We were really suprised to hear from people we met in Poros that they rated Vanessa's...we ate at every single restaurant in Poros and thought it one of the worst dining experiences ever!  The food was terrible...bland, overcooked...poor presentation...first time we had been served canned peas with a meal on this island that brims with fresh tasty vegetables! The waitress was grumpy from the word go as well!  Once we found 'the' restaurant Totolino down the other end of town we didnt bother going anywhere else again...we were promised 'fine cuisine' and thats exactly what we got every single meal...brilliant service - devine food - put most other restaurants in Poros to shame!

We stayed just down the road from the hotel - at the Oceanis Apartments.  They were very simple - but clean and neat.  Great air conditioning - vital!  All the apartments have huge nicely tiled patios - with outdoor furniture - with views over the sea - and great views of the big ferry boats coming in.  Only negative would be there was no kettle for drinks - it was a dry time waiting for the pot to boil on the kitchen top hobs.  While talking with the locals in Poros - they asked us where we were staying - we told them the Oceanis - and they always said "best hotel in Poros - best views in Poros - very proffessional couple run the place"....so it was nice to know we had fluked the best place in town to stay.

We visited many beaches while visiting Kefalonia and the beach at Poros is beautiful - a calm pretty bay - crystal clear waters - one far side of the beach is pebbly - but there is plenty of sand up one end...and the scenery around Poros is beautiful - such a lovely chilled out place to stay...great restaurants dot the waters edge...we are huge fans of the restaurant 'Totolino' down the other end of beach...best food in Poros easy! 

We went mid July and stayed in Poros - and the weather was great...hot yes - but there always seemed a nice sea breeze sweeping in - so it was quite bearable...
