We stayed at the Lara hotel May 2003 on a self catering basis. The room's were very basic, with a fridege, two ringed cooker all in the one room, which was a bit small if you did want to do any cooking. It was clean, but don't expect alot of hot water as it very scarce. We were ready for the not so friendly owner after reading other peoples coments about him, but all I can say was he was very friendly and helpful. Nice pool with plenty of sunbeds, very steep hill down to the beach which they were doing the road whcih did make it a little noisy in the day. Overall it was great.
We found this little beach when we stopped here for a couple of hours on the island tour, and it was gorgeous, would loved to have stayed at this resort for a few days, some nice little coves as well.
This is a lovely beach, once you have done the very steep hill to get down, the getting back up is the worst and we are pretty fit. Very clean beach lots of beds and umberellas 8 euros for the lot. Did some snorking bit nothing really to see apart from the sand. Best beach in Lourdas.
We walked to this beach from Lourdas like mad fools, having read the sign only 2km. Don't be fooled by that beacuse it is definately not 2km, more like 4km. Quite shallow water for a long way out, so good for kids. We decided we would walk back along the beach to Lourdas as the rep told us we could do this. What he forgot to mention was you have to do a bit of rock climbing to get back. So as long as you are up for that it is quicker than walking back by road.
We have just come back and it has been the hottest may on record in 39 years. Nice time to go not too busy. They only down side of things is the airport, you have to que up outside before you can go and check in as it only has 4 check in desks and one scanner where every piece of luggage has to go through. It took us over a hour to check in, and we were lucky as we were near the front. Other couples from our hotel who arrived 30 mins later it took them nearly three hours. You have to see it to belive it, travelled around the world but never seen anything like it at any airport. Be warned!!!!!
Brilliant trip, well worth doing. Found some lovely places which we wouldn't have found by ourselves and it is also very informative. Trip started at 08.30am and we got back at 5.30pm, plenty of stops on route and a nice comfy coach, normally not too good on a coach, but this was fine. 39 euros and it was well worth it.
This is a very pretty place, if you love boats or want to scuba dive then this is the plcae to go. Too many tavernas I have to agree but the ice cream parlor was excellent.
We had read the comments on this page before we went so we went and tried it out. Nice setting, friendly staff however the portions where small and the presentation of the food let them down. Much nicer places to eat at.
We only ate here the once because we arrived at 11.30 at night and it was the closest to the hotel and it was still open. They had just finished serving but stayed open for us. Really friendly english lady served us and there was lots of veggie food. The food was ok but it wasn't very hot, but we were starving. I have to say I probably wouldn't have gone here otherwise.
We thought Kosmar were really good and would definately book with them again. Our only moan was we only found out a week before we were due to go, they informed us the flight times had changed and we had to land in Zante then go on to Kefalonia which made this a long trip. Not really Kosmar fault but was a pain. Reps were really friendly and were there to help if you needed them. Nice to see they employ older reps and just young people.
Checking in at Kefalonia airport is the worst I have ever seen but the reps organised it really well.
