Rumours - (Bars in Argostoli)

John H  (11 September 2002)

A great place to chill out on the square. Excellent cocktail menu with prices from 6 - 8 euros and liberal helpings of spirits! The 2 waitresses were friendly, helpful and babes! A definate place to visit.

Archeological Museum (closed) - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

John H

Well worth a visit. It opened our eyes as to the real history of the island. You can take photo's but no flash, and use a cam corder. The 3 euro's entrance fee is minimal for someone wanting to delve into Kefalonia's amazing history!

Assos - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

John H

We drove from Fanari and the scenary was breathtaking. Assos is unique and beautiful and the restaurants were good value. It is a definate 'must' to anyone visiting the island. Don't forget to either drive or walk up to the old fortress, the views are spectacular!

Drogarati Cave - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

John H

The 120 or so steps leading down to the cave sound daunting but we saw Greek ladies aged 90 tackling them without any problems! Well looked after this was another breathtaking historical place to visit.

Melissani Lake - (Places to Visit in Kefalonia)

John H

Yet another stunning place to go to. The stalactites are awesome. We stayed in Fanari and were close to the Water Wheel where the sea water first enters the island before (after 4 weeks or so) arriving in the underwater lake!

Captains Table - (Restaurants in Argostoli)

John H

When we visited it was very busy. The waiters were running up and down to ensure good service. Draught Warsteiner at a very resonable price, excellent food but be aware you must be starving if you order a starter and main course meal! Excellent value for money!

Chinese Dragon - (Restaurants in Lassi)

John H

A refreshing restaurant and no rip offs despite being so close to Lassi! We recommend the duck but any of the choices available looked tasty. The house White Wine was so good we ordered 2 bottles - my daughter Tracey was paying! It also has a good view looking out onto the sea!

Fanari - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

John H

We stayed at the Platon Appartment which is half way between the Fanari Hotel and the Panarama appartments near the top of the hill heading towards Argostoli. Cheap and cheerful self catering studios. You can use the pool at the Panarama and get cheap drinks and toasties from Jerassimus. He is a font of information regarding the history of the islands. Fanari is ideal for chilling out, you are close to the lighthouse, the water wheel as well as Lassi. We also recommend the Capital Restaurant which is virtually opposite the camping site. We went twice and the service, food and prices were excellent! Pleny of places to snorkel, there is a small shop at the camp site, very friendly locals and various monuments depicting the plight of the Italian soldiers in 1943. For visitors from Lassi, after the Fanari Hotel turn right up the hill to head for Argostoli! This was the best holiday we have had for many years!
