Simply the best – in Lassi that is. And we have tried most of the Tavernas in Lassi over the past three years. Friendly, helpful staff who serve delicious Greek and international cuisine at value for money prices. We found it later on during our first holiday to Kefalonia three years ago and have eaten there frequently ever since. This year we have been back eight or nine times - And we were honestly remembered by the staff when we returned! If you like beef, then try the stamna - Steak cooked in a rich gravy with vegetables, and then covered with melted feta cheese. If you like lamb then try the special cooked in a rich tomato sauce. The mixed appetisers (Various selections; salads; sea food; Chefs special etc.) are good for sharing and there are one or two special dishes added to the menu every night - including fresh fish (the red snapper fillets are grilled to perfection) plus various meaty meals are offered. All this on top of an intensive menu. It gets very busy earlier on – so have a drink in one of the bars, watch the sunset and the world pass you by – and eat from 9.30pm onwards. Oh! by the way --- the chunks of tender Chicken cooked in a pot with potatoes and mushrooms in a white wine sauce is to die for.
Fantastic situation with excellent views of the sunsets, but the food let the place down. After all the hype I had read on the various sites as to how good it is - I was expecting somthing really exceptional - but unfortunately it did not come up to expectation. The food was only average (I had a beef dish, but it was full of fat and gristle and very little meat)and the menu was very poor on choice - offering exactly the same as all the other Tavernas in the area.We did try it twice in case we had been unlucky the first time but no improvement.
Extremely well laid out with smallish patio areas set in a garden of flowers, fountains and waterfalls. An ideal place for early evening or pre-dinner drinks and to watch the glorious sunsets over the Lixouri peninsular. Livens up later on with indoor and outdoor dance areas - although the music seems to be more “middle of the road” or romantically aimed at slightly more mature couples. Very friendly staff who sometimes served small cocktails to taste, free of charge. Spent quite a lot of time (and a few Euro’s) in there - and was not disappointed.
Stayed for two weeks in the apartments, which are actually on the top (3rd) floor of the hotel. All the apartments have wonderful sea views across to the Lixouri peninsular. The apartments themselves are rather basic (or rather Greek?) but are sufficient if you only need a base. Everywhere is kept spotlessly clean and tidy and the staff are extremely helpful and very friendly (if you go – say hello to Maria on reception – she never stops laughing). There is a very nice swimming pool with sun beds, tables and chairs under umbrellas and a pleasant poolside bar that also serves lunchtime snacks. There is a cosy bar inside the hotel (and a TV room with Sky) which is open late and very pleasant for a nightcap or two plus of course it is somewhere else to meet your fellow travellers.
Stayed here for two weeks last year (went upmarket this year – the Lorenzo Hotel but…..?) We found the Nondas Apartments basic - typical Greek in other words - with just enough equipment to make coffee or boil an egg. They were kept spotlessly clean though, and the owners, who live in one of the apartments during the season, were very helpful, very friendly and obliging. The apartments are just a short walk from the main beach and a little way out from the main part of Lassi (No far though) – so noise isn’t a problem. Right next door to the Princess hotel, so you can use all their facilities (Pool, Bar, Snacks etc.) if you want. We really enjoyed the stay here – simple but clean; friendly but not overbearing; close to all amenities but far enough away not to be disturbed. For good, basic, not over expensive, simple holiday accommodation you can not beat it. Top Marks!
