Accommodation in Svoronata

Christine & mike S          10/10

We visited in 2000 with Tapestry. It was a last minute booking at the travel agents.

A holiday we won't forget. The warmth and hospitality of Voula and her family was wonderful.  Our son who was 10, at the time had a brilliant time with all the other children around the pool.  He was same age as Kostas at the time. Voula's son..
Our luggage got put off in Velos by mistake and we had nothing except a bit of hand luggage.  Voula went out of her way to take us shopping the next day and we got kitted out with one of everything, which lasted for 3-4 days until the baggage arrived via London.
We said it was the best holiday we ever had and still remember the ambiance and friendships shared with everyone.  Have to come back. Glad I found out this information, as don't seem to see it in any of the travel brochures.

My daughter and I had a terrific holiday at Marketos when they were with Tapestry Holidays, who are now no more, 6 years ago. However we are unable to find them with any tour operators and seem to be unable to contact them via the only email address I can find can anyone help?   I would quite like to go back.

The email address I have is marketos@acn.gr

We had a great time - the apartment was roomy, clean and comfortable and Voula and her family made us feel most welcome :)  The location was quiet, a good walk to the beach and near some lovely places to eat so all in all a fantastic stay!

Hi Marketoses!!!, Again another fabulous holiday, but unfortunatly only 1 week this year as my husband Philip was not able to come due to illness. My sister June always says she has come to paradise (& believe me it is) this year her family came & suprised her and all agree with her, as I've always told you...memories are better than dreams...& how true staying with you all. Voula was wonderful when my nephew Jack was taken ill & had to go to hospital for a few days. As jackie said, we now visit our Greek family, for first timers, you arrive as guests & leave as friends, give Marketos apartments a try...believe you will never want to go any where else. Voula love to Mikey...(we will watch a late night t.v one of these times!!!) Denis, Costa, Esme & Niki see you all soon.

Hi Voula and all the family - yet again another great holiday.  Just wanted to send a big big thank you to Voula especially as my newphew (on his first visit) was admitted into hospital, Voula took complete charge and without her help I do not know what we would have done.  Just to let you know we are all very grateful.  Looking forward to returning to your wonderful apartments again.

Thank you for a wonderful time.  xx

She is very obliging and helpful in all ways.Grandmama is so LOVELY as is Mikey and the boys, Esme is getting bigger too. Would recommend these apartments to anyone as we were treated like family and are always sorry to have to come to the end of our holidays. Can't wait to return, very soon. Love to all, from all in Wallsend, Tyne & Wear

We have just returned from our fourth visit to Marketos Apartments (3rd June 2006). As always the Marketos family were the ideal hosts, taking us in as part of the family.

Voula cannot do enough for her guests, she arranges pick up from the airport, can arrange car hire at preferrable rates, and even provides a welcome meal followed by Greek dancing,  which is always a highlight of the holiday.

The apartments are always very clean and the location is ideal for a 'get away from it all' holiday.

Many thanks Voula, Mikey, Nicky, Denis, Costas and Esme for a great time.

See you soon

What can we say Voula & family made our holiday the best, most of our family joined us for our 25th wedding anniversary & my sister Vicki & John Fosters wedding, my daughter Natalie & her partner Karl joined us & as a suprise brought my son Ben with them, Voula & her family gave us a wonderful party never to forget, my sisters 2 sons James & Luke with thier partners Shelly & Emma also came much to the pleasure of Denis, who I am sure had a ball too! We also had a film crew from the Richard & Judy show who filmed us reviewing a book for thier 'Summer Read' slot. Our other sister June was also with us & unfortunatly had to have a cancerous lump removed on her return home, but she is doing very well and hopefully will be given the all clear soon, again thanks to Voula & her wonderful family for giving us all an absolutly wonderful holiday, thier kindness & hospitallity is second to none. We look forward to July 2006 as we know we will have another unforgetable holiday

Another perfect week at Marketos. Voula and family just cannot do enough to make your holiday enjoyable. Th Wednesday Greek night is always a highlight. I'm not too sure about the"supersports" channel that let me suffer tha agony of England saving the last test! But this is yet one more special treat at Marketos. We will certainly return. David and Carol Wright. Sept 15th. 2005

Laura M

it was my first ever holiday and we stayed in the marketos apartments and it was brilliant, the family is great Esme tought me how to play back gammon. Denis's 21st birthday party was great, if you are thinking of going there are plenty of great restaurants my personal favourite was the acropolis. the apartments were great they were cleaned every day, and would like to come back again.

