Skala Beach - (Beaches in Kefalonia)

Just had two glorious weeks in Skala - enjoyed the beach and the sea. We hired a brolly and beds each day, we found to our cost, got burnt, that the cream/green brollies as you go onto the main beach from the steps from the square are made of mesh rather than canvas and do not give the protection you would expect. Go a little futher along either side and use the blue and white, they are made of thick canvas and give good prtection.

Starlight Hotel - (Accommodation in Skala)

Stayed for 2 weeks early August at Starlight Hote.  Simple and clean, pleasant room. Quiet location but very short walk to beach, bars etc.  Breakfast was adeqaute, toast and crousant, howeve if you wanted anything extra it was very expensive - if you really want a bigger breakfast it would be cheaper at one of the cafes.  Disappointed that a traditional greek hotel had a Liverpudlian, John, for a barman.  We decided to have a gin & tonic each on the first night, support the hotel, that was fine, so we repeated it on the 2nd night.  However this time John charged us for doubles which we had not asked for.  We did not use the bar again, and from what we could understand speaking to other guests we were not the only ones to be taken advantage of. Someone must have complained, as after this incident there was a tarrif on the bar. If you use the bar pay as you go, John tries to get you to put it 'on the bill' but you will not have any way of checking anything. Christina and Maria were brilliant

Ate here on the 3rd night of our  2 week stay and then every night after.  Cannot fault it. Food was excellent, good choices, we enjoyed the Greek dishes and the fish.  Also the pasta was really good too.  never had room for a pudding!  Had 1ltr of the house wine each night, white or Rose, both very good. Staff were very freindly and efficient, they got it just right.  Definintely recommend to anyone who enjoys good Greek food at very fair prices.

Very dissappointed as had heard so many good revues.  My meal was good, I had stuffed tomatoes, however my partner was very dissappointed with his beef dish.  We were bothered by numerous wasps. We didn't go again even though it was the nearest retaurant to us

We only ate here  once as we were a little dissapointed, however the staff were godo and the food was good.  There was very little selection. If we had not discovered another retaurant that we preferred we would have eaten here again

On our first day we had superb salad here, mine a Greek salad my partner had Tuna, it was really good.  We decided to have a lunch there on another occasion.  I had a 'fresh' orange juice and even though they put  oranges in the juicer, it was watered down and was not a pleasant drink.  the table was not very clean, nor was the floor.  Ordered a vegetable lasagne and my parnet the Breki Metze (which he had had previously as another establishment).  My lasagne was very watery, had been micro waved and was barely edible.  My partner was not too happy with his either, especially as there was a direct comparison. the food was much more expensive too.  The staff took our order, however it took a long time to come, however the second we had put our cutlery down the table was cleared as if we had to leave.  We did not go back.
