Just back from Kefalonia and it wouldn't be the same without a visit to the Bell Tower - and I have been to the top - amazing views! You cant go to Argostoli and not sit and eat cake!
We always look forward to visiting the Bell Tower on the shopping street in Agostoli. Try the home made lemonade and walnut cake and watch the world go by very slowly! An interesting place well worth a visit.
Great place for a relaxing drink morning, noon or night.
Watch people going by and support the project which gives gainful
employment to people with disabilities.
Buy various items of local produce inside.
We didn't try the food so can't comment on that.
The view from the tower is spectacular !!
Do try the "Submarine" it tastes better then the previous description.
Without doubt the best place for a drink in Argostoli! Reasonable prices, the chance to try local sweet type things (how about a 'submarine', described as 'a spoonful of vanilla flavoured mastic in a glass of ice cold water'??!!), and a great location in a leafy square on the main shopping street. Also you can feel good because you're supporting an EU funded rehabilitation project for people recovering from mental health problems, who provide the cheerful and friendly service.
we found this little gem in the main shopping area and it is certainly the cheapest cafe we found in argostoli. it is run by a charitable trust helping young people with disabilites.there was a good selection of pastries cakes and rolls, the drinks were cheaper than anywhere.also you can climb up the bell tower for free and take in the best views of argostoli and look at photos of old argostoli
