It is actually called La Luna but regardless of the name, it was a lovely restaurant that we visited twice! Definitely the best pizzas! We found the service good, staff polite and other people we spoke to had eaten in there for the last few years and enjoyed it! I would recommend it.
The Old Village (Zorbas) was a lovely restaurant, a lovely setting in the garden especially. The cat and her kitten were quite an attraction too! My boyfriend and I found it quiet and romantic and full of a better type of clientele (not meaning to be snobby!) than some places. Even when they made a small error on my pizza on our second visit (they forgot to remove the mushrooms) they were great, re-made it and my boyfriend's so we could eat together and apologised and then at the end gave us a couple of lovely watermelon cocktails on the house! Prices not any more than other places and staff very friendly.
Everyone goes on about how good the Pines is but costs a little more for quality.. well sorry but it was the worst meal we had.. in fact my boyfriend felt sick afterwards (and no it wasn't through drinking!).. so we never revisited. We spoke to a few people who said they have had fantastic meals there and then ordered the same thing and it was awful.. so no consistency.. so pot luck if it's a good meal or not, which is not good enough when you are on holiday and spending good money as yes it's a little more than other places nearby!
Although we hired a jeep from here (only place the age was 23 and my boyfriend is 24) the excess is huge, a whopping €350 and I can assure you they go over the car with a fine tooth comb, luckily so did I went we hired it, and there was no damage on the return! We also hired a moped and again the excess is a whopping €205 and we later found out you are not insured on a moped.. but I know you should never hire a moped on holiday!! I would recommend Greekstones and just a small car for the duration of your stay if you are not in Skala (we stayed on the outskirts) and we would pick it up from the airport. Jeep was nice but not really needed in Kefalonia!
Definitely recommend Greekstones, friendly and reliable and not a rip off like other hire car companies. We didn't get the jeep from there because of the minimum age but we hired a small car for the last few days and would definitely use them next time!! They don't have any hidden extras and will deliver and collect free if you are outside of Skala, and actually they are about the same price as others we looked at (i.e. Sunbird).
This seemed like the best place to stay, although it is outside of Skala we really liked it, we didn't want to be too near everything and on top of the resort. Probably best to hire a small car from the airport for the duration (we will do this next time) to make the most of getting about, unless you like just lazying by the pool! But we went off to beaches and drove around the island. It is very modern, very clean, lovely and cool, lovely views, friendly staff and good facilities. I couldn't believe there was a good hairdryer in the bathroom and the bed was so comfortable both my boyfriend and I miss it! We will definitely return and stay here no doubt about it, we just would book direct and not book with Thomson again!!
