Sirtaki is one of the smarter restaurants on the Lassi Strip. Smart staff, nicely laid tables and good service meant that our mixed age group (age 1 - 60+) returned a few times during our stay. A good variety of food - seafood was excellent - and there was usually a queue waiting to be seated as the evening went on - many of whom took advantage of what appeared to be complimentary wine to ease their wait. Recommended!
Have been to the Olive Press on several occassions over the years and have to agree with most other people... The setting is indeed beautiful; down the steps into a pretty covered dining area on several levels. The service is a little slow and a little abrupt; but generally well intentioned - but we knew that. Book for Greek nights and you're likely to get a good seat by the front. (or a bad one if you want to avoid being pulled up to dance!!) The only disappointment is that the lively dancers play to a tape and it's wearing a bit thin now!! Prices were very reasonable we thought - but we tended to keep to the simple dishes and the cooking wine!!! Will return next year as the surroundings are so pleasant!
Big open plan retaurant on sea - side of lassi main drag. Service warm and friendly and views were stunning - if a little spoilt by that orrible vinyl they use to keep the wind out!! Sea food - or fishermans platter - huge and varied - kleftiko and stifado basic with no extras. Another place were they absolutely love kids! Basic but a nice time to be had....
Any info on the latest Taxi rate from Kefalonia Airport to central Lassi with baggage...? Thanks Kieran Also, any more info on the White House Appts and Yellow House Studio would be great. Ta!!
Can anyone confirm if the Phaedra used to be the Ambassador 10 years
ago? Ah, the Melambus and the Pepper Steak!!
Prices getting silly now - 10 euro for a set - (11 at the quieter Antonio Beach).
Otherwise ok - the Albatross watersports takes up a big patch of beach which
is a shame. Anyone else see (allegedly) Sean Connery's yacht SY Salperton
17-18th June???
Located behind the Pefanis Travel Shop on the airport end of Lassi Main
Road... very convenient for the Lassi Supermarket and Minas. (but still a bit of
a walk to the main tavernas...)
Good sized rooms - kitchen/living area huge (we had no 7 - a 2 bed) but no
real cupboard space.
Communal terrace area was ok - but was fairly rough concrete so toddlers
need watching. You share a terrace with next door - it is shady in the morning
and blistering in the afternoon.
Zorbas (next door) is a pain after the first couple of Greek nights - very loud
and the music - although merry - becomes very boiring after 2 weeks!! It
usually stops around 11.30pm after the cheesy disco bit (Locomotion,
Macarena, YMCA etc - why bother!?!?!)
Be warned that a cleaner does her bit in the offices above the 2 bed
appartments with her kids in tow... Moving furniture, banging chairs and
sluicing the balcony while her kids stomp up and down the metal fire escape
isn't exactly brilliant at midnight (3 nights a week!!)
All in all, liked the location and 'lived' with the noise ok - don't be off put - just
be prepared!
Oh, the pillows are lousy but there is FREE Air Conditioning in the rooms!!
Jill, the Thomson rep is very attentive and takes time to find out how everyone
is getting on.
…used to be the Ambassador back in the early 90s... anyone
remember?
We loved it here - basic and honest - we all liked the Pasta
(Villiaka a real treat) and pizzas were popular with the sprogs
and in-laws.
The big fella who greets you is right outta Goodfellas (Martin
Scorcese - go check him out!!) - and the rest of the team (a very
helpful lad and a lass) and a 40 something couple don't do
uniforms but are very attentive and helpful - if a little vacant and
grumpy at first look!
Like I said, we loved it - freebies prevailed each night - the
brandy is ruff as **** but you do graduate to fruit shooters and
complimentary wine!
Give it a try - it's good value - you can watch the sun setting and
there is a fairly decent little playground for the kids. Nice
tablewear and a decent menu. Don't expect sea food - and by the
way - the rabbit is to be ordered 24 hours in advance!Kieran

We stayed vrtually next door to Zorbas - yes the music is
repetetive - but good spirited! We decided to go for the kids' sake
- and begrudgingly had a good night!
Food OK no suprises - service pretty good and the entertainment
was genuinely OK too - just too much repetition - afterall - how
many Zorbas dances do you want!
Usually pretty full on Greek nights - and reasonable value. Just
manages to stay on the right side of tacky - but lose the English
bloke who pretends to be a dancer!! The playground in the back
has also seen better days - keep an eye on your kids if they want
to go down there!!
It's interesting how El Gabbiano - and other tavernas - move up and down in
the rankings... I guess it shows how sites like this are worthwhile.
I wonder what the analysis of timings would show - whether there is much
fluctuation in early/mid/high season - I guess the longer the season drags on -
the more the ratings decline.
Won't be back next year - boo hoo - but I look forward to reading how Lassi
shapes up!
Nice setting
Very Average Service
Reasonable if limited menu (especially for children's meals)
Cheese Pie awful!
Worth a visit for the location/setting.
Isn't the sea warm here!!!
Been here over the years but this year found it to be rather cramped this
year(more covers!!) The chairs are uncomfortable and potentially dangerous -
my daughter got her arm caught between the metal back rods...
This aside, my meal never turned up - and the boss woman seemed to think it
was rather funny every one else eating in our party and not me - but no offer
to 'whip something up' for me...
Watch your head going to the loos downstairs also - I nearly knocked myself
out (I am 6ft 3)
Generally quite a pleasant location up steps along the main Lassi drag - with
vines growing on the ceiling beams. It's a long thin dining area and seems to
be very popular. Nothing much to write home about in the food department -
but then I did have to make do with scraps from other people's plates!!
