Location excellent but as said before up a steep track which can be a bit dark at times. No poolside bar so make sure you have stocked up. Nearest supermarket at Campsite along the road is a joke. 1900 Restuarant along the road to the right does great food - not a chip in sight when we ate there. Averta cafe across the road by the sea is great for sitting and relaxing and enjoying the views.
Desserts out of this world but everything very pricey. Well they have to recover the cost of the sweeties in the toilets some how.
Well worth the visit. Restoration work carried out extremely well. The before and after pictures really spell it out for you.
Just don't understand why they make such a big thing of the place. Touristy to the hilt. Lots of far more natural villages to be found on your travels round the Island.
If you visit one place in your life visit Assos.Idyllic nearly gets it right. Single track up to the Castle is something else - just keep praying you don't meet a car going the opposite way - reversing can be a bit hairy. Tavernas by harbour serve lovely (and cheap) meals.
