IN REPLY TO THE QUESTION OF FAN HIRE, I VISITED KEFALONIA IN 2003 AND I AM RETURNING AGAIN THIS YEAR, I THOUGHT HIRING A FAN WAS A GOOD IDEA AND FOUND ON THE MAIN STREET THERE WERE PLENTY OF FANS FOR HIRE FOR A FEW EUROS, BUT TO BE HONEST ALL THEY DO AFTER A WHILE IS BLOW WARM AIR AROUND AND I FOUND LITTLE BENEFIT. HOPE THIS HELPS

Marietta Studios - (Accommodation in Skala)

This is our second time in skala and would deffinatley go again.  The Marietta is a friendly place to stay and tucked away from the main road its only a 5 minute walk to where all the bars and resturants are if that.  It is very clean and the facilites are very good, although we ourselves did not use the pool area there was always towels on the sunbeds for reserve, we used the pool at the eleanna just across the road which is owned by the same family.  The pool here is lovely and there is always plenty of sunbeds and sharon will see that you are well looked after, as for being pricey as read for a comment for the eleanna 3 euros for a large beer is not all that pricey. I would deffinalty stay at the marietta again but maybe hire a fan as it was so hot at night.  There is a reception for those who are enquiring and if i remember right the do hire safety deposit boxes, and also look after the cases before the coach picks you up.  Overall i think the Marietta is good value for money.

Skala Resort - (Resorts in Kefalonia)

Alison T

this is our second time in skala and i have to say i would come back again it is one of the most friendliest resorts i have been to. it is a resort for couples you can just sit and watch the world go by. it is also somewhere for excellent food.  there is a good selection of bars and resturants and wherever you choose to go you wouldnt be disappointed. the high street hosts a selection of gift shops, supermarkes, car hire, bars, resturants etc but go onto the back roads away from the main road there you will find the wonderful traditional greek tavernas and all the greek hospitality.  The only thing i find dissapointing with skala is when it is time to come home you can make some really good friends in skala.

the beach if you are beach lovers is a pebble/shingle beach which i am not much for however there is more water sports taking place.  there a boat trips, hire a boat, banana boats etc but not too much to be overdone.

Apostolis Taverna - (Restaurants in Skala)

Alison T

the last time we went to skala we found this little gem of a taverna so we were delighted to find it is still there, the food is outstanding everything from the tradditonal english pork steak to the chefs special mousaka, meatballs and the stiffado is delicous, also you get a choice of potato and not just chips like in some resturants. i would always recommend this taverna to anyone visitng skala go off the main road and follow the signs you wont be dissapointed.  the service is so friendly, and the prices are brilliant