Thanks from the Mamgan family

John M

Our third great holiday in Kefalonia in a row. The Marketos gang can't be faulted. It's more like going to stay with family than just a 'normal' holiday. Voola, Mikey, Dennis, Kostas, Esmeralda and Nicky were on top form. Relaxing, but great fun. The apartments were spotless as usual. Voola and Nicky provided great meals on the welcome and leaving nights, and we had three birthday parties! Voola arranged for our car hire again (at a great rate). Clap

Svoronata itself is very quiet, but just a few minutes drive from Lassi and Argostoli if you want to try the big city. The beach is a bit of a hike in the heat, but why leave the pool? I would recommend the Marketos apartments to anyone, so give it a try. You won't be disappointed. I've just be e-mailing to book for next year. Laugh

Steve D

Our third visit to Maketos and we have yet to be disappointed. Mikey, Voula and all the family make you feel as much a part of their family as they are. The welcome night and greek nights are not to be missed. All the family are there and mama's cooking is wonderful.

There are some very good restaurants in resort too (my favourite being The Accroplis).
Very clean, very well looked after and very much want to go back again next year.

Vicki F

Yet another wonderful holiday spent at the Marketos Apartments - it really is a wonderful place to stay.  Nothing is too much trouble for Voula and her family they are lovely people and I would recommend anyone who wishes to visit Kephalonia to stay at the Marketos Apartments.

Stephen W

To all of you who are thinking of staying at the MARKETOS  appartments, please dont hesitate .All the comments you have read are accurate. My girlfriend and i were there last summer and really enjoyed it.We met some couples who had been several times before, which speakes for itself.  You most definately need to hire a car to appreciate the island .For those of you who are more enerjetic you may hire a mountain bike but be WARNED some of the terrane is extremely difficult and i wouldnt reccomend it if your a novice.

We were quite friendly with Voula and her family, however ,  i was a bit  upset  when she didnt reply to my e-mails,and photographs i sent her.

David W

Returned for our second year. Nothing has changed! PLEASE read my comments from 2003. This year we had a three bed apartment with the most amazing spiral staircase to the bed room. Given the night time hospitality from Voula or Crazy George it should have some kind of restraining devise! Voula is going alone next year, I wish her well and will return if I can find a flight. Any one know how to get a flight from Manchester in Sept? ( Excelair have stopped by then)
marketos is marketos@acn.gr

Steven R

We have just returned from our first trip to Kefalonia - what a wonderful experience. Voula and her family are the perfect hosts. Everything about the Marketos Apartments exceeded our requirements - and if you need any information on Kefalonia ask Voula - she's a fountain of knowledge and knows much more than the holiday Reps.
The location is superb for exploring the island, with beaches nearby as well as restaurants and car hire (recommended). Svoronata is the perfect location - Lassi and Skala are worth a visit but they are very 'Brits abroad'.

Voula and Co. We'll be back !

What a memorable holiday!
I came to kefalonia two years ago and stayed at the Sotiris apartments, it was a very quiet relaxing holday, so two years on i decided i wanted to come again, this time we were booked into the Marketos apartments, it was absolutly wonderful, Voula was a brilliant host, very welcoming and helpfull, she made you feel like one of the family. The apartments were cleaned EVERY day and even the cleaners were very friendly and helpful! Esme gave me a good couple of games of cards, and Denis showed me the nightlife in lassi! what a dancer! Costas was a good lille helper for his busy mother and very good a dunking and splashing you whilst in the pool!! The welcome meeting and barbeque nights were brilliant, with lots of good food and Denis's cocktails mixed in!
Sorry about the essay, but we had such a wonderful time! please vist these apartments YOU WILL NOT BE DISSAPOINTED!
we'll be back next year!!!

Holidays to Kefalonia, commencing October 2/3 2004. Svoronata or Lassi/Argostoli area

Coulson V

Please could anyone let me hyave the email address of Voula or the Marketos Apartments in Svoronata? We had a fabulous week there in May and I would like to contact Voula, rather than use snail mail. Many thanks.

