Restaurants in Skala

Ate here really because we had done the rest of the restaurants that we wanted to. Had tzatziki which was lovely, if not a tad too big, followed by Veg mousakka which was very tasty. My partner had mushrooms for his starter which he enjoyed, then a seafood spaghetti, which he enjoyed although it didn't have mussels in as advertised on the menu!
It was only on leaving that we caught a glimpse of the garden and wish we had sat in there! Would recommend for a nice meal in Skala, but isn't in the top three restaurants in my opinion.

We ate at Flamingo on our first night in Skala. I had the Beef Stifado which was the best Beef Stifado I have eaten in Kefalonia. My wife had the Swordfish Skewers with fresh Vegeatbles and she loved it.

We started with Calamari and Courgette Croquettes which were also delicious. The Wine was good value at Seven Euros for a Litre and the Service was freidnly and efficient.

Been holidaying in Skala for ten years.  We've nearly always eaten at the Flamingo and found the food excellent, the service equally so and the staff very friendly (maybe because we keep coming back?).  Sit at the front - lots of people watching on the street.  I think it'll be a while before we're there again since we both retire next year and intending to settle in la belle France but I absolutely will be back one day.  Angelos is the patron - his daughter has fluent English.

P.s.(re small portion complaint) who wants gigantic portions ?  Your waistline is important if you're going to exhibit it on the beach

Myself and my husband have fond memories of Flamingo. My husband proposed to me in the beautiful rear garden, 5 years ago. It was idillic, down on one knee, fantastic atmosphere. Staff were amazing and fussed round us for the rest of the evening! Couldn't have picked a nicer place to have gotten engaged. Been married three years now, and would love to go back and visit! Needless to say I can't remember much about the food, but was one of the best evening's of my life....topped off with cocktails at Sally's Bar, what more could a girl want?!:-)

Me and my family ate at the Flamingo in July 2005 and July 2007 twice during our two week stay.

We loved the meal so much it was cooked perfect and the staff where ever so friendly

Probably one of the best restaurants setting wise - try and sit in the rear "garden"  We thought food very good - prawns for starters and plenty of them.  Steak very good and meat kebab good although not loads of meat bearing in mind the price.  would recommend it although not one of the best we went too.

Ate here once out of our 2 week stay.  Very poor service.  The people on the next table had numerous problems with cold food and food not as ordered.  Our meal was not that good and it was not a place we wanted to try again.

We had the best meals here, the staff were very friendly, there was one day we chose to eat at Aquarius & we were disappointed so we ate the rest of the time at Flamingo.  can't wait to go back

We had one meal here which was not the best of the week but maybe down to what we chose. The ambience was great.

Enjoyed a light lunch here on a couple of occasions,  found the staff very friendly and helpful. Try their 'real greek' Croquette Courgettes and Big Beans in a rich tomato & Garlic sauce . . followed by a slightly warm Kefaifi and ice cream . . absolutely tops !  Washed down with a glass of Mythos from the tap, not bottle.

The picture by the way, was of a quickly sorted 10yr Wedding Anniversary present for my wife ( TIN -  10yrs )  prepared by the Patron, who is standing in the background.
Ten out of Ten again for improvisation !!

We found the food here really good and staff friendly BUT they rushed around so much it spolied trying to have a nice quiet relaxing meal - it was like they were on speed

Very nice food and varied menu, however we did find at the end of the holiday that Bar Scandiavia does the same variety, includes your starchy staples like potatoes, rice etc and is slightly cheaper.

We only found this restaurant towards the end of our holiday, after reading a recommendation in our hotels guestbook. What an absolute gem. Service is lightening quick even during busy times and the food is second to none with a fantastic varied menue. Breakfasts were also brilliant, especially if you like a fat boys egg and bacon as I do. Over the two weeks we were there we ate at many different restaurants, but I have to say that we think The Flamingo was top of the list.

Best restaurant in Skala! (Visited August 2006).Very nice food, there were eight of us so we tried a varitey of food and was never dissapointed.  The Famingo is family run but very professional with extremely nice and friendly staff.  We will definately visit again.

This year (2006) was our sixth visit to Skala and we always pay several visits to 'The Flamingo', where we get a friendly welcome and enjoy excellent food. We, twice, had their meze platter ( chicken breast, lamb chops, sausage, pork, giant beans, green beans, tomato, pitta bread etc).....Wonderful !

The restaurant is, probably, the most attractive in Skala and always seems to be busy. However the service is very good and extremely friendly.

We'll eat there again next year.

Been to Flamingos' in 2003. The food was exellent and well presented. The staff are very, very attentive and very friendly. I am due to go on my honeymoon in a week and am very looking forward to eating there again. ps- Look out for a guy who works there who we reckon is Burt Reynolds stunt double!!!

A great restaurant this one. We had a large group last year and will have again this year. What really impressed me is the way that, even though the place was packed, they still managed to accomodate a group of 9 people. Not only that, the food was first class and all the meals always came together. A top, top place. Eat here. (It's next door to the Pines if you've not been before - well, it's still there even if you have been before too!)

The service received was excellent. We only waited 10 minutes for our meal and were given a half carafe of wine for the wait! The Souvlaki and Steak we had were well cooked and served with oven potatoes and fresh vegetables. Would definately go back. Highly recommended

Excellent restaurant as always! My wife and I visited this restaurant twice and on both occassions it was excellent. The kefalonian meat pie is great and the fillet steak was superb, cooked just the way I asked. The setting in the rear courtyard is lovely.

We all, thats myself and Darren and children Charlie & Sam along with My mom & Dad and Aunt & Uncle, found that the Flamingo Restaurant was and is impeccable with the service and value for money.  We regularly eat there for breakfast and evening meal and got to know the friendly staff by name. There you will be greeted warmly on every visit to the clean, comfortable surroundings. We especially liked the Fillet Steak A la Flamingo and the shrimp saganaki along with the full flamingo breakfasts!

Matt T

We really enjoyed it at 'flamingo' we went there almost every morning. My personal favourite was the kefalonian scrambled eggs which came with bacon and sausage too. It was very well priced around twenty euros for 4 english breakfasts, including drinks! We also went there in the evening for a meal. The garden round the back is lovely it includes many plants and different fountains/ponds. It again was very well priced and I recommend the steak!

The Flamingo is a really special Restaurant!! My partner and I liked it so much we ate there regularly (OCT 05). The staff were so friendly and hospitable - you really felt looked after!! They have a beautiful tropical garden round the back and a water wall fountain - which give a really romantic and private atmosphere!!

The food was not only tremendous value for money, but was some of the best food we had tasted whilst in Kefalonia. My partner tried the Steak Fillet, Mixed Kebab & Pork Fillet - all were delicious!! I am a vegatarian and was spoilt for choice my favourites were the Mousaka & the Spaghetti.

It is true that the people you meet on holiday can really make your experience special - and this is what the Flamingo did for us!! Would highly reccommend to anyone!!
