My wife and i visited the Melidron apartments last year - they had only just opened. The accomodation and the levels of service were excedptional. Say hello to George and Shula (the proprietors)....nothing was ever too much trouble for them. To anyone visiting skala....stay at the Melidron!!!
The best day out ever. Cost about £90. Just go!!!!! Fantastic.
The trip was £90 for two!!! We were picked up from skala at 7.30am and taken to argostoli. The boat left port at 9am ish. We cruised over coral where the glass bottom could be used to see the fish etc. We then went to a remote rocky outcrop where we could snorkel for an hour or so...all eqpt supplied. Then the capt beached the boat on a wonderful sandy beach where we played beach volleyball, canoed etc. The capt organised the barbecue where we all prepared the salad. Free wine all day and fantastic food. After approx 4 hours we boarded the boat again. On the rturn journey we all joined in the karaoke!!!! Once back at argostoli port the capt circled so that we could watch the dolphins. Back to skala around 9pm. What an exceptional day!!!!!!!! You must book...but save two places for me and my wife when we return to skala on 12th aug 2006!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just returned from scala...second time in three years. stayed at tara beach hotel...didn't like hotel as was too basic...apartments are better...can recommend melidron appts. beach wonderful...sea crystal clear and warm. food fantastic especially sallys bar, acqarios, pines ....scirroco good for brekkie...try kefalonian scrambled eggs!!! bars all good but try pines too on the beach....christos and his piano...very romantic. must book capt makis' glass bottom boat day trip ...about 54 euros but the most fantastic experience. just one complaint....there were a lot more children this year and many were left to run riot and not pleasant to have screaming toddlers/babies in romantic bars at midnight/1am - (parents please note)......otherwise a perfect place to go on holiday....we will return
fantastic location.....rooms basic but very quiet.....beautiful gardens.....pool ruined by noisy teenagers (parents were on the beach)!!!! would not re-book the tara but scala fab!!!
great place for people watching...we used it as a post-beach/pre-dinner watering hole....claire very friendly and helpful...
best black russians in the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
take stirling and exchange it in the main street.....5% better than UK and only 2% commission. there is also an atm on the main street that was always working but we didn't use it as reports that the bamks were charging 6% commission
fab service...prices ok.....steak awful...dont order it!!!!!
we loved this on our first visit to scala two years ago. this year not so good....one meal spoilt by screaming toddlers running between the tables...my wifes wine was knocked over...this continued for about hlf an hour whilst the parents (english of course) were getting drunk in the corner. do all holidays need to be spoilt by unruly english children?.....other children were womderful....especially the greeks. the food is good though.
Try the kefalonian scrambled eggs for brekkie.....awesome!!!!
