Visited Kefalonia during the first week of Aug 2010. Had an excellent stay at Aenos. Situated right in the middle of the "Platia" where all the action is. Breakfast is top notch as well.
We only ate at restaurant in the square but food was excellent . Cheese flambe and saganaki starters were unbeleivable. Waiter can be a bit cheesy though. When he says no bill he means nobody called Bill here tonight so dont forget to pay! Lots of free wine though.
We didn't stay at the hotel, but if this is the restaurant that I think it is, on the main square in Argostoli, than I cannot recommend the food highly enough. The meal was absolutely superb. My partner is veggie and she was a little restricted for choice on the island, but the saganaki(fried cheese) starter and vegetable souvlaki main course were unequalled. My saffron mushroom starter and pork scallopino main course was of haute cuisne, top notch, A1, db standard. With free house wine and free dessert, and a greek Russell Crowe head waiter(apparently), we just couldnt go wrong. Go there!
I stayed here for 2 weeks in May 1995 and has the best Holiday i had ever had. To this day it was still the best Holiday. All the Hotel staff were so friendly especially the Receptionist and the young girl that served in the Restuarant. I hope to go back this year for the first time since. I just hope the staff there now as just as good as when i went 7 years ago.
We only used the restaurant, during a political rally so it was not quiet at all. The food was absolutely gorgeous, try the pepper steak cooked to perfection, Pork, which is chargrilled and for afters the Chocolate mousse (very dark chocolate with orange peel). It was the only dessert i had on holiday but I can't ham it up enough!
We only used the hotels restaurant that is in the middle of the square. The food was really good. A little pricey but worth a visit as there is so much to see in the square. Have not rated the hotel but this is only because we used the restaurant.
