Breathtakingly beautiful views. Quite some distance from shops/tavernas etc but car hire or taxis cheap enough, unless you seriously like walking! Apartments were adequate for sleeping in!! The greeks idea of self catering and cleanliness are quite different from us brits so don't expect luxury.
We visited for just 5 days between 5th & 10th October (last week of season, I think). The weather was still gorgeous (compared to UK!) and the sites were not at all crowded so no queuing required. Only one day of rain but life doesnt stop - just stick to indoor activities, like the tavernas! Very quiet and relaxed - I even managed to get sunburnt!!
Kokolis Travel are very friendly and accomodating. We received an upgraded car at no extra charge and half a day free. The car was provided with half a tank of petrol. ** RECOMMENDED **
This is a lovely sightseeing tour, even if you have hired a car, you can check out where places are and if they are worth a longer visit later or not. It is quite tiring though, about 8 hours on a coach. Although the stops are frequent and relaxed (no more than about 2hours travelling in one go). **RECOMMENDED **
Its worth a visit, just to say you've been (and managed all those steps!). I would recommend shoes with grips as the steps can be slippery. Although there was a seat about half way, you wouldn't want to sit on it!!! Glad I went, but once was enough.
Fiskardo was beautiful. Not a lot to do, which was probably the attraction! A few shops and quite a few tavernas, offering lovely food and drinks. Quite pricey but relaxing. Just sitting in the sunshine with friends/family having good food/drink and watching the world go by - perfect. ** RECOMMENDED **
The lake was beautiful but outshone by the boatmen, who were the biggest attraction! Loud and joyous singing and banter between boats and, through broken-english, some interesting facts. Our boatman stopped and offered to take photos of us with our cameras. He even managed to get an extra tip from the people sharing our boat - they had money ready to pay for the offical boat photo (as you get into the boat), but he took it from them as a tip!! - A very funny man.
Coastal road beautiful - water so clear you can see the fish. Roads are a bit confusing though, one-way systems and junctions with no signs or road markings! Worth visiting.
Not much here, but that was the attraction. Nice peaceful bay. Grab a coffee and watch the locals!!
This is a good place to visit for your first greek holiday (Like me!). Everyone speaks english, are friendly and helpful. The 'Dolphin Supermarket' has everything you can imagine for sale. 'Ozzie's' is the place for breakfast - good food, friendly service and great views. As commented below, is a bit Lassi-on-sea but this is reassuring when first visiting a foreign land!
