We had a pleasant meal here slighly better quality than the average Lourdas fayre. The views, especially at sunset are worth the visit alone. A couple next to us had their main course bought up and they were only half way through their starter, they complained but the waiter didn't seem to think it was a problem and left their meals on the table.
Ate here one lunchtime while visiting Skala - the food is great but the loo is something else ! Visit it and marvel !!
We had two meals here and they were ok but we did have two niggles. The first we booked a table for the music night as we were advised to do, we were even asked which table we would like ! When we arrived our table was free so we sat there, but we could have been anybody, no one checked to see who we were. We ordered our meal and the greek salad contained inedibly bitter cucumber, we complained (pleasantly) but there was no apology or adjustment to the bill. Then by about 10pm we realised that there was to be no music....no mention of it when we arrived and again no apology from anybody. However, to end on a plus note everyone seems to get free brandy or ouzo with the bill.
Two young girls run this place and I found them to be very helpful and pleasant and not adverse to doing a 'deal' over prices. We hired a really nice 125cc scooter from here in June for about £120 for 2 weeks. After a week the speedo cable broke and I took it back and they repaired it on the spot in about 30 minutes. I would recommend hiring a 125cc if you are planning to tour the island 2 up, some of the hills are huge !
We had a lovely meal here, well cooked and nicely presented and a beautiful view over the sea too. The prices were a bit more than the standard Lourdas fayre but worth it. The service was friendly and prompt and Lorraine was happy to explain the menu if asked. The night we ate Lorraine was worried about the '3 underdeveloped shrimp' message on this site - she genuinely seemed to care that customers enjoyed eating at her restaurant, no doubt she will be concerned about the FREAK message too, but there are many more positive messages than negative so that must say something.
Dear j.p.
If you are going to set yourself up as a critic at least learn how to spell and get your facts right. La Mer (Mar?) is not 'right on the beach front' it overlooks the sea which is about a mile away. Remember, (or as you put it remmember) if you are going to trash someone at least spell their name correctly (Lorraine not Lauraine)Also have the guts to put your name to your personal attacks (see j.p. comments on Lorraine's pages)
