our 7th visit to poros. this is our last port of call each night. gerassimos and eleni, the owners are very friendly and the music is superb. a great bar to meet the locals in and also the crews from the sailing boats that call in every night
if you want to really escape the rat race and have a holiday which you can go back home really refreshed, poros is for you! the beaches aren't miles of golden sand, very pebbly in fact, but clean ( blue flag ) its a working port so can be a bit noisy at ferry landings. the rest of the time poros is wonderfull! spend a few hours staring across the sea from the remetzo cafe over a cool drink. wander up and around the headland and look over towards ithaca and let the total silence envelope you.........heaven! spend the evening at the sunset taverna enjoying a meal and the fantastic views as the sun goes down. then round the day off with a few drinks at the fantastic mythos and maistrali bars, you are guaranteed a great welcome! in fact everyone you meet in poros are so friendly, it's probably the reason i have been coming here for 7 years! what i would like to know, is why have the tour operators pulled out of poros? everyone visiting poros for the day falls in love with it and says they would love to stay! ARE YOU LISTENING TOUR OPERATORS? probably not, you never listen to us! but whatever happens........poros, WE LOVE YOU AND SEE YOU NEXT YEAR!!!
7 visits to poros , our first at dionysos. we will definatly be back next year! we arrived very late at night, gregory thought we weren't coming til the following night due to a fault on his computer. we had to knock him out of bed. i felt really sorry for him but he offered to cook us a meal which we refused being 1 o clock in the morning! he came back with a couple of ice cold beers on the house which we were very gratefull for! the studios were perfect. some have said they are small but we found them fine. after all, you spend most of your holiday outdoors? they are spotless, cleaned every day, fresh towels daily and fresh bed linen 3 times a week. nothing is too much trouble for gregory and his staff. don't forget his taverna is excellent too! combined with the location, i wish i had stayed at dionysos a lot earlier in my annual pilgrimages to poros. i have already got my dates pencilled in for next years visit!!
great beer, great company great bar!!! what more can i say? we have had wonderful times in the company of babis and his staff, we can't wait til our next visit. the t shirts are brilliant by the way..... thanks babis!
we were in kef for 2 weeks, 5th to19th june. absolutley brilliant! had a couple of cloudy days with a few spots of rain but otherwise hot and sunny. resorts a little busier than the end of may when we normally go but very comfortable ( the waiters aren't stressed out either! ). if you enjoy a bit of walking in the countyside, june is a brillint time to go because the vegetation is still very green and there are some lovely wild flowers to be found if you take time and look for them. we are definately going back in june next year, this time from the 11th!
hired ours from mythos travel in poros. sarah will deliver the car to wherever you want it and also collect it. loved the jimny, nice to drive and coped well with everything kefs roads could throw at us! the only downside was that our back seat passengers had a VERY restricted view from their seats because of the wide window posts
very clean , spacious rooms with plenty of spaces to hang your clothes! owners are very friendly but tended to keep a low profile though were great if we had any problems. VERY quiet at night as they are towards the back of the village and down a side street, which means that with the long uphill walk from the tavernas to tire you, and the silence , you are guaranteed a good nights sleep! definately recommended!
There is a pool about 25metres from the kekos, not sure what apartments they are in but you access it from the main street. When we stayed at the Kekos it was charging 2 euros per sun bed. It is only a small pool however and can get a bit crowded. We preferred the pool bar at Makis apartments on the other side of the main street (about 50 metres) much larger pool with no charge for using the sunbeds (as long as you buy a drink at the bar. The setting is far better here too. The pool is signposted from the main street if i remember
A great bar run by Dionysos who used to work in the bar at the Marina restaurant in Skala. He took it over from an English couple several years ago and has spent a lot of time and money refurbishing it.
