After reading in the brochure that the accomodation was "Superior", we were rather dissapointed by the lack of Air-con. We were then told by others used to the greek isles that it was superior accomodation for greece. Would have been nice if the brochure had mentioned that.
Plus the fan we got from Arkwright down the road, was useless.
That's the moaning out of the way.
Pool was fantastic, bar was very well used by ourselves and cleaner deserves a medal.
Maybe the moan i have regarding the air-con was because the temperature in our first week was in the 40s apparently.*
Watch out for the drivers though!
*What did we expect, it was the last 2 weeks in august. :-)
Returned home from the Mythos Apartments in Katelios on 20/07/03 after a two week holiday with my girlfriend. The apartments themselves are basic and clean as you can expect of most Greek apartments, we even had a tosted sandwich maker, luxury item. We had no complaints, you get what you pay for. You can hire a fan from the Supermarket which is a 10min walk towards the beach, cost is 15 euros deposit plus 1.50 euors per day. We definitely needed the fan, although we did keep the windows open, we kept the shutters closed and the curtains pulled across (stops the mosquitos). Some other people we met were fine without a fan. The bar and pool area are lovely. Phil & Barbera the english couple who are working there for the summer are very nice and helpful, Barbera loves a good chat. On occasions Gary will be working, who is a Handy Man/Barman/Fitter who has lived in Kefalonia for a few years. He is a good laugh, will enjoy a drink and game of pool, likes to take the mic as well. He still has the Take That haircut from when he left England. The beach is only 10 to 15 mins walk, but we hired the local Katelios donkey to take us everyday.
Are Mythos Apts a good place to stay with very young children (1 & 3)? We are looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday in relatively uncommercialised resort but still need to buy nappies etc!
I have just returned from a weeks holiday in Katelios with my daughter. One of the highlights was the time we spent at The Mythos Pool Bar, the Moday quiz night is a must with bar man Phil proving to be a natural comic, however the success of the holiday was down to Andrea, no request was too much trouble, he made our time there unforgetable!
How near the beach are the Mythos apartments/studios? And how central to the centre of the village? Also what kind of scenery? I cant seem to find alot of info on Katelios.
The Mythos Apartments are spacious , they have a normal Greek kitchenette with a kettle / sandmaker and plenty of plates , cups etc.... a double bed which was nice !!
Having not been to Kefalonia in August I cannot say whether you will need a fan but they do have quite a lot of windows and its pretty cool due to the high ceilings (depending on which apartment )
We like eating in the Blue Sea purely because the waiters are so friendly , but their choice of menu is not great so I would recommend The Lighthouse and the English run Elleniko. H
We are going to stay at the Mythos Appts in Aug 2003, 2 adults plus 1 15 yr old. I know it will be very hot so wld like to know whether we can hire fans for the appts or would this be unnecessary. Plus how spacious are appts and what facilities do they have. Also any tips on Katelios best places to eat, etc. We are going to hire a car, so will also be going out and about
Stayed at the Mythos in May 2002 , have been friends with Andreas for last couple of years and as Peter say nothing is too much trouble if you ask.... Lovely Apartments and great pool bar / snooker table and tv.
stayed at the Mythos 5 years ago , but still visit while we are in katelios as there is a lovely pool Bar/snack area the biggest tv i have seen handy for the world cup , with 2 very pleasant owners george and Andreas Pantelios, nothing is to much trouble if you ask nicely, Olympic is the tour company
