We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Kefalonia and, although the Irini Studios are not the best in the world, they were perfect for our needs. Small but clean and in a really good location. Lots of cats and kittens around but they're cute....
We are going back to Kefalonia again this year with the same tour operator and would not mind in the slightest if we ended up in Irini again.
Monte Nero is a great place to eat out. We were in Kefalonia for 14 nights and ate in Monte Nero on 6 of those nights. In fact, the only places we ate whilst we were in Kefalonia were Monte Nero and Gondola! They were both so good we didn't dare eat anywhere else. The staff are very friendly, the food is great and the atmosphere is lovely. We are going to Kefalonia again this year and are looking forward to a great meal in Monte Nero.
Like everything else about Kefalonia, this was great! After sailing around for a little bit and spotting the dolphins by the side of the boat we moored on a small, secluded beach and had a beach BBQ!
I remember Captain Makis trying to get my other half drunk on local white wine and fat on cheese pies! A great day out. When we go to Kefalonia again this summer we will definitely do the boat trip.
We booked our fortnight in Kefalonia at the last minute so were unsure of where we would end up! We couldn't have hoped for a better holiday. The tour operator, Libra was great, very friendly, helpful and easy to get hold off when you needed them! We are going to Kef. again this year, unfortunately only for 7 days but we will probably travel with Libra again.
This was our first ever Greek holiday, and boy was it hot! On arriving at our apartment, we decided to walk to the local mini market for supplies. By the time we came back (all of 20 minutes had passed!) I was burned on my shoulders and chest. I decided there and then that Factor 12 suncream was not enough and used Factor 16+ for the rest of my stay.....and I still came back a lovely shade of mahogany!!
We went to Nefelli one evening and we were not too impressed I'm afraid. Admittedly the food was very nice but the atmosphere was more suited to a place to eat at lunchtime as opposed to enjoying an evening meal. We would go to Nefelli again but for lunch only.
This was our second visit to Kefalonia and once again, we went in July. It really is so hot in July so if you don't like the heat, don't go in July.
Is it just me or is Kefalonia getting busier? It seems a bit more tourity since we were there two years ago. I think Kefalonia's appeal is it's natural beauty so I just hope that they don't ruin it too much.
