We recently returned from Skala, Appollo Apartments. We were a group of five, myself, husband, daughter, son-in-law and one year old daughter.
Our daughter, Joanna had stayed there a number of times and is friends with Christos and Natasha.
Our rep was Andrea, one of the best I have ever met. Friendly, understanding, warm-hearted, hard-working and always helpful.
We were dreading the departure at Argostoli airport. Andrea and her team were there shepherding the passengers with total ease and efficiency, making our fears vanish. She is a real gem and I hope my comments are forwarded to her.
The rep was fine, typical in that her Greek was terrible (yes mine is better ) and her knowledge of the island was ok.
have holidayed with Thomas Cook before and loved every minute of both, every thing was taken care of though we orginnally booked our holiday with manos. I could fault only one thing, our rep! She was no help at all and was like a greek hitler. She took no consideration for my sister in laws who had 5 young children between them ageing between 9 months and 5! other than that holiday was great although i don't think the parents appreciated being 140 steps up from the beach and tavernas!
great first time with them flights on time and my meals were correct but am not sure about them teaming up with mytravel we will have to see...
Couldn't fault Thomas Cook, competitive price, good flight times. The rep visted every day at set times, he was freindly & helpful and accompanied us on arranged excursions which was reasonably priced. Was so impressed with them after a bad experience was another operator previously that we have booked another holiday with them.
We could not fault Thomas Cook from start to finish. Just come back from two weeks in Skala, Kefalonia (Sept. 2004) Reps were helpful and friendly and at our hotel twice every day if needed plus we were given phone numbers to contact any time. All the excursions were well organised and value for money and at the airports everything went like clockwork with the reps there is guide you all the way - will certainly not hesitate to book with them again
Have not used Thomas Cook before and only went with them because our other choices were not available.However if this was the norm then I would not hesitate to use them again.We stayed in Skala at the Pelagos Apartments which were more than up to standard.Our rep was Karen who was probably as good a rep as we have ever had.On one night we had a terrible storm and the building was struck by lightining thus causing a power failure.Karen came out twice during the storm to check on everyone and to keep us informed of the situation.Every aspect of the holiday was handled well.Maybe we just lucky.
Stayed at San Lorenzo Apartments in Lassi which were immaculate; staff were excellent and very professional. Great resort with beautiful beaches. Pool amazing. Outstanding standard of cleanliness.
However, a sour taste to the holiday came with the unhelpfulness of our Rep, Sarah, who in answer to our polite request for a sea view, which we had been promised upon booking and didn't receive upon arrival, replied 'I hate Travel Agents, I do'. Ironic. She took our room number and said she'd get back to us to see what she could do about a possible change for the second week. Although we didn't expect anything and didn't want to make a fuss, it would have been professional for her to respond to our request in some way.
We didn't hear from her for the rest of the holiday which we had come to expect.
However, what was unacceptable was that due to the fact Sarah failed to turn up for her appointment time at the resort or display relevant information at the accommodation, I had to contact the main office regarding our departure time and was given various platitudes. Our departure information was finally placed on the board on the actual day of departure, only a couple of hours before we were due to be picked up. Luckily we found out from other guests as to the expected check out times.
The Airtours and Thompson Reps, in comparison, were always at the poolside in time for their appointments, making themselves available rather than grudgingly turning up as part of the 'duty calls'. Their information boards were also filled with information which was displayed early so their 'punters' weren't reliant upon them.
Wonderful resort and accommodation. Will travel independently next time.
We will never travel with Thomas Cook again. We booked our holiday last July for this summer. Our accomodation was changed 3 times during the course of the year. It was only after my persistence that I actually nailed them down to offering us other accomodation. They pulled out of our second accomodation 2 weeks before the start of the season leaving the owners with empty rooms and no compensation.We stayed at Liberatos eventually which was great , only to find that Kosmar guests were getting the same holiday for £350 less!
We stayed at the new hotel in Skala ( opened May 03 )called Zephros,excellent hotel, first impression of location was a bit of a shock, 1k to beach down hill, taxi or car hire back, but on the whole well worth it, owners brilliant, would certainly return.
Found them to be excellent. There were only two couples stayng at Lorenzo in Lassi on our flight and we were whisked in a Taxi and at hotel within 30 mins of landing. Lorenzo was even better than we expected. Bus tour to Fiskado by night was beyond belief. Claire and the rep Karen were very helpful
Great holiday. Julie our rep in Scala was very friendly and helpful. Accomodation was very good, basic but very clean. Would recommend to anybody wanting to visit Kefalonia.
