The family rooms are in the basement, they're quiet and away from the bar and main hotel area. These rooms have a decent sized patio are surrounded by a wall - we've been with 2 & 4 year old's and no one has escaped:- ) The family rooms are perfect as the children have their own room but no access to the outdoor areas. Highly recommend.
Hi! Visiting the Pericles Hotel in May (2 adults and 2 Children) we are booked in a basement room. Could anybody please give me a brief description of them? i.e outdoor space, security? i have 2 very lively 2 year olds!
There are safes at reception,Travelers cheques can be cashed at the normal places including the Hotel,
I am going here in June this year. I really need a few questions answered before I go. Can you get travelers cheques changes easily or is there a safe where you can leave money in your room? A bit worried that I will not be able to cash my cheques or risk it all with cash What type of plug sockets are in the rooms? and is Kefalonia really as beautiful as it shows in the pictures?
Oh - can you travel to the other local islands at all?
Gosh - sorry to bombard the questions, very excited.
Thanks
Laura
What can i say... great place to stay as it is so clean and the staff are fantastic.
PS... put your towels on the sunbeds before breakfast and they will be returned to reception so be warned... nice one
No there wasn't a pool table but there is a table tennis table down by the pool and a hard court tennis as well. Sun beds as the other posts say do get towels on them early so get down there quick i hate the thought of doing that but needs must if you intend staying by the pool all day.
I am going to stay at the Pericles in August (not long now ) but I have some questions.
No there are no fridges in the rooms and i don't think you can hire one but I know they will keep medication cool for guests.
I am going to the hotel pericles towards the end of July 2008. I was told that the rooms don't have fridges, does anyone know if they are avaliable to hire.
I don't think they do but I think there is an INTERNET café in Sami. Its a good clean hotel with nice staff and as we are going back for our 8Th time it cant be so bad can it ? For us its like going home and thats what a holiday should be a relaxing time, So the bar closes at 12 sharp the bars at the harbor stay open longer so if thats what you want go for it.
Just returned Sunday 22 nd June 2008 no they dont have tvs in rooms the only tv is in the lounge area by the bar,the pool is ok, but all the best sunbeds are taken very early, towels are put on them before breakfast, funny that its not supposed to be open until 9am.Hire a car and go and see the sights, Myrtos beach is a good day out, so is Antisamos beach facilities are better here, buying water in the hotel is a bit pricey but you dont have a fridge so you either pay or drink it warm, temperature was up around 41 when we left quite warm.
Do they have tv in the rooms?
My partner brad and i went to kefalonia in may and i can honestly say that we really enjoyed our holiday and made some brilliant friends.the hotel is quite basic but it is very clean and we were always made to feel welcome by all the staff especially Nina the receptionist. the weather was really hot and we really couldnt fault it. there are lots of lovely restaurants in sami, one of which was Dolphins, the owner was a lovely greek man and he was always there smiling and making you feel very welcome.
Returned from the Pericles last weekend (29th Oct). What can I say, the weather was fantastic for the whole week, the scenery great - we have been to Kefalonia before and new of the location of the hotel although had never stayed before - the staff were very friendly, particularly reception/barman Spiros and the lady (sorry didn't get her name) at the pool bar. Sarah, the rep, very helpful and friendly, but she is now moving on (Egypt I think). (I can see what people mean about Stelios - felt he was a bit overbearing). We had booked half board, though not sure I would again - the Greek Specialities were very good, not sure about having the same 2 deserts each day (good job I don't like desert anyway but hubby and eldest son (avid desert fans) even gave up having them!!)
If you haven't been to Kefalonia before a hire car is a must - just to appreciate the wonderful view!
All in all we had a great time and stay at the Pericles again.
I totally disagree with Steve H & Russell!! The hotel Pericles ROCKED and so did all the staff who worked there! I especially loved 3 little birds
we were a bit worried as to where we were going after reading russells comments. When we got there and checked in we were told to go to the left and down stairs, was this a nightmare to expect after russells coments on being in the basement, NO as we opened the door we went in to a great big room with two single beds and another bedroom off with another two single beds it was perfect very clean and very spacious it was ideal, the room was nice and cool and as the sun didnt get on the balcony until late afternoon it stayed nice and cool. The pool is situated away from the hotel so if you wish to go for a siesta you can with no noise from the pool to disturbe you. A perfect hotel. The staff are very friendly as is Sarah the rep she is brilliant. Not a lot going on in the hotel at night but a 15 minuite walk into sami lots of restaraunts and some with live greek music. We ate at quite a few different places but would recomend the dionosis taverna excellent food lots of it and very cheap. russells comments are really to be ignored he is obviously the one you always find on holiday who complains about everything from packing his suitcase to unpacking it. If we had enough money left we would have told thomas cook we were going to stay forever. We have been to Cyprus and ltos of other greek islands but sami and kefalonia beat them hands down the veiws are stunning. if you wish to contact me about the island contact me at dalton@talktalk.net
Just got back today and had a fantastic time, the staff at the Pericles hotel were lovely, the rooms were clean and the resort was very relaxing.
