Myself, my husband and our 7 year old daughter have just returned from a fantastic week staying at Tara Beach Hotel. Everything was wonderful, from the welcome drink on arrival, to the polite and helpful staff. The grounds around the hotel are stunning, full of beautiful flowers! The location is ideal, a hop and a skip from the beach and a 3 minute stroll into town. Yes, our room was basic, but it was cleaned well each day and was very comfortable with a lovely view of the gardens and the sea, and yes breakfast was a little unimaginative, but what the heck! with such a fantastic location it could be forgiven for all of this!
Once again a fantastic day out with Captain Makis and his fantastic crew! Were thrilled, once again, to see the dolphins on our way out and on our way back to the harbour. Made some great new friends as well (hello Tierni, Emma and Toni!). In response to question about vegetarians; all catered for on this beach bar-b-q with some delicious food and plenty of wine!
Just returned from our second stay at Tara Beach and once again we`ve had a wonderful holiday. Staff still friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. Set also in such a beautiful location, with the beach no further than you could throw a flip flop I can`t think of anywhere I would rather stay. Some of the bigger hotels further along the road do look bigger and more modern but seem to lack the personal touch you get at Tara Beach. Our room was next door to an elderly couple who have been visiting for 23 years, what more can you say?! It does seem that people seem to return here year after year meeting up with friends they have made on previous holidays, and it makes for a great atmosphere.
Well after reading all the comments we were determined to try The Pines on this trip to Scala, having missed it last time. The food was great, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere relaxing. Like all the restaurants in town our daughter was made to feel welcome and they were quite happy to make anything on the menu for her as a `child size` portion which was helpful.
Just got back yesterday after spending a week (13-20 June) in Scala. The weather was scorching, the day we left it was 36 degs!! a little too warm some would say. Apparently the week before we arrived they had some rain and even a storm, so we picked the right time to go. Early in the season so not heavily booked and easy to find a table at your favorite restaurants, and a sunbed on the beautiful beach.
We loved Scala. Two visits in as many years and cannot wait to go back. Just the right mixture of bars, restaurants and shops and lots of friendly people. Hope it won`t be spoilt in the coming years with redevelopment and `over-building` of villas and apartments.
