I was wondering if any one could help. i have been trying to find out what amenities the new studio apartments have because every website i have looked at have been very brief.
We are going back to the Palatino this year for the 4th time and for the 5th time to Kefalonia. This is the perfect place to take time out and really relax. We stay in the studio chalets at the back of the hotel and they are fantastic. Lixouri itself is a working towm and the entertainment is very quiet. Lixouri is a great base for exploring the island - get a car and get out there. Uae the ferry and go over to Argostoli for the day it is well worth it and last year for the first time we actually saw the infamous turtles in the harbour. Last year we stayed in Lassi and this resort definately caters more for the holiday maker than Lixouri both good and bad. You seem to get more to eat in Lassi and the restaurants put on entertainment however there are very few locals who dine out in Lassi. Once you've been to Kefalonia you will be hooked!
Not sure if you have already gone, but just to advise its about a 20 minute bus ride from the airport down into Argostoli where you catch the ferry. In high season the ferries run every half hour and take approx 20 mins to cross the water to Lixouri.
Please can you send a picture of rooms with a sea veiw, bar area and pool area as there was only one picture on the net and i have booked for the 26th may 05. The travel agent had not got any info or pictures, so please send me some.
My family and I have had a great holiday in Kefalonia 12-26 August! Great weather, was a bit to hot on a couple of days. Pool and bar are best bits at the Palatino. Spent most our time in and by the pool. Staff are friendly and always helpfull. A chill out time !
we have been going to the palatino since 2001, so we thought we would have a change in 2004, we really missed kefalonia and the palatino, so we have already booked for 2005, really looking forward to going back, if you want a relaxed holiday, then this is the place to be.

do you have availability for the week be 24/7/04 for a week for 2 studios?
I have had 3 fantastic holidays at the Palatino.I was treated like I had been known for years even after returning the first time.I look forward to returning again soon.
Visited here with my 10 year old daughter last year. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the studios were as expected and very clean, the pool was excellent, met some wonderful people, special hello to Lee, Carol, Jodie, and Brighdie. The town was a lovely traditional Greek town, with marvelous eateries, some cheap and cheerful, others a few more euros, but worth it. I only have one critisism;- we had to come home.
Hope to return in the future.
Do you have availability for acc between the 29th Aug- 3/4th September and what are your rates please.
Can someone tell me who I can book the Palatino Hotel through, It sounds excellent!
the palitino appartments are fantastic!! last september i went with my boyfriend (both early twenties) allocation on arrival dredding where we would end up! we ended up in the new appartments we could not beleive our eyes it was sooo clean, huge and very well thought out. i would recomend palitino to anyone and everyone its for people of all ages. in fact i love kefalonia so much im going to be living there in the not so distant future!! oh hire a boat in skala for the day it costs £60.00 but its well worth it i had the best day of my life i saw flying fish and everything!
The Palatino is above the town, in its own private grounds. The staff were freindly although they did have a tendancy to have the tv on aloud in the bar in the evenings. It wasn't exactly cheap there - but then the Euro is rising. The pool and outside area is lovely - clean and peaceful. Apparently tour operator JMC pulled out of Kefalonia, so understaffed and quieter than normal, but this enhanced the stay. Lixouri Town is not too touristy and definatley benefits from this, we'd definately recommend it here at the Palatino. Mark and Natasha say hello to all the friends we made here!
After viewing comments before we went, we was expecting something fantastic. It was. The self catering apartments are brilliant and the hotel is great. We had a problem with the Air-conditioning, which we tried to cancel as it was not working and was disappointed with the response of the management. The staff a really friendly with the people who go back year after year and spend their money in the hotel bar otherwise they are friendly but indifferent. I would recommend this to people who are looking for a good base to view lots of the island.
Fantastic holiday again after a fourth visit. Yannis is a star along with Ireni. Home from home - only much better. See you next year, hopefully with the same 'returners'!
The Hotel and staff are excellent, wonderful views and an excellent pool. Year after year we see the same guests and staff, home from home in fact. For many years we have enjoyed the most relaxing holidays there,(in room 108)and have madew many long standing friends there, Sid,Edna, Dimetri and Heather. Sid and myself go for early morning walks and see the real Kefalonia. One of the most enjoyable jaunts was to the local @garden Centre' where we watched a very patient man grafting Olive buds onto a 'wild Parent'stock. This is something you dont see in our garden centres. Enjoy the Greek Nights put on by Yannis and the quiet serene charm of Rosita, the wife of one of the owners. Enjoy your stay and you may meet Ann and myself in room 108. Peter Cartland.
This year we will be returning to the Paletino for the third time. It is the most peacful family hotel we have ever stayed at. The new apartments added in 2002 are out of this world. It feels like going home. The staff and Yanis are truely genuine people, who make sure you have all that you need for a perfect holiday. The pool is set at the rear on the hotel in the gardens which also has a small olive grove and is truely idyllic. Whilst the hill into town is steep, there are many different streets and lanes to walk down, with many beautiful greek houses to see on the way!
well this hotel is superb we have been coming here for 15 years at least once every year, yanni is a real character and he will do anything to please his guests--you just have to ask!! the basic accomadtion is very clean and very well run the food is good by greek standards the resort of lixouri is just so genuine its unreal try it you will not be disappointed!! we have not in 15 years!! and i am now taking my grandchildren!! go book now!!!!
The staff and the hotel are excellent, but even better than that, are the new self catering apartments, they were just out of this world. all pine and high ceilings with a minstral type gallery with two extra beds, plus air con too. Cant wait to go back next year.
The fact that likeminded, well-travelled and mature couples seem to retun year after year to this particular hotel gives an indication of the standards you can exspect at this friendly and efficiently run hotel. Sea views are recommended,CBR car hire is not. A very relaxing holiday.
Hotel staff were very friendly, and the swimming pool was very clean and had an excellent view. Rooms were basic but the location of the Hotel made up for it. The only drawback was the walk back up the hill after eating our evening meal but it was worth it. We would certainly make a return visit.
Stayed here in 1999 and found it quite pleasant. Be warned, the hotel is at the top of quite a steep hill but it's only about 10 mins away from the town centre. The pool area was good although it did tend to get a bit busier mid afternoon when the locals arrived for their daily dip and the bloke who runs the pool bar is a bit of a character.
