Pelagos Bay Hotel - (Accommodation in Skala)

Carol           10/10

We have just returned from a wonderful week at the Pelagos Bay, after a 7 hour delay getting there all the tavernas were shut. Billy made us so welcome with beers and cheese toasties!

The hotel is lovely and clean and the barman Yanni is a legend with his noisy 'yammas' shouted serving every drink. The barbecue night was great, so much food and it never seemed to stop coming round, entertainment was fab too.

It's a good 25 minute stroll into the town centre, works up a good appetite, and if coming back in the dark I would recommend a taxi as the road is unlit for the last 10 minutes or so and the drivers are mad!

We hired a car from the airport for the week, worked out cheaper to do that than pay for airport transfers with the tour company then hire a car for 2 or 3 days in the town as the average price for 2 days hire was 80 euros. Some beautiful beaches and places to see, can't wait to go back next year.

Il Destino - (Restaurants in Skala)

Carol           9/10

Ate here twice, not the cheapest restaurant but definitely one of the best. The wine is very reasonable and the service was excelent. The fillet steak is one of the biggest I have ever had!

La Luna - (Restaurants in Skala)

We ate at La Luna twice. Its was very reasonable and the service was excellent. The lamb with vegetables and the kokkinisto were fab, the meat was so tender it just fell apart. Wine was reasonably priced too.

Socrates - (Restaurants in Skala)

Carol           10/10

If you want traditional and cheap Greek food then this is the place to go. The lamb kleftico just fell off the bone and the stuffed rolls of pork were delicious. Service is the best, obviously a family run concern. The people eating there obviously came back every night as they never even looked at the menu outside and were instantly recognised by the staff. It's not often we get to desserts but the owner tempted us into the chocolate brownies and I have never tasted one so nice  It's a shame we didn't find this little gem earlier in our holiday or we would have eaten there every night!

Katelios Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Carol

A lovely, quiet and relaxing beach. It was clean and there was always a gentle breeze. Lovely little tavernas right on the beach for lunch. Great if you have kids as the water is very shallow and safe.

Skala Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Carol           8/10

More of a shale beach than sand but very clean and tidy. The pebbles get bigger as you head down to the sea and it can hurt your feet. 6 euros a day for the sunbeds and parasol which seemed to be the same wherever we went.

Fiskardo - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Carol           9/10

Beautiful place to visit especially if you like boats and want to see how the other half live! Some lovely little shops but very expensive. Only downside was my other half eating squid in one of the waterfront restaurants and getting food poisoning

Melissani Lake - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

Carol           10/10

Another lovely place to visit, the tour cost 7 euros each and lasts about 10 minutes but it was worth it. Incredible underground lake and fantastic stalagmites and stalactites to see. My other half said the toilets were very clean too!

St Georges Castle - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

Carol           10/10

This place is a must, fabulous views from the top and from the taverna, beautiful place to visit in a morning when it's not too hot and stay for lunch, it's just breath taking!
