just got back last week and had the best holiday ever! We were in appt 30 - 1st floor and north facing so the room was cool! No real noise - yes dogs were barking but they do in England to surprisingly! Maids came every 2 days which was fine. Little balcony with a great view of the sea( and the funny little lady who lives behind the appts - does anybody know what that little hut was for?? Excellent location - 2 minutes walk from the tavernas and 5 minutes to the beach! It's not a beautiful appt - but it's greek - it does what it needs to, has plenty of space and is clean!
after reading all the rave reviews we were expecting better! We ordered the kefalonian meat pie - which had been microwaved and was soggy, and the moussaka - which was cold in the middle and very bland. when I told the waitress she thanked me for my opinion but didn't offer and alternative or a reduction in the bill - a shame really because the restaurant is very pretty with lovely views. very disappointed!
best meal of the holiday! one of the only places which does a proper greek meze - would highly recommend it - the only thing I wish was that we hadn't discovered it on our last night!
fantastic place! You eat at little tables in a rose garden which is very pretty. It's a basic grill restaurant which is unbelievably reasonable! we had 2 starters, a greek salad, 2 litres of red wine and a mixed grill for 2 ( which isn't for the faint hearted - it's nearly as big as the table!) and it came to just over 30 euros! they gave us an extra 1/2 carafe of wine as good will!!! Went back a second time and it was just as good again! Limited choice menu but well worth a trip!
spent a couple of lazy lunch times relaxing on victor's terrace, supping beer and getting away from the sunshine! great sandwiches which are huge. be wary of victor's hearing - he seems to bring you want he thinks you want rather than what you asked for( white instead of red, pizza with grilled melon rather than pineapple - bit strange but quite liked it!)at the quiet end of the beach it's great for just getting asay from it all!
to amanda and anyone else who is hesitant about skala - don't be! we've been twice in 12 months and love it. the beach is fine shingle, very clean with beautiful turqoise waters and is lined with tavernas. restaurants sell pretty much the same thing but you won't find egg and chips or an english pub anywhere!!the food is mainly bbq stuff or greek...nothing like corralejo where every 10 steps theres a chinese .there are cocktail bars for drinking into the night - or just sit in your choice of restaurant with several carafes!!
brand new appts which had it's first visitors in may! new, clean and modern - we even had a kettle! no air con which could prove a problem in high summer. off the main road but not far from the supermarkets, restaurants and bars!we stayd at the renieri last time and there is no comparison! hermes house is lovely!!