We returned Sunday 23rd July our second visit, the Pericles and Sami are just as fantastic as ever. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and we cannot wait to go back again my only regret is we had to come home. The staff at this hotel are lovely and really do look after you. So to anyone just about to go out, have a fantastic time
Just returned from the Pericles on Sunday after two fantastic weeks. My wife wasn't looking forward to our holiday, having read Russell's comments, but we were amazed how different it was to his comments. Sounds as though he is the usual tourist from hell ~ the one you don't want to meet, who complains about everything, including the weather!! Why not try Blackpool next time, Russell. For anyone going to the Pericles, I can assure them that the hotel is excellently situated, far enough away from the town to be quiet, yet near enough to walk in, even with kids. The staff are friendly, even when you are not buying drinks from the bar, and they cannot do enough for you, always with a smile. The rooms are basic, as are most hotels rooms in Greece, but they are spotless and the public areas are kept very clean. The food is excellent, mostly typical Greek food, so if you are looking forward to egg and chips you may be disappointed. The pool area is clean, as is the water, and the garden areas are well kept. All in all I couldn't fault the hotel. Sarah, the TC rep, was lovely, knowledgeable, and kept the Karaoke going on Friday nights. Although we didn't book any trips through her, she was always helpful, and pointed us in the right directions with any queries. The hotel obviously caters for all tastes. I am in my 50s and loved it, but the young couple in the next room to us, Paul and Claire, were just as taken with the hotel as we were. Russell's latest comment reveals that it is 3 years since he was there, but his original comments were only put on this site recently. Why?
Having returned from pericles for the forth year running, yet again
what a fantastic time we had and we are already booked to go back next
year. All staff at the hotel are brilliant and the facilities are good,
food is excellent and weather is good. looking forward to meeting up
with bill and olwyn holder again next year.
having just returned yesterday 28th may 2006 from the pericles we were only too sorry we had not booked for two weeks. the hotel is in a truly beautiful location, albeit a little walk into sami for restauants and harbour front. the staff were all very polite and friendley from the pool bar. hotel bar to the reception staff also. the rooms were spotless as was all the bar, pool areas and dining room. sarah the rep was a very lively informative and friendley girl, who clearly loves her job and is very good at it. although we booked no trips off as we only had the one week there she was always polite and friendly and available should we have needed her. it was a truely relaxing break with every day around 34 degrees and we hope to visit again for two weeks in september. hire a car and see more of this beautiful island. all the people in the hotel were lovely and we would definateley recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiete break away from all the hustle bustle and to see a working greek fishing village as sami is.wonderful time sheer bliss.
Just returned from the Pericles, once again a great holiday. All the staff brilliant, including Vangellis at the pool,Gerry and Alex at the Restaurant and bar,Nina at the reception and of course Stelios at the helm.
Andy and I visited in June 2005 and i can honestly say we had a great time, everything was perfect, the cleanliness, the staff, the food. We will be returning again with friends this year. Sarah the rep was tottaly brilliant, we couldnt have asked for more.keep up the good work.
good clean & friendly hotel, alex and gerry behind the bar make you feel very welcome,Food is cheap but basic(don't go half board),downsides are a very cold pool and the bar closes dead on midnight, very little in the way of entertainment for adults or children. If you want a quiet laid back holiday it will suit you fine.10-15 minute stroll to the village,(a slight problem with dogs wandering around),restaurants overlooking the harbour are similar in price and quality, probably the best two were "the riviera" and "dolphins."A good day out was the cruise which we booked through the rep,but if you hire a car go to local hire firms there are much better deals to be had.A nice relaxing time to be had horse riding in the mountains above the village with great views, stables are a five minute drive from the hotel. If no car,the local taxis offer a good cheap service.
