Flamingo - (Restaurants in Skala)

Kelli P

The Flamingo is a really special Restaurant!! My partner and I liked it so much we ate there regularly (OCT 05). The staff were so friendly and hospitable - you really felt looked after!! They have a beautiful tropical garden round the back and a water wall fountain - which give a really romantic and private atmosphere!!

The food was not only tremendous value for money, but was some of the best food we had tasted whilst in Kefalonia. My partner tried the Steak Fillet, Mixed Kebab & Pork Fillet - all were delicious!! I am a vegatarian and was spoilt for choice my favourites were the Mousaka & the Spaghetti.

It is true that the people you meet on holiday can really make your experience special - and this is what the Flamingo did for us!! Would highly reccommend to anyone!!

BBs Bar - (Bars in Skala)

Kelli P

Lovely place to sit a people watch!! The lady who served us each day was really friendly and offered us great service. The prices are really low for cocktails compared to the other bars!!

My favourite was a Brandy Alexander with Cinnamon Dusting!! only 3.50 Euros at Happy Hour!!

Pines Too - (Bars in Skala)

Kelli P  (11 October 2005)

The service here was really special for us!! The two brothers who worked here this year (2005) were so friendly - they became friends we went there everyday!!

The cocktails were lovely - only beware they are generous!! The food was basic but delicious -
we had breakfast here everyday over looking the sea, can recommend Eggs Creation, and especially the French Toast!!! I've been trying to make it the same since I have been back home and it just doesn't taste as good!!
For lunch my partner loved the Roast Turkey Baguette, and I liked the Greek Village Salad & the Jacket Potatoes with Garlic Mushrooms.

If you can catch Christos play as well - he is very good!!! It really becomes a Piano Bar then!!!

I would say that price wise it is a little more than other places - but the view, service and the charm of the place more than made up for it!!

Mi Abeli Restaurant - (Restaurants in Skala)

Kelli P

We only ate here one night, but the service was lovely!! My partner and I had just arrived and were very beaten up & tired from the plane - the staff could not have been more accommodating. They were all so friendly!!!

The food was good!! We watched some greek dancing over there from the bar across the road and the atmosphere was really special!!!

Tara Beach Hotel - (Accommodation in Skala)

Tara Beach is a truly like staying in a garden, there are beautiful blooms everywhere you turn including heavy laden fruit trees. The room are clean & well kept - Air Conditioning is offered at 6 Euros per night but to be honest we didn't need it.

The breakfast is basis but very nice and the staff are really friendly and helpful. There is a nice clean pool with loungers and there are also loungers on the beach which cost 3 Euros per day - the beach is directly across the road!!

I really enjoyed my stay here at Tara Beach and would reccomend it to people wanting a quiet and picturesque hotel.

We booked this tour with the Panem Travel Office in Skala, we got picked up from our hotel at 7.00am. We had an english guide called Debbie  who had lived on the island for 15 years, she made the commentary really personal and we came away with a feeling of a real insight into living in Kefalonia, as well as the history of the island.

Stops included in this tour were Robolla Winery, Myrtos Bay, Assos, Fiskardo, Drogorati caves, Melissani Lakes. It is a little hard going being on a coach all day, but the coach was comfortable and was fully air conditioned. This trip cost 18 Euro's per person, which was a steal for all the sights & information received. I really enjoyed it!!!
