first ate here around five years ago, and didn't really get why this restaurant was so popular. Returned this summer and have to say that I still don't get it. We went on our first night as my partner who had never been to Kef before chose the restaurant. I had stuffed tomatoes and he had Kefalonian meat pie, (which I had been telling him about before our holiday). The pie put him off having it again, and to be honest the stuffed tomatoes weren't a patch on the ones at the Pines or Sirocco.
We went a second night as my partner fancied the special of kleftiko. I ordered cod fillet. My partner said that the Kleftiko was full of grizzle, and my cod fillet arrived covered in tomatoes and onion, almost as if to hide the size of the fillet, but absolutely full of bones.
The best part of both meals was my giant beans I had as a starter.
We probably wont return here. There are loads of better restaurants in Skala.
(Now called the Mikalatos Family) Lovely food, no problem there. Good air con and particularly good Kefalonian meat pie! Most restaurants are the same in Skala: same food at the same price, however we found the variety was slightly better other restaurants. Having said that it is very reliable and tasty!
We been have visiting Skala since 1992 and the first Taverna we ate at was the lovely Scandinavia, we were very impressed with not only the food but the warmth and friendship shown to us by the Mikalatas family. Everytime we return to Skala we make a point of dining at the Scandinavia at least a couple of times,If you want a good meal, nice wine, great service and watch the world go by the Sandinavia is well worth a visit.
We ate here twice on our weeks holiday in Skala i had village sausage both times and it was fantastic my husband had saganaki and olives and that was rreally nice as well not salty all like at La Luna, both times my husband had the fillet steak they were really big and he said that they were the best steaks he's ever had i had the cod with tomato sauce and a jacket potato the second time chicken in a mushroom and wine sauce with homemade chips it was really nice and the best meal we had, we had a carafe of house red i asked if we could buy it in the shops and the waiter said no it was made for the restaurant next thing he comes out with a big bottle for us and only charged us 5 euros.
On my last review about the scandinavia i said i was going back to kefalonia Skala, when i came back a couple of weeks ago we always eat at the scandinavian which is now called `The Mikaletos family` the have really nice rooms with great service. The food was really nice especially the toasted bread which we had on sundays. We didnt get to see George this year because he went to the Main island of greece.
thank you to all of the staff at the scandinavian.I have been to Skala three times now, staying at the beautiful Cristina Villa which is owned by George and his family who have the Scandinavia Restaurant. Every time we come there, we can't go past the meals at the Scandinavia - I love the lamb shanks in particular, but we would have breakfast, lunch and dinner there if we could!! The service and friendly family atmosphere is second to non. We'll be back for a fourth time next year and can't wait!
I can't wait to go back to Greece on the 26th of August . Thank you to all the staff and to George who was really kind
We sometimes have lunch here - they do marvellous fried aubergines and tzatziki. Always a very friendly and attentive service. The Stamna (not to be confused with Stamnaki) was brilliant as well this year when we went one evening - first had that on Skiathos last year, so was pleased to see it on Kefalonia. Highly recommended though the taverna does look spectacular.
Just returned from our second trip, restaurant still fantastic, This restaurant has only changed its name to Michelatos this year to celebrate 30 years of family business. but its still the same team excellent service and food.
greece was the bestest place i have ever been we really liked the service it was great so thats why i`ll give it a ten out of ten
Guess who
the first time i went to greece with my family it was great especially when i had the special spagetti it was gorgeous
Delicious food - we went there for 6 of our 7 nights. And I still had trouble choosing what to have as it was all so tasty. And very friendly service.
Yet another one that we liked, both food and service. Will definitely go back next visit to the island
I find this hard to believe. Scandinavia is one of the best restaurant in Skala, You are made very welcome and the food is top notch. We have had 6 years in Skala and we love the place and the Scandinavia.
This was the worst Taverna we ate in whilst in Skala. I had a dry and over-done steak and my husband had something which resembled a Birdseye frozen meal, but was supposed to be cod. The Tavernas in Skala are brilliant, but this one let us down, and was the most expensive also. PS: What's that garlic margerine they were serving with the bread? (yuk)!
Ate here once - had the kefalonia meat pie and my boyfriend had moussaka - it was distinctly average, especially compared to other eateries, couldn't see why it keeps getting brill reviews. Least favourite taverna of the whole holiday.
Me and my partner Glenn ate at scandanavia 12 nights from our 14 in skala. the food was fantastic, especially the steak collection and the prawn saganaki! We had the lamb shank in fresh mint sauce 4 times we enjoyed it so much. All the staff made us feel very welcome and were all very polite. I must set the record straight though because we visited this site before we went to kefalonia and we read that the diet cokes are 5 euro each in this restaurant, i can assure you that they are only 2.50. Hi to george, george, jimmy, claire and andrea, We will see you all next july, take care sally and glenn
Went here after reading previous reviews. Setting not that great ie over-looking road (not at all busy though) Nice to have fans bearing in mind how hot it was. Service great and food very good quality. Steak fairly expensive ie 18 euros but one of the best (cooked medium) also had pizza with feta - lovely. Would def recommend this restaurant.
