The Pines was easily the busiest restuarant during our stay in Skala so we had to give it a try. The service was excellent, despite it being busy and they were turning people away by 8.30! However, we were slightly disappointed by the meal itself. I had the vegetarian Kebabs which consisted of about 6 pieces of onion, pepper etc, a small mound of rice and equally small mound of Greek yogurt. My partner went for a lamb dish and was disappointed to discover it didn't come with anything at the side. All in all a very small, basic meal at a high price. I would probably return to the Pines; purely for the service, but would order a few side dishes too!
We loved the garden setting and my partner loved his dish of meatballs! However I was slightly disappointed with the salmon, as I have had better in the UK. We were eating early so there were plenty of staff available but it was incredibly difficult to attract their attention as they stood leaning in the wall staring into space! Obviously preparing for the rush later in the evening.....
Probably the most enjoyable meal of our stay. We both had kebabs and were delighted that they came with chips and dips (previous restuarants just seemed to give the main dish on its own with no extras or sauces!) The swordfish was delicous and my partner really enjoyed his mixed meat kebab with was also a special and defintely a bargain. Wish we'd eaten there earlier as we would certainly have gone back!
Found Captain's bar on the second night of the holiday and were delighted to find such a wide selection of cocktails on offer. Although they seemed quite pricey at 5 euros, they came in very large glasses and took ages to drink so actually a bargain. The staff were wonderful and the children visiting the bar were treated like little stars - I even saw the ladies giving one child a present on the last night of her holiday - the little girls face couldn't have lit up more at Christmas.
Captain's bar has something for everyone - cocktails, TV and super service.