Richard C

We stayed here in June 2004. The welcome by Voula was the start of a great 2 weeks. The apartments were as good as the reports we had read. The rooms were cleaned everyday. Voula and her family held great welcome and barbecue nights. The food at the pool bar was some of the best we had during our stay and the drinks are a reasonable price. The resort is quiet and spread out but great for anyone who wants a quiet away from it all holiday. Car hire is recommended if you want to see the island. We would certainly recommend family and friends to stay here if they visit the island. We hope to return.

Special message for Denis We wish we had been there when Greece won Euro 2004. The celebrations would have been great.

Pat & Richard Cramlington England.

Jayne D

To say we had an absolutely fabulous time is an understatement. I have travelled to many places in Greece and it is the greek peoples genuiness that brings me back every time, but here with Voula and family it has to be the best time ever. I have never experienced such an open and warm greeting. We really did feel part of the family and as for the themed nights, they truly were unbelievable. Its not just the free food you get to sample but the dancing and that crazy greek blondes singing, Kefalonias own version of Maria Callis.
Will return very soon. The three J's

Graham B

Hi Voula, Mickey and family.
We had a great week on 15th May and thank you and mickey for your advice with our house build in Klismata ! as you know we are returning in september 11th for 2 weeks. Your hospitality is fantastic. The 2 nights you entertained us were great and mamma s potato s were excellent. The rooms are very clean and everything you needed was there. The setting is perfect and as you know we really enjoyed the red wine at the bar! nice big Glasses ! The bar snacks are excellent especially the greek salad. Anyone booked and reading this Relax you are going to have a great holiday!!. Graham and Michael x (seghill newcastle)

Bobby T

This was our first visit to the island on the advice of our friends from Essex and found it to be excellent both in location and accomodation.Voula and Family made us most welcome and treated us like one of their own.
the location is not for the 18/30 club but excellent for a battery recharge and to eat, drink, and be merry, plus meet nice people.
All our love to the Marketos Family.
Helen/ Bobby Taylor. (Scotland )
Even worth the journey to Newcastle Airport.

Sandra S

Hi Voula
Just a very big thankyou for a fantastic holdiay in May, we couldnt have been looked after better anywhere in the world thanks to you, Mikey and Mama.
You cant imagine how happy and grateful we were knowing that you understood the Coeliac problems (Gluten Free Diet) that Sandra has and the way you made sure she was able to enjoy her food like the rest of us. I will be writing to the Coeliac society to pass on our recommendations to any other sufferers and I am sure that they will advise them where to have a safe and pleasant holiday with you.
Hope to see you all soon and once again, we thank you so very much, we enjoyed every minute.
Lots of love
Sandra & David Soulsby (Hartlepool)

Jane R

We stayed at Marketos Apartments at the beginning of May 2004. This was our first visit to any Greek Island and we were glad that this holiday involved us staying with Voula and her family. The 'welcome meal' on the Sunday evening meant that we got the chance to meet the people we were staying there with (and make some great friends along the way). A BBQ night is also held on the Thursday and, having got engaged on the Tuesday, Voula was kind enough to turn this event into a party for us, which included a lovely local strawberry and chocolate cake !! The apartments are clean and maintained every day. Voula works extremely hard to please everyone and is on hand at all times. I wouldn't hesitate to go back and cannot think of anywhere better to stay.

Paul A

Stayed at Marketos in 2002, loved it. Just got booked up to return in August this year, and looking forward to it very much. The whole family make you very welcome, the apartments were VERY clean, as was the pool area. There are a couple of quiet restaurants near by, and if its the quiet Greek holiday you are after, this is the place. The BBQ nights were great, excellent food, great atmosphere. Looking forawrd to July 31st !

Stacey B

This was the first holiday we have had in Greece and we all thought it was brilliant. The rooms were really clean, and we all enjoyed the welcome meal on Sunday and the barbeque night on the Thursday. The food was fantastic and voulas dancing was very energetic. The family make you feel very welcome and we hope to see you all again soon love Steve, Diane, Stacey and Callum.

David M

Another absolutely FANTASTIC 2 weeks spent with Voula & the Gang at the Marketos Apartments. This is a return visit and each time, things get better and better. All the comments below are accurate and you WILL have a fantastic time staying here.

Have added some photographs (which don't really do the apartments justice - but they give an idea).

I vowed I would never visit Greece until my wife took me to Kefalonia. I would live there now, given the chance!

