Very friendly staff & excellent food.
Beef stifado especially good
Desserts - baklava is superb
Can't fault the accomodation at all. Very modern & clean, We stayed in one of the split level rooms. Despite being near the airport it's very quite especially at night Busy days for airport are Sun & Tues
Super pool which never appears crowded and you could always get a sunbed at any time during the day.
Car hire recommended. It is a bit isolated & local shops & taverna a 15/20 min walk through ajoining hotel grounds.
Ammes beach is close by (10 mins walk) - nice soft sand & clear water - excellent for children
Air con is subject to a local charge (E50) but essential in mid summer Electric fans are also available for hire.
Take a torch so you can see & be seen on your way back at night
Excellent for families with small children - older children will find resort a bit too quiet
We only visted for a day. Glad we had a car to get back up the hill!
Have to say we were a bit disappointed by the beach. A bit stony. Water was reasonably clear but not as good as other beaches
Ammes beach : Unlike a lot of beaches on Kefalonia this has super soft sand beach. With crystal clear water - gently shelving so ideal for kids. Right at the end of the airport so some aircraft noise. Quite spectacular to see the planes swooping in overhead
One small beach bar - lots of sunbeds on the southern section & can get a bit crowded but more space if you walk towards the northern end
Avitos Beach: Another great beach - just like Ammes but without the aircraft!
If you go to Kefalonia you have to go to Myrtos at least once.
Spectacular scenery but ignoring the view (which is impossible) I would have to say that as purely as a "beach" it is not the best ( certainly not top ten ). The beach is not the fine white sand it looks to be fom the cliff top - as others have commented it mainly white pebbles. In comparision with the view its a bit disappointing once you get down there
The sea can be a bit choppy & gets very deep very quickly but some superb colours if your prepared to swim out a bit further. Not really one for small children
Get there as early as you can before it gets too crowded. You can drive right down to the bottom & so long as everyone observes the one way system at the bottom it isn't too bad. We drove down back in a Fiesta without any alarms
Can only echo the comments made by others. Very good food at reasonable prices.
Restaurant seemed to be aimed very much at tourists but include a number of greek specials which are very well cooked.Despite being a fair treck from our accomodation we visited on 3/4 nights & were never disappointed
Greek salad particularly good. Also enjoyed beef stifado
The best things about Svaronata are
- the beaches. Very safe & probably the best three on the island from the point of view of safety & clarity of water
