We have visited Sami five times in the past and are due to go again in September. Whilst there are a number of good Tavernas here, Faroes' definately has the edge on food quality and taste. Its not No 1 for visual appeal and I feel it suffers a little for that, but, it,s DEFINATELY No1 for the food. Can't wait. TonyP

We know this taverna as Faros and it claimed to be the oldest taverna in Sami. It was definitely a typical Greek taverna and having tried many of the other local tavernas this became our favourite. The food was always fresh and cooked to perfection. All grilled fish and meat were cooked over charcoal which enhanced the wonderful flavours. We enjoyed fresh swordfish, seabass, shrimps (king prawns), to name a few! The moussaka was the best we tried in Kefalonia, as was the local rose wine which was very reasonably priced. They also served local draught Mythos beer. To add to this the service and attention to our needs was "Greek hospitality" at its best. The owner and all the waiters were always very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Although quiet at times due to the lack of Greek tourists, we witnessed the same outstanding service to other customers one evening when several large parties descended on the taverna all at the same time! We wonder why there are no other reviews on Faros, because we thought this was the best tradtional taverna in Sami!