David W

We stayed for a week in September. All the other comments about the apartments are absolutely accurate. One important point missed is that each apartment has its own water heater, so you are never short of hot water. Also ask Voula to arrange car hire, you will save money!

Helen E

We stayed at the Marketos Apartments for two weeks and loved every minute of it. The apartments are run by a Greek family who can't do enough for you. They are the most friendly and helpful people you will meet.
Voula (who runs the apartments), her husband Mikey, her children, Dennis, Costas and Esme, her mum and her nieces, Mia and Maria are amazing people who are constantly trying to make sure you have a great hoilday.
Voula and Mia work especially hard for you. Voula is always asking after you and checking you are ok. She will tell you all about Kefalonia and do everything for you like booking taxis. Mia is always working in the pool bar during the day and making breafasts and lunches. She does the nicest toast.
Voula runs a welcome night on sundays and a barbeque night on thursdays. Her mum does all the cooking and I have never tasted food as delicious as her's. Her potatoes are absolutely fantastic. After all the wonderful food (all free!), Voula entertains you with Greek dancing which is great fun! Her nieces dance too and one night Dennis even did as well! Voula has unbelieveable energy and does her best to get everyone to join in dancing (especially the Greek dances).
The pool is lovely and big with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. It is surrounded with lemon trees. There are only 12 apartments so the pool is never over crowded.
There are 8 studios and 4 one bedroom apartments. They are spacious and clean. The maids come everyday and even do your washing up!
We had a lovely view from our balcony of the mountains.
We had a fantastic time and miss Voula and everyone very much. We wouldn't hesitate to go again.

Philip J

This is the third time my wife and i have stayed at the Markitos appartments, and it just gets better. We have made very good friends with the family and are in constant contact with them by telephone and E.mail. They have treated us like one of the family, taking us out to dinner and also to the unfogetable bazooky night. We will always spend our holidays with the Markitos family they are second to none. All our love to mikey, voula, dennis, costas, esmarelda, and not forgetting voula's mum who does the best potatoes in the world.

Amanda & jason

Fantastic!! We had an acceptional holiday in Kefalonia and this was mainly due to the fact that we were staying at the fabulous Marketos Apartments. Voula, Mikey, Dennis and Esme all went out of their way to make us feel really welcome. The hospitality of Voula and her family is truly second to none. With many Greek Isles to visit, we always vowed never to visit the same island twice, but we will definatley be returning to Marketos!!

Dennis M

marketos familly want to thank you all for your comments and we hope to see you all again one day

Sharon C

We didn't stay at the Marketos but we were still made to feel like part of the family and we ended up spending most of our time around the pool. Voula, Mikey and the kids were great. Thanks to Denis for staying up to keep the bar open for us and the party nights were something not to be missed. Fantastic food, fantastic people.

Kerry D

We have just retunrned 21/6/03 and had a fantastic time.Voula and her family,Mum, Mikey,Dennis,Costas and Esmerelda(Esme) made you feel very, very welcome and like part of the family.Voula's sunday night Greek food night and Friday barbie's were fantastic and all free!!!and then she entertains you with her dancing! where she gets the energy from I don't know. The pool is lovely and clean with plenty of beds(free), the rooms are cleaned daily(tidied and washing up done too!)sheets and towels changed twice weekly and bar open from early morning til whenever(try the full english or the bacon & cheese sarnies-lovely)A lot of her guests are re-visits cos she's so well liked, we will definitely be back! However unless you want to spend all your time at the pool or are willing to hire a car(scary roads) or book excursions then it is a bit out of the way as there is only one bus in the morning(about 10:30) to Argotoli and one in the afternoon back at 2pm,which will drop you in Lassi on the way.The beaches are a fair trek-Kefalonian metres seem longer than british ones!Dum Spiros restaurant just across road and a couple just round the corner and not forgetting Crazy George's at Katerina Apts, a good night out.

Andrew B

Made most welcome by Voyla and family esp;welcoming party,at the bar beside the pool at night. rec;for a clean quiet layed back holiday,we liked it that much, we are back in june 2003 with our two friends. hazel @andrew.

Jennifer M

One of the nicest places we've stayed in Greece. The owner and family were very nice and helpful and the whole place was very clean and comfortable, our apartment was cleaned out daily and sheets changed regularly which makes a big difference in that heat.
