Lovidis Village - (Accommodation in Lourdas)

Stephanie N

We stayed in the apartments for two weeks. Yes the fridge is very noisy and the apartments aren't cleaned enough. The garbage should be picked up daily.

We were lucky and had a great view and were charmed by the sheep in the mornings, but the dogs barking all night long really did get on your nerves.

Overall it was okay.

Klimatis Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

Stephanie N

We thought this was the best restaurant we went to over our two week stay. We had fresh vegetables with our fish (which was excellent) and the starters were also very good.

The ambience in Klimatis is also very romantic and relaxed.

La Mer Restaurant - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

Stephanie N

We went to this restaurant 4 times over two weeks. We kept going back for the Red Snapper which was excellent and the price was unbeatable. We also tried other items on the menu and everything was very good.

The views from this place are stunning, especially if you at sunset. Really breathtaking.

Lorraines Magic Hill - (Restaurants in Lourdas)

Stephanie N

We had very high expectation of this restaurant after having read so many great reviews. We were greeted with friendly service, but found the approach of selling the specials heavy handed and the prices were omitted. We ordered off of the special list and were rather disappointed as we both found our meals of Mussles and Sea Bream very plain. However the Baklava was the best I had on the island. The bill was double of every other restaurant we had been to, so we were really shocked. Yes the views are lovely, but so are the views at some of the other restaurants and they managed to serve excellent food at a more reasonable price.

Lourdas Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Stephanie N

The was the first beach we went to and depending where you chose to sit on the beach you might have to pay more for your loungers ( and no real reason why) The water was beautiful, but the beach itself was rather average and I was put off by the cars and trucks going up the road right behind you. It kind of kills the mood of relaxing by the sea if you have to hear traffic.

I don't know what Posing Potential is all about, but you certainly had enough room and didn't feel on top of anyone at this beach.

Makris Gialos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Stephanie N

This was one of our favorite beaches. The water was so clear and you could see tons of fish. They would follow you around like little pets.

The fresh doughnuts were a nice treat.

Don't miss this beach for a perfect beach experience.

Myrtos Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Stephanie N

This is a very beautiful quiet spot. Maybe the most beautiful on the island, but the beach itself is a pebble beach and it makes getting in and out of the water a little tricky. The water however is the most amazing of all the beaches. It is as clear as glass and you can swim out for ages and still see the bottom perfectly. The setting is spectacular, but it's not a great place for playing in the sea.

Skala Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Stephanie N

Although the setting is really lovely and this is a huge beach, we found the loungers really close together and the pebbles really hard on the feet.

If you want a really beautiful quiet beach with lovely sand and a very peaceful atmosphere go to Kamina beach. It's between Lourdas and Scala. We spent 4 days there and it was bliss.

Trapezaki Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Stephanie N

This beach should be 10/10 not Lourdas. This beach is quiet and chilled out. The music is really chilled out and you can get a drink at the beach bar.

Another great feature was the shower, which allowed you to get the salt and sand off of yourself before getting back into your car or walking up the long hill.

The loungers are cheaper here and in good condition. Overall excellent beach.

Fiskardo - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Stephanie N

The best thing about Fiskardo is the drive to get there. We came up from Lourdas and it took about 1 1/2 hrs. The drive is a white knuckler but spectacular views the whole way.

Fiskardo itself took us about 1/2 hour to go through (on foot) it was pretty, but very over rated. Lunch was as expensive as dinner everywhere else on the island and nothing special. We wouldn't return.

September - (Best Time to Visit)

Stephanie N

This is a great time in terms of weather. It wasn't too hot, but perfect for days at the beach and the ocean is the perfect temprature. However, I don't know if the Greeks are fed up with the tourists by now. The restaurant food was average everywhere, some places were better than others, but over all it was pretty bland and the services was relaxed. Often the staff could be seen having chats together while you waited for someone to come and clear your plates away. The other thing is the tour operators can't seem to guarantee your flights home. We were switched at the last minute to an early morning flight and then left waiting at the airport for a 5 hour delay...we were less than thrilled with this and the tour operator that was suppose to help us, was a real jerk to everyone and he basically told anyone who had any questions to go with someone else next time.
